Thanks man! What i get from this... it's not that the patchbay is hard to understand... it's the logic of the synth being described in a weird manner by manufacturer. I mean i would never thought that word "Assign" above the jack have anything to do with accent or the velocity of the keyboard. And i mean never! But the option is there and you showed it to us perfectly. Now i see it!
Having recently bought the Crave I watched through several tutorial video but yours were by far the most helpful. Thank you so much for doing these. I really hope you will be doing more for other synths in the future as your relaxed manner and enthusiasm really help in your explanations. BTW has anyone told you your voice is identical to Matt Frewer, the actor who played Max Headroom in the 80. Every time you said Swing it sounded just like on Paranoimia by The Art of Noise lol.😊
@@music-with-eric i saved my First one today . Ive Been listning to de sequence for 8 Hours hahahaha and as assain to random the cut of and Gate from a Video i found . Im Having a blast . Thanks once again . Its amazing to have Good Tutorials like yours . Lets Crave!!
Id suggest adding "midi cc" into the name of the video. Will give you alot more views. Your guide is worth a lot and while this is a great synth to start, it has some features that so many of others dont have. Combined with that great oscillator and even greater filter you can automate and perform on a level that even much more expensive synths never could.
According to the version of the manual/firmware I used while making most of these videos, it's in the shift+hold+8 menus, page 1, option 5. This may have changed since 2020 though.
Thank you for this video, it's very complicated to understand all the assign functions since they're not explained in the guide! Just a question: could you make a kind of "tracklist" in the description of the video with the time for each assign? So if someoune is looking for something in particular can find it quickly. Thank you very much!
Excellent tuts! Thx a lot) it's extremely helpful. Don't you know can i use assign output sequencer features with external sequencer? I sent notes by MIDI from Model Samples to Crave that works well, but i lost Sequencer Step Ramp. With internal sequencer i have no problems with assignable output. Thx)
Can't answer that one - haven't attempted to use an external sequencer with it, besides experimenting with the Volca. There are still some things yet to discover!
@@music-with-eric it looks like there is no way to use assign output features with external sequencer( But i hope i am wrong and someone will find the way to solve this problem. Thx for answer)
Im planning on getting this synth, but I still can’t find if there’s a way to assign the mod wheel from a midi keyboard to a certain parameter... is there even a way to do this?
If your keyboard has CV out, like a Keystep or another synth like the MS-1, you can patch its CV Mod Out to one of the Inputs on the Crave. Check the instruments' manuals to make sure that the voltages are within tolerances. At this moment I don't recall if mod wheel MIDI is receivable by the Crave.
Your tutorials are great! Please can you help me how to sync Crave from Volca? I tried it to connect Volca sync out with Crave tempo in or play/stop in but it did´t work... Sorry i don´t know. Thank You
@@music-with-eric Hello, maybe its usefull... new-community.musictribe.com/discussions/124247/283562/behringer-crave-clock-divider I'm really a beginner and I don't understand behringer strategy, I thought Crave is mainly for beginners. I don't know why they don't have at least a full and understandable guide on the web, when a printed manual is useless... Thank You
Is it possible to change scale (time division ) of notes when using external clock . As I can't seem to find or figure out how to do it. Example I'm using edge and clock is coming from beatstep pro at 172 BPM and edge at same but 1/8 notes my crave is always playing to fast because I can't find out how to change it.
I don't have an Edge, so I can't say for sure, but on the crave's shift+hold+8 menu, page 1, you can change the relative value of the sync. If edge and crave are on the same rate setting, they should run at the same tempo.
I'd like to link a Behringer 960 sequencer to the Crave in order to get more 'on the fly' possibilities out of the Crave. Do I do this by patching the Crave assign to the 960's control input? Or are there other ways?
@@hubertvancalenbergh9022 did you manage to make this work? I'm getting a 960 and I'd like to save money on a "clock" module. So would be nice to use the Crave as CV Clock source.
@@daniloakyra3973 Haven't gotten around to it yet! I also play bass and guitar and had to divert my attention in other directions. But I found that the 960's possibilities are expanded by adding the 962 sequential switch. It's only €55.
I was using this last night and now my Hold/Rest is constantly flashing, even when I turn the machine on and off again. Any idea what I might have done... it doesn't seem to be affecting anything that I can tell.
I seem to recall that light flashing often...but there have been different numbers of blinking lights depending on which firmware the Crave was on...best I can suggest is making sure that the pattern you are booting up in is completely clear of any saved information.
Totally safe for the synth to add and remove patch cables while it's playing. The only thing to watch out for is the output volume - if you do something that's going to create a massive change in volume or add a lot of distortion, you may want to back the output volume down first so you don't blow your speakers.
Connect the Crave to the synthtribe app on your computer and make sure that tempo sync is set to MIDI (or auto, if it's the only thing you'll be controlling tempo with). After connecting the DIN cable, make sure that both devices are NOT on the same MIDI channel, or note data will be transferred as well. When you press start on the controlling device, it should send the signal to start the crave's sequencer as well. However, the crave doesn't always start right on time, and sometimes takes a beat or two to catch up to the prevailing tempo. I've observed that behavior in the sequencer on the MS-1 as well. (edited to correct channel info)
@@music-with-eric ok thanks .I've been using the crave as the master but there seems to be slight latency issues. If I wire it through the sync cables it works fine but the rd6 and the td3 react to the note data from the crave and it doesn't sound right ,is there any way It can be set up this way so it will just run on just strict normal timing ?
@@music-with-eric if I try and run the crave using the rd6 as the master it only seems to transfer note data and not timing or sequencer data .is there a wrong midi channel set up on one of them or will I need to try the synthtribe app?
@@dischargerecords2331 Have you checked out Behringer's video on this particular setup? ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-2lajr13lxcM.html
