We want to thank Ji-hwan for sharing his inspiring story. Ji-hwan’s organization is doing its best it can to help out as many single parents as possible in Korea.
We at Asian Boss were touched by Ji-hwan’s story and decided to create a crowdfunding page to help with his cause. This means his group can provide more essentials, such as diapers and food, for struggling single parents. And more single fathers can get the legal support they need to finally obtain birth certificates for their children.

If Asian Boss really wants to help, Asian Boss must create a foundation that has the same vision as Ji-hwan. The purpose of forming this foundation is to make a flats above the children's shelter. so that every single parent is able to work calmly and improve their standard of living and pay their insurance costs until their lives are stable or until their children are able to work. I'm sure the Asian Boss officials have links to several important foundations. it's not wrong to knock on a few boss doors. People get poorer if they get sick often. But if you are able to support an industry that is able to make drugs cheaper, that would be great.

why not? many women dont want to have the kid but at least she didnt abort it. Chances are she didnt even want to have it but she didnt want to abort it either, so better this than nothing; and also, it's better to leave your child with someone else rather than neglect him, abuse him, etc. If she didnt want this kid she did the right thing giving custody to the father, or in other case, giving it up for adoption. That's actually better than conspiring to kill your own child if you run out of money.
@nekonekomoimoi6588

To be real. Those men probably wouldn't be so understanding if it wasn't partially their fault. Korean society is a tough one prone to alcoholism or domestic violence. And it's too frequent that males that work jobs requering physical labour resort to alcohol. So now that they are left with the responsability of taking care of a child they start understanding the world of mothers.

My dad has been a single father since I was 1 year old. He passed away 3 years ago, at the age of 53. He never dated anyone idk why really. He wasn't perfect but nobody loved me like he did. Whenever I feel lonely and miss him he sometimes appears in my dreams. Luckily he was able to meet my daughter and hold her when she was a baby, on his last call he told me " I just wanted to say I'm proud of you, and I'm not feeling well so I guess this year I'm not going to be here anymore" of course I thought it was one of his frequently jokes, but one early morning a call told me it wasn't a joke. He died by a heart attack, my grandma found him cold in the street, he had depression and was alcoholic but he never gave up on me. He was a great cook and he always taught me to respect myself and others efforts, he had read me tons of books and make stories before sleeping, he taught me to be brave, to choose whatever makes me happy even if he didn't agree on. I remember he sold his car like the father on the video he sold everything and lastly he got help with my grandma she helped us both a lot, so I'm very grateful for the opportunities we had together as the non conventional family we were. I remember he used to cry a lot whenever he watched the movie "the persuit of happiness" the part the dad gets the job he was in tears, always. He told me " one day you will understand why I cry every time I watch this" and he always hugged me tightly in that part. I'm proud of you dad, hope you have found peace wherever you are. One day we'll meet again and we'll share stories together. I miss him so much.

Angelica Theresia I don’t have any qualms with being a single parent since my mom is one but what I don’t understand is why you’d want to raise a child when you don’t have enough money to take care of yourself only.
@mchjsosde
@mchjsosde 4 года назад
Because they love their children and their children love them. Their child has already been abandoned by one parent. There is not guarantee they will be well cared for loved or adopted if they give them up. They don't want their child to lose the experience of being loved by their parent. They don't want to give up on the idea that they can get on their feet and care for their child, inspire them and love them directly. I don't think there's anything wrong with giving up a child for the child's benefit, but notice that these parents are also giving their everything for their children. It is a difficult to never give up just like it's a difficult choice to let them go. I was raised by a single parent too and she had a job and family that has supported her, it's a huge privilege. I think they want to love their children because they know they are priceless.
@TheOphelia10
@TheOphelia10 4 года назад
wayne wayne because the love that they have for that child far exceeds money, the child is enough to motivate them to work hard enough, I’m not saying it’ll be easy but they love their child enough to try. (Speaking behalf of my mother who is a single parent)
@cluelessaf8974
@cluelessaf8974 4 года назад
There is a difference between having one or two child and wanting to raise them in the best possible way albeit you might don't even have enough resource for yourself with continue to have children /another child until they have like 4-7 children when you can't even raise a child properly I don't have problem with someone poor wanting to raise a children, I just irritated whenever I see some struggling parents in an interview where the parents have more than 3 children (and planning to have more or currently have another baby on the way/being pregnant) while they don't have the sufficient resource and economic measure for that.

South Korea is a different society which has a far lower divorce rate than the west. Instead of just pointing the finger (and alienating) maybe we should ask the government to modernize and acknowledge that the single parent families are increasingly more common in the west and elsewhere. Korea is very advanced technologically, but quite far behind socially. That's the problem of countries with rapid economical growth: they don't have time to adapt socially and culturally. These things took centuries in countries like the developed ones in Europe, for societies to change and adapt. What's happening in Korea is that basically, they are forced to make these changes happen in mere years/decades, and that means that the more vulnerable people are left behind, like old people or single parents... anyone that isn't "the norm". Of course its ideal to have two happy parents raising happy children, but life doesn't always work out that way does it. I consider myself lucky to be raised in a society that did not treat me and my mom harshly for being a single parent family and it definitely wasn't easy for her at all but she never made me feel less fortunate than others. Father's that are usually like this with their kids have a better chance to speak about hard topics like this with their daughter's much easier due to the honesty and bond they have. I believe she would understand as to what her mom was going through, it was part of her giving birth to her child, it might be had for the child to understand at first but a bond between father and daughter's like this, it is usually unbreakable. Geez, I mean the guy is a citizen for crying out loud. So when his child is born into HIS country, then why is it so hard for his child to get a lousy birth certificate? 😠 Why? Because the other parent is out of the picture? Lame. 👎 And this guy just does what needs to be done 👍🤘. Major respect. But eventually, I think he needs to tell his daughter about her mom in the future. In my humble opinion.
@saratrejo6658
@saratrejo6658 4 года назад
The issue is not that the other parent is out of the picture. The issue is that their child was born out of wedlock. Korean law requires the mother to register the child, but she ran away soon after the child was born without registering. Had they been married and had the child, he would have been able to register her even without the mother being present.
@goldyd144
@goldyd144 4 года назад
@@saratrejo6658 That sounds like something put in place to conceal the true amount of out of wedlock births when taking statistics, which is a little shady. Wouldn't that make it difficult for her to find work or start her own business in the future? Or can he register her if he gets married and his new wife adopts her?

cnordegren I don’t think that is true. I have a huge family and I can say that I only know of 3 married. The rest are single parents, including my mom and none of us are criminals.
