I didn’t like his final version either. He just didn’t look natural. He had the “something about Mary” stiff edge hair. He always looked weird to me. Drake didn’t start to look natural until UC4.
SageofSorrow Hair has always been one of the hardest things to make look convincing in computer graphics. But I recall being impressed by Uncharted 1’s hair. Look at most games of the time. Most characters had helmet hair, where it was just part of their was model and a texture. Very few had transparent meshes like Drake’s. The only game I could think of from that time period with decent hair was Resident Evil 4’s.
DoctorWeeTodd well there were the Silent Hill and MGS games(the hair moved and flowed). But I see what you're saying. It's just Drake always had a.....fake look to him I couldn't put my finger on. The other characters looked more natural than him to me. He looked like a cartoon character in a world with character with more realistic features to them
I really want to see the behind the scenes of Uncharted 3's Airplaine Chapter. I heard it took them 8 hours or more to finish the part where Nathan falls out of the plane and make it back onto the plane. Edit: I meant it took em 8 Hours of a 9 second segment for the motion capture of Nathan falling and hanging at the end of the cargo
@@escapefromtibet2530 ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-1UAqY96zIG0.html (1:46 to 1:55) It took them about 8 hours to make that 9 second scene (At least the motion capture part took 8 hours) Nolan North said in an interview that a stunt man was hanging above the ceiling and had to fall onto hanging blocks and had to hang at the end of it.(Which they had to retake many many times, the stuntman must've had good strength) So yeah making the full 9 second scene probably took weeks or months but I was talking about the motion capture part. I should have addressed that earlier.
I love that the changed drake’s design not just his face but his clothes I remember in the first E3 trailer in 2006 it was drakes proper face but he still had those really light jeans and that white and read baseball shirt
Some of those animations, like the gunfire response didn’t even make the cut until Uncharted 4. And multiple melee opponents were planned for U1, I remember the trailer, didn’t make it until U3.
You can see at the beginging that there's a couple of mecanics that ND didn't use until later on the franchise, its easier to understand how ND put out such a high quality animations when you see that they been working on them since 2005.
Theres something special to me about the first game. Its an adventure thats timeless.. The single island. The music. The story. Its the first. I lived in this game , w no internet back in the day, its all i had
Damn this is so cool. I remember playing Drake's Fortune back in the day, Great to see this franchise is still booming and Naughty Dog going strong as always. One of my fav franchises
When I look at it as a movie, the environmental details, water reflection, wave simulation, etc. are terrific! This video also offers the possibility to view actors' work in the studio - they need to pretend a lot, they're excellent! - and video designers working on computers. The later are like magicians, the settings they video-create are magic in comparison to the studio setting. It's sensational! :-)
Not sure what you mean? Pretty sure Amy Hennig has said that they were making it for PS3, just a couple years before Sony had announced it so they had to guess on the specs
And none of this would've been possible without Weta Workshop's work on The Lord Of The Rings, and Narnia and Andrew Adamson's work on both Shrek and Narnia.
I find it funny how the combat in this they showed Nathan dodging enemies before he punches them. If that was an original command from the player or not It’s cool to see that it took all they way till The Last of Us 2 to have that in combat.
5:16 The Ark of the Covenant? I guess that was either what the original plot was going to revolve around or just a placeholder for the real El Dorado concept.
Funny enough, it think that’s like the second Indiana Jones reference I found considering its based off that series. Not to mention Drake makes a joke about finding Nazis on a submarine.
It would be a strange world if we got two iconic videogame characters who looks like Johnny Knoxville. Travis from No More Heroes...and Nathan Drake. Ugh, glad they changed.
5:03 ok now i get it why some expressions in uncharted looks cartoonish with this part. Elena's faces looks different between the actress and her. Because there's no mokap for expressions like we have now 16 years later so is animated separetly
