This game can reach your most deep part and make you cry! Its so beautiful! I just finished playing the game, and every detail from the scenarios to the ambient, to the visual elements, the colors, especially the soundtrack are just impeccable, you really leave this world and you are transported to another one beautiful and poetic. To call this a "video game" is a little underwhelming. This is an interactive artwork of the highest caliber. An amazing achievement by everyone involved. Emotional. Evocative. Worth experiencing.
What you just described is a videogame. It's a medium that is an amalgamation of various arts creating something that can be greater than the sum of its (p)arts. Gris, Nier: Automata, Red Dead Redemption, God of War, The Witcher, Mass Effect, The Last of Us and lots of other games are able to evoke emotion in a way other arts can not. They can build a unique connection to the narrative and characters through interactivity. The emotions gamers are able to feel when the credits roll in Nier: Automata or when they go through Arthur's most dramatic moments in Red Dead Redemption 2 are very unique to this medium. Videogames have matured into a very sophisticated art form, but they have arguably always been one.
I know I am 2 years later, but I just wanted to disagree with you. Saying something is not a videogame just because is artful detracts from the medium and from the art form that videogame is. Instead of calling it something else to validate its artistic significance we should support and see videogames as a medium as significant as any other. Yes, this is a videogame and it is amazing and artful, like videogames can be.
I just finished the game. As someone who is still somewhere in the 5 stages of loss, this game was amazing. For those of us who are unfortunate enough to know the feeling, the game captures it amazingly well. I still got tears from the ending. Wauw

Gris is a beautiful game but it's also very sad. Overcoming grief isn't easy. I've been struggling to overcome it and I have to admit it's difficult when you lose someone! Yes, you can see the lifeless black and white world! the game showed me that I have to move forward, I hope I can do it when the time is right, I will! But play, it's an art, a beautiful game
I am in a process of becoming a game artist following the university of manchester Futureworks. You guys inspired me alot, i love your game that brought me tears playing it. My biggest dream is to create a touching game like yours. My inspiration was also Ori and the blind forest ( because this was the game i finished, i haven't played the other parts), and also the Holow Knight. Recently i came up with a story for my own game (and i am very exccited and surprised at the same time , because i never did that before, never had imagination to create a story). I love the techniques you used to create this masterpiece. I hope one day i will create a game as good as yours with my story. Thank you very much for this experience!
This interactive story in a platform game is such beautiful, everything was there. You touched people at their hearts because all these elements (the art, the gameplay, the story and the music) were in such harmony, you can only be touched by such beauty
i desperatly want to hear from Nomada Studio about a new project or a sequel to gris... no-one on theyre socieals has answered me and its scary and depressing to think they will never make another beautiful game again
honestly, i havent finished this game. he's right tho, even if this is not your type of game, you should still try it. this is not my type of a game, i stopped in the half playing it, its boring, but im not gonna say its a bad game. it's a fucking masterpiece and I enjoyed my time playing this game until I get bored. its just, its not my type of game
This is such an amazing piece of art that just happens to be a game. My daughter introduced me to it, and since I have streamed this and shared it with other people. We love it that much, we have purchased it on our main consoles and we are just in love with it. Thank you for making such a wonderful art piece, and to anyone that hasn't played it, you NEED to play it.

"Gris" is french for "Pink". And for a number of languages "gris" is literally the word for "pig" (and pigs are pink). Funny enough they all pronounce it as the "pig" version and not the "pink" one.
Nomada Studio and those who contribuited to make Gris are amazing, but you Devolver, are amazing too... One of the best publisher in a world of bad publishers.

El trabajo tan delicado, los colores preciosos, los diseños complejos de las estructuras pero manteniendo una pulcritud y delicadeza, la simetría, el dinamismo de Gris... Los ambientes tan bellos, la musica que queda perfecta a todo lo que ocurre en la aventura, imágenes que evocan muchas emociones, encontrando amiguitos en el bosque; entre la tristeza y el camino largo a un mundo hermoso con luz y colores y el final... Es una obra maestra. Lo único que no me agradó es que es corta la duración del juego, el mundo en Gris es precioso y me hubiera gustado conocer más. Pero no me importaría volverlo a jugar muchas veces más. El arte es tan adictivo, onírico... Mágico. Me ayudó a relajarme mientras trato de sobrellevar mis crisis de ansiedad. Es una delicia visual y auditiva. Excelente trabajo en equipo entre todos ustedes. I am so thankful to the artist, musicians, and game developers who worked together beautifully to create such an amazing game. I bought this game on the switch a month ago on sale and unlike some of my other impulse buys, I don't regret it at all!!!!!
