I drive winged micros irl, and the handling is sooo good on the sim. I’ve never driven a non-wing irl tho so those will be a learning process for me as well. My favorite part is definitely the sound, when you have it on the limiter goin into the corner is the greatest sound. Overall, these are a great addition and handle/behave just like the real thing.
Haven't driven it yet, but I see you doing the same throttle stabs in the non-wing micro that kill you in the non-wing sprint. You need to be way smoother on throttle to manage the weight transfer and keep the car gripped up. There is no downforce to cover your mistakes if you start to upset the car by stabbing the throttle. The analogy I like to use for throttle inputs is imagine you are gently squeezing a stress ball with your foot.
i race millbridge wing and non wing irl, it’s not too realistic but it’s still very fun. the millbridge irl is also slightly different than the one in iracing at the moment
Oh boy, that looks like a handful to drive, especially the wingless. If even you are having trouble despite your experience, I can only imagine the struggles I'll be having, haha. Not counting when bringing these to Eldora "Superspeedway" and such, of course. 😅 It'll be interesting to see what public races will look like with this, have we ever had a free car that's this tough to drive before? There's some free content that poses a challenge, but I have to imagine it'll be a steep learning curve for rookie drivers trying out dirt to wrangle one of these.
The only problem for me with the micros specifically at millbridge, is that the track record is a 9.8 irl. I’ve done an 8.8 and I saw someone do an 8.6 in a hosted.
For non wing it’s so realistic, it is a bit too loose mid corner, so i lowered both slides of the rear by -.75 turns. That made it a lot more stable. Other than that, it’s very close to a real non wing micro. Also, the engine is louder because of the Vance & Hines headers. It’s an ongoing thing about those things being the loudest headers ever.
so, what is the difference between this and the dirt midget? (aside from this having a winged version). to me they look the same, so what am i missing here?
Hoping they have a rookie winged series and an A-Class non-wing series. I know they won't do that but I would love to have higher driving standards in the non-wing.
These things are so much fun. Perhaps they're not the accessible 'entry to dirt' option many were expecting though, but happily I'm already out there and racin' so personally I love em'.
I've driven both wing and non wing for years and I'm planning to test it out soon. Hopefully it feels spot on, especially since the car is modeled after my chassis model.
@kneebon5 I just tested the non wing setup since that's what I primarily run. I think that the lack of downforce is exaggerated a bit too much, they shouldn't feel that slippery. Although that may lie within their baseline setups and is hence probably the reason you're having a difficult time keeping the car settled down. I would start with stagger and right rear tire pressure. Overall the car doesn't feel bad, but I think the baseline setups they provide are nothing to stick with. That and I can't tell if these cars are based off of a panhard bar or Jacob's ladder setup. Typically these chassis are on a traditional panhard bar setup directly shifting the axle left and right based on adjustments.
The sound is spot on from real life! My ears are permanently damaged from it. Driving 360 and 410 don’t even come close to the pain in my ear drums! And I was also one that ran a 600 micro at Eagle Raceway in real life 🎉 also that clunk noise between shifts is chain slap 😊
@@racinjoe just wear ear plugs! Then you would be fine, but I always wanted to be able to hear the cars around me. The micros can’t be beat for the money spent! You could race the micros your whole life and the competition is just as stout as running a sprint car against the Outlaws. Let me know if you need any help and where would you be racing? Go to your local track and talk to drivers and car owners in the pits. I recommend at PMP, pace or Triple X 2007 or newer chassis
@@koolkerry would you recommend building my own car from scratch? i feel it would give me a better understanding if any damage happens than buying a pre built car. I have no mechanic knowledge but am willing to learn to build a car.
I can count on kneebon to deliver some quick content! I was going to say "this looks harder than the midget" right as you said it. I'd be curious to hear what current micro drivers say about it, but you having to stay on throttle more reminds me a lot of the stock ecotech midget I've raced. Curious to try it out when the servers die down a little lol.
Yeah i feel like this is going to be the hardest one for iRacing to please people on, because there are so many people who have driven this car, compared to others.
