yeah i hope that anxiety fades as you get older. a lot of these feelings are relatively new to me, so i suspect the intensity of their weight will lighten as i get use to holding them. happy birthday soon friend!!

absolutely! actually wrote the ideas on my way home from NYC. there was an LCD sound system show that got cancelled. so i got somewhat intoxicated and explored the city. but in the morning i felt terrible and was thinking a lot about being sick. so i wrote this in the train. ::)

Curious what you think about having kids re: that it might reduce fear of death (plus some other benefits of course) versus that it’s expensive and exhausting and you kinda have to retreat from social life outside your immediate family etc. For instance if u have 30 more years of healthy life, then at least 20 of that would be putting yourself last, working a lot so your kids can afford a good life etc.... do you feel it could limit your own potential? Like if you could only play music 25% as much as you do now for instance? This is something I thought about a lot when I turned 30, the reproduction thing. It ties into the more general ‘ok what’s the main goal in life now?’ question.

yeah this is really the question. i think that desire to have kids, while there, is overwhelmed by the desire to have freedom and make art. but the thought of not having kids, is also a bit scary. my mother said we were the best thing that happened to her and i could see that as being a huge source of meaning as well as support as i grow older and my family becomes fewer and fewer. it’s such a balance. but right now art is my kid, and i don’t see that changing anytime soon.
