Great video. You should do Jinshanling one day. It is more original and less touristy. The view there is much better. I went to Mutianyu and Jinshanling last Dec. There was absolutely no crowd and you’d only hear winds in wide open areas. No human and vehicle noise. Wonderful.
Watching tourists carrying at the most a light back pack huffing and puffing walking up ad down the Great Wall, one just can’t imagine what super human strength those laborers had in building the wall and the soldiers with their heavy armor and weapons guarding it.
Hopefully, it will be built and got to be a lot taller. The criminals illegally come into the U.S. are more adaptable than the Mongols in scaling heights.
You know why the vendor had a sign says “coffee” while serving pancake? That was an insightful intentional act: you need to eat, not drinking coffee, because there’s no bathroom up there and one can easily go hungry.
zhli, That is no good. They should have bathrooms or maybe even shower rooms. That part of the Great Wall is such a magnet for tourists and I don't know the approximate #s of people going there every day. Inconsiderate people do whatever they want, they can turn parts of the wall into an unpleasant place. I saw many trash cans and there should be clean public bathrooms for tourists.
THW, The bandits were no immigrants, they were killers. They killed indiscriminately, pillaged, arson, and kidnapped women. The function of the Great Wall is to prevent quick attacks carried out by mobile bandits from the Great Steppes. With thousands of kilometers to cover, the Chinese could never field enough soldiers to guard border towns. The Wall served the purpose of stopping the horsemen bandits from quickly coming in and back into the vastness of the north-western desert.
If I ever travel in China, the Great Wall will be the only place I will NOT visit. A giant labour camp, one does not have to understand much of Chinese history to understand how it was constructed.
You know people study a piece of history or visit a museum not only because they agree with what was going on back then, you can also learn not to let it happen again in the future.
I guess, even if you have chance, you will also not be interested in pyramid in Egypt, any site, city which built in the slave sociery, like man roman architecture, etc.🙃
