Great video mate. Long time follower. I was a Chippy to, in Cairns. I decided to go for a drastic career move (primarily for I was sick of busting my arse off in the heat and dealing with shitty clients (self employed), so was looking for another challenge where I could make a difference. So when you started your channel it was an inspiration for me to not only re-think about where I want to be when I'm 60 ish but where I've been and what I've accomplished. I'm nearly finished my training in Healthcare (Uni sucks btw) and have been loving the practical side of my career. Your videos (and I'm sure they will) will help a heap of younger Chippy's (or potential ones) coming through. Well done on where you're at, the skills you'll learn will never leave you and there's always something to learn of fellow Chippys. Tight fits and no pencil marks mate. Congrats and keep at it.
Mate thanks for the support. Its words like these that are humbling to a guy who started doing this with no bloody clue if any one would even watch it. HAHAHA. But yer things are starting to click hey.
I’m 28 and have two automotive trades and 14 years behind me. Knowledge is super important but attitude and work ethic are just as important and will take you way further. You could be the smartest bloke in the world but if you’re not going to put the effort in to do a good job every day or approach your job with disdain then you may as well not do it at all. Decided to make the move to the building industry as I always wanted to be a chippy so currently looking for a mature age apprenticeship here in Melbourne. Your videos have been a great look into the life of someone doing the same thing. Have my core kit of hand tools (plus all the others I’ve gathered over the years 😅) and working on more power tools.
@@midlifecarpentry still on the hunt mate no luck so far as most people are looking for juniors. Aiming for commercial to start out so the wage drop isn’t quite as severe
really enjoying the video's mate. I am a 26 year old who has done labour work his whole life. made a move to the office world and am not enjoying at all. I think its time to head back on the tools
Hearing you there Luke. Although today I'm all sore and tired from two days of tile and concrete demo..... HAHHAHA. Still worth it but. Better than sitting at a desk getting chubby (speaking from experience). Keep us all posted.
