Being a Donkey 

"Who is himself?", the man at the gate asked. "I am", the mental patient replied. Therefore I am inside, and you're locked out.
When someone defines his personal identity outside the dominant social norms, we are quick to qualify it as unreal (delusional, mad, deliberately provocative etc.). But doesn't being unconventional, require a higher degree of assertiveness, sense of purpose and independence? (the stuff of which real personality is made of) And how real or mad are our conventions; black/white, heterosexual/homosexual, man/woman, rich/poor, intelligent/stupid.... man/donkey
