We at Asian Boss were touched by Ji-hwan’s story and decided to create a crowdfunding page to help with his cause. This means his group can provide more essentials, such as diapers and food, for struggling single parents. Children dont remember lack of money, they remember lack of love.

Even the interviewer can't hold her tears. Just like i do.

“It’s not wrong for a poor person to want to have a child.” I wish more people help this man’s belief.

This single dad is better than most two parent families.

This guy didn't just survive. He's thriving.

The fact that he doesn't blame his wife for leaving him and their child hit me hard, to forgive someone for doing something like that is next level stuff.

"Can you express that with your arms?" "Just a second." His daughter is incredibly cute.

Single parents everywhere deserve major respect

The fact that he wants to help others when he don't even have enough for himself is beyond AMAZING. God Bless his heart.

The system is pretty messed up when children of single parents technically may not be recognized as citizens.

This hits so much harder when you realize the daughter's name means "Love" in Korean. I cried.

I love that the daughter name “Sarang” means “love”.

My dad has been a single father since I was 1 year old. He passed away 3 years ago, at the age of 53. He never dated anyone idk why really. He wasn't perfect but nobody loved me like he did. Whenever I feel lonely and miss him he sometimes appears in my dreams. Luckily he was able to meet my daughter and hold her when she was a baby, on his last call he told me " I just wanted to say I'm proud of you, and I'm not feeling well so I guess this year I'm not going to be here anymore" of course I thought it was one of his frequently jokes, but one early morning a call told me it wasn't a joke. He died by a heart attack, my grandma found him cold in the street, he had depression and was alcoholic but he never gave up on me. He was a great cook and he always taught me to respect myself and others efforts, he had read me tons of books and make stories before sleeping, he taught me to be brave, to choose whatever makes me happy even if he didn't agree on. I remember he sold his car like the father on the video he sold everything and lastly he got help with my grandma she helped us both a lot, so I'm very grateful for the opportunities we had together as the non conventional family we were. I remember he used to cry a lot whenever he watched the movie "the persuit of happiness" the part the dad gets the job he was in tears, always. He told me " one day you will understand why I cry every time I watch this" and he always hugged me tightly in that part. I'm proud of you dad, hope you have found peace wherever you are. One day we'll meet again and we'll share stories together. I miss him so much.

*"Isn't it wrong for society to think that you can't raise a child if you're a single parent and poor?"* *"It's not wrong for a poor person to want to raise a child."* Read that and sink that in.

He’s just so kind. He talks about his ex wife with so much love and respect even tho she left him alone with their child and disappeared..it’s really hard not to hate someone that led you to have such a hard time but he seems so warm hearted and he loves Sarang so much.. he raised her with love and she’s such a cute lovely little girl. I’m proud for him!

So he makes $800 a month, his expenses is $700, and he gives the rest to those in need? What a generous man!

She is adorable and he's so soft spoken. The fact that he talks well of his ex says alot about him as person and a man. She's a lucky and loved lil girl

The daughter is blessed to have a father like him, not many fathers continue to support their children after the mothers die or leave the relationship.

What the crap is that law? Can't register YOUR own child without the mother being present?

I really like the interviewer. She has calming and caring vibe, asks sensitive questions with respect. She does hard interviews well like the gay priest, one room student, etc.

When he started talking about the time he begged for money so he can commit suicide I teared up so hard. I am sorry for all the trouble he and other single parents have to go through and I sincerely hope they don't ever give up...may they all be blessed!

He doesn’t even blamed the mother of her daughter for leaving them. He is so kind, understanding and considerate.

The fact that he doesn’t talk bad about his ex and is understanding says a lot about him. I wish the very best and many blessings for him and his daughter.

South Korea is penalizing these children in order to stigmatize "different" families. The government is hurting the kids, not the parents. Let them get their documents so they can do what can for their children.

Not being able to register a child as a parent... how is this legally possible in an advanced country like Korea? I hope things will change for the better

He put everyone else first before himself, wow he is extremely selfless.

Four things I loved: 1) He doesn't blame his wife for leaving; 2) He doesn't want his daughter thinking badly of her; 3) His message to his daughter; and, 4) The interviewer feeling everything I was a tearing up.

I wonder if he'll ever tell his daughter in the future that he lied about her mother dying in a car accident...kinda crazy how a few generous strangers prevented him from committing suicide, though.

The laws need to change, these laws hurt children.

As a father to a daughter myself, I cried when hearing what he says to his daughter. Let me say this. Thank you for not abandoning her. Thank you for not killing yourself with her. Thank you for working hard for her. Thank you for making her smile. What a beautiful world. 😍

My mother did the same thing... She told me that my dad passed away when I was little, until my 16, she finally told me about the truth, and it didn't change anything for me, because she's the one who take care of me and my dad was never there for me. This man got a lot of courage and he's clearly amazing, I wish him the best with her daughter, may you two be healthy. I'm hoping from the bottom of my heart, all the happiness in the world for you two, you deserve so much, thank you for sharing this with us, you're an amazing parent Ji-hwan.

Deep respect for this father who chose to hold his daughter tightly even when he had to beg on the streets. Men who choose to abandon their wife and children for new happiness... Please look at this father!

'A child growing without a mom/dad will have a hard time.' I say a child would have a harder time growing with a society that looks down on people just bc of that reason.

I'm speachless. This man is such a wonderfull father. He sacrificed a lot in the name of love. He deserves not only profound admmiration, but so much respect as he helps others in the same situation. Incredible situation in such a modern country. Blood ties are stronger and more real than a law that doesn't take into account a parent's love.

I can't believe they suggested that he take his daughter to an orphanage. That's just horrible.

I just started bawling like a baby, this dad is just so strong, he doesn't even blames the mom and Korea needs to do something about this, why make it so difficult and hard to obtain a birth certificate for your child as a single parent there. He is such a beautiful and caring father. He has a strong will and even a stronger heart. His love for his daughter is truly unconditional.

I couldn't help to cry while he dedicated a message to his daughter. There's so much love in that man's heart and he helps so many people in need! I hope all the single parents in need can have the help they need to properly raise their children.

Why is being a single parent shameful in Korea. At least the child has family to look after.

Geez, I mean the guy is a citizen for crying out loud. So when his child is born into HIS country, then why is it so hard for his child to get a lousy birth certificate? 😠 Why? Because the other parent is out of the picture? Lame. 👎 And this guy just does what needs to be done 👍🤘. Major respect. But eventually, I think he needs to tell his daughter about her mom in the future. In my humble opinion.

Coming from a single parent home I will always respect the fact that my mother did everything she could to keep a roof over me and my brothers my head. I saw her struggle a lot sometimes we didn’t have food or the lights would be etc. She did all this without public assistance, so I have major respect for all single parents out there because it’s never easy raising a child(ren)on your own.

Asian Boss, I just want you to know that you're doing wonderful work to help spotlight issues that face groups in the minority. These are the types of videos I want to show governments so that they can make actual change. You're doing a great job, thank you! I wish the best for Jihwan and Sarang and the organization.

*This man is a whole role model to everyone that no matter how hard times you've went through. Just be a father to his daughter and be also a mother to her missing in action wife.* *I was surprised how clean and pure his heart knowing that he never bad mouthing and resent his wife after they were abandoned with nothing but love still existed in his life.* *I salute to him for not just being a father but also being philanthropist and educates somebody that being a single parent isn't bad at all. He may not be the best but he has the purest heart.* 💖

He is a true man :- taking responsibility when taking responsibility is near impossible. His is true love :- loving even when you were wronged and not asking anything in return. He has true courage:- not taking the plunge when taking the plunge is the easier option.
