I am in long distance relationship right now. It is really hard, but it also forces us to really appreciate one another and spend dedicated time. He moved away for an amazing career opportunity. At the same time I moved for experiencing University abroad. For me the most important thing is that we give eachother the space to grow and take those chances. :) Thank you for sharing the article, very helpfull!

I was in a long distance relationship for 2 years! One year of that was as newly weds. It was really hard. I totally agree to your tip. It's so important to communicate with the other person, share silly anecdotes, send pictures of each other. We also trusted each other completely. There was never a second of doubt that he was pining for me and I, for him. We also had dinner together on weekends. On video chat. Timezone wasn't too much between us, so it worked. I always dressed up for such evenings. It felt amazing. Like we're on a date. Lots of love to you, Jodie! I absolutely love the energy you bring in your videos. ❤️❤️

It’s not something I’d do again. It’s hard being separated over long distance. But, it does take both people to make it work, to talk about the details of the day. Especially when you’ve had a long day of work. But LD can’t be a long term thing. It should only be a short term choice. Eventually someone is going to have to make the sacrifice and move!

I was in a LDR for close to two years and here are some things we did to make the time apart more tolerable: 1. Go to the same coffee shop in our respective countries - there's a starbucks almost everywhere and sitting there with your laptop open isn't weird. We'd have a coffee together and talk on skype and it was almost as good as sitting next to each other 2. Watch movies/shows together in real time 3. We made a private blog where we added interesting/funny pictures/articles/etc for each other to discover 4. We planned out the next in person meeting before leaving. This was super important 5. Sent each other care packages - framed photos, notes, snacks, a shirt sprayed with our scents, etc. 6. Perhaps overlooked, but we made time to see our friends and tried not to live in our phones constantly. This made a huge difference because it can be pretty lonely on evenings when everyone is out hanging out and your LD partner is asleep because it's 3am where they are. Good luck with your long distance adventure and hopefully life can bring you into the same time zone soon :)

The article you posted really resonated with me since I have been in a LDR for 5 years :) Communication and being able to resolve conflicts even from across the globe is so much work but so worth it. And being able to be fully present in the moments that you do have together since they are much trickier to come by.

Yes! I was in a long distance for 3 years and we got married! Couldn’t do it without our god Jehovah’s help. We are both spiritual people so it all worked out 😊
