Love the haunted radio. Recently had the idea to add a radio that plays different clips from the haunted mansion. Then tie a spotlight in so that it illuminates on that imagineers tombstone.
Really cool details, thank you! I am also searching for an antiqueing method for the wood face. I have the same radio and plan to make it look a little darker.
I bought a broken one of these old radios last year, hoping I could think of a way to rig up something like yours. lol Still no idea. 😂 Thank you though, it's cool seeing the insides.
I use a small amp with an SD card reader. There's a bunch of different ones out there at a variety of price points with varying feature sets. Worst case scenario, just make your audio track the length of your show. For us, we only run for about 3 hours a night, so my audio files are 3 hours long to prevent anything from getting out of sync.
My attempt at this prop is underway with a similar radio shell. Question: is waterproofing the exterior a concern at all? Wasn't sure how well these units held up to the elements and whether you'd applied any clear sealer to yours, just to be safe.
It wasn’t, although we rarely get rain around Halloween. If that’s a concern for you, I’d check out the clear spray sealers out there, like Flexseal or Gorilla glue’s waterproof spray.
I found some 1920-1930s music that I edited, taking the best parts and making them sound a little creepy. Here's an example from one of my old walk-thru videos: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-tqsinDEuYxs.html
I did a little research. The biggest difference between the unit I used and the Perfect Storm box is that mine has a direct audio input instead of a microphone. So you’d need to put the Perfect Storm box inside your antique speaker to achieve the same effect.
Derek you are spectacular!!! Thank you for doing the research. Fortunately my Perfect Storm unit has an audio input jack. However I think you’re recommendation of the Light Organ is the more economical option. As the perfect storm unit has gone up up substantial in price. Thank you again for all you do 👻
Yeah, the Velleman light organ is really affordable, although it only works with LEDs. But what I’ve done is made fake vacuum tubes with plastic beakers I found on Amazon and just stuck LED strip lights inside them and frosted the plastic so you couldn’t see the LEDs.
