The “stranger” feeling after a long period of not meeting is real… when Sew talked about it, it just triggered memories for me. Happens everytime. Been almost two years since I last saw my bf. The last time he was in Singapore was during CNY 2020 (and the first Covid-19 case started one/two days after he flew in). We are still together, but the borders closed on us when I thought I could fly over to Melbourne in May. It pains me actually to know belatedly that he actually planned a birthday party for me and had the plans to fly us to Japan and propose to me there... Covid sucks T.T.

🤣Yea, I'm introverted and majority of my friends are extroverts. Idk why this happens but personally I feel more comfortable with an extroverted person.
Truly loved Sew's story on their relationship. I've gone through my share of a 2 year LDR and similar to her, I did feel certain changes in how he acted when he returned for his break. However, LDR didn't turn out so well for me, and in fact scarred me. Apparently the feelings were no longer reciprocated as he started getting closer to another coursemate of his and he decided to call it quits between us. Can't say he cheated for sure, but they were definitely too close (physical contact), and he'd say he's busy studying but turns out having time to go for a trip with her and some other friends. ps. he broke up with me over a phone call. I've doubted LDR since and pledge to not personally be in one anymore, but it's beautiful to watch Sew's relationship worked out. :)
AHHHHH teared watching this. I’m in a long term relationship myself and i can totally relate at the part where the love for him just keeps growing and growing. My bf still amazes me up till this day and we’ve been together since primary 5 HAHA. Can’t wait to get married to my bestie for life next year WOOHOO. I know a couple of friends who are in a relationship for more than 10 years but they did not last beyond 7 years in marriage. Responsibilities and mundane household chores set in so the magic disappears. Reality is not what you imagine (eg him running to hug you), but never forget to find the joy and love in every day’s simple moments!
Awwww so cute :') I can vouch that LDR is not easy. And what Sew said is true, it will be harder if one person has too much time and one person is living life as usual. I went through 3 LDR and learnt my lesson. I was a NEET for 2 years. Wasn't my proudest years but my current LDR boyfriend that I met online, is not a Singaporean. So we had talks about future about who going over etc. And during the whole journey, he stayed patient with me while I grow out of my NEET cocoon. We are together for more than 2 years now and still going strong. :') It's not a scam hahaha, he came to meet me in SG before.
I know how you feel Sew. My heart goes out to you. My wife and my daugther are stuck in Malaysia for now due to bureaucratic nonsense and I can't get them back into Australia for now, which has past 18 months now. However, with the opening up of many countries around the world I hope that things will change soon.
genuinely curious, how come Sew didn't notice Axel has accent before she came to US? like is it not obvious when they facetime eachother? or maybe Axel adapts when they facetime so because it was when f2f, Axel couldn't adapt (to Sew SGrean way)? 🤔 Edit: as usual, great video and lovely hosting by Leah! :)
I’ve been with my now husband since we were 18 (28 now). One thing I’ve learnt is that people around you are going to constantly say things like “you’re young, it won’t last” “go experience the world” “you need to be by yourself before you can be with someone” “you’re too young to be in a serious relationship” Don’t listen to any of it!! Trust your gut and your relationship. All the best!!

This is so sweet and o, wah, I thought every LDR couple sets a time to call sia! I used to get mad at my bf so many times because we don't set a time to call, but that was like at the beginning of our LDR, now I'm like chill cuz like you said, I focus on my work, on myself and stuff while he busy with his work. He's a health care worker, and he got assigned to another state (I'm from Penang, he was assigned to Sarawak) which is literally like across the sea about almost 10 months now. And the saddest thing is that Malaysia borders are finally open, and I immediately bought tickets to fly to Sarawak to meet him, we were so fucking excited but then I was scammed :') my tickets were burnt. And yes, I can easily just buy another ticket but like I just feel too hurt to buy another ticket so soon again, I'm like traumatized, like what if I got scammed again :') It's not cheap, it's almost 1k one way trip. But he said he will be coming back next year Feb so 🤞 and he will end his attachment in Sarawak at least 3 years later, so since he's been there for almost 1 year now, so 2 more years to go? 🤞🤞🤞
i'm currently in a LDR myself for 5 years (vietnam - singapore) and the last time we met was 2 years ago (cause covid). Really thank Sew for sharing your piece on LDR, much needed in time like this and we are hopeful that we can meet each other again in 2022. I'm waiting for my online boyfriend, he had planned to come meet me in 2020. We didn't even get to meet in person before covid happened. It's been two years :( he sent me flowers and a birthday present, we video call almost everyday. But it's still so difficult.
I tear up watching the video ..the story so similar to mine but in different way , lastly she's so pure and funny without double face ..hope they will marry soon 💞
Haha you can always try to apply first cos it’s not guaranteed. You only need to be married when you are collecting the key, which is probably another two to three years from your application
