Like you I can not wrap my head around being a senior citizen.

Hello there, Margaret! That slow, sluggish feeling is probably the hibernation phase we animals experience. A natural thing actually, although we don't hibernate, but we slow down for the winter, pick up a few pounds and have a slight lackluster feeling in general. I've been sleeping more, but in the daytime and up at night and foraging in the kitchen all night. I'm also currently in potato chip withdrawal and doing nicely thus far. Grr! I'm glad you got in touch with us. We elderly people have to hang together you know. Lol. I'm 18 and trapped in a body that's definitely not mine and if anyone wants to claim it, I will gladly give it back! Enjoy the weather and the days. Peace and happiness! 💕💕💕

Loved the walk. Loved the church bells. Loved the talk. I am winterizing my place. Right now I am washing my windows, and putting in a few sprinkler lines above ground. I am 67 and love listening to elder folks. I have always loved the elder people. I used to work in the nursing home. Loved it. Your just what I need. Calming with your day to day experiences. I live on my own now for 3 years. I used to live on a farm with my parents until they passed away. Thank You.

Thank you for sharing your walk on the trail! Just 10 years ago I loved hiking and venturing through wooded trails. But now, I have a fear of going anywhere and doing anything alone. I don’t know where it came from. Maybe because now I have no one to do things with. I loved this video.💕

As I’ve said a couple of times before, I miss NE so much especially in the Fall. My son-in-law has started working on my basement apartment in their house. I’m having problems with the change, but I know I have to come to terms with it. My life right now is going through closets, cabinets, drawers - what to keep, what to trash, what to donate. The crafting supplies is the hardest to get rid of. I did take some time to make some bookmarks. I made some for the chaplain of the Hospice group I used to work for a while ago and he has requested some more. He gives them to patients & family members. It gave me a good feeling to know my work was appreciated. What a lovely trail & the bells are so nice. Have a good week with the little one.

I can’t imagine….. but I understand all your feeling.. I’m recuperating from hip replacement surgery, and my husband passed away 5 months ago, so I’m at a new place in life now too, one step at a time and some steps are harder than others. I admire your energy….💖

I think I’m always lazy even when I was young. I was never a ball of fire. I’ve been trying to get up the energy to get dressed and go to the grocery store for two days now. I think I’m actually going yo go to Target tonight. I did take a shower yesterday so that’s good,a couple of days ago I dusted and vacuumed and mopped all my floors in, couple of days ago I dusted and vacuumed and mopped all my floors and my whole house. It’s such a chore I’m crafter, I make junk journals so I’ve been busy with that. I’m gathering up the stuff to make four Halloween journals to put in my Etsy shop. Pretty soon it will be time for the birds to be flying into the wildlife refugees in the area. I’m a big old bird nerd so half of the winter is spent going to the refugees and photographing birds. That’s truly an old people hobby.

That's a lovely place to walk. Do you ever feel a bit scared walking alone? I have a lovely forest walk near me but I'm never 100% relaxed when I walk there alone. It's very quiet. I'm almost 62 and I still feel young (ish)! I hate the word elderly! My mom is 94 and not doing to well, she has gallbladder cancer, end stage. I'm staying with her for now. I got out of jury duty early once and headed to LaSalette to do some walking . Very peaceful in the summer months. did not know there was an actual trail. I too have been in a funk lately , Sam left for school and it’s the fifth anniversary of my brothers death and a few other things going on. Maybe a good long walk is what I need . Great news that construction will finally be starting and you’ll get to spend more time with Squish.

My Mam turned 70 in June and like you she doesn't look even close to that age! I'm close to 50 and also don't feel my age. It's just a number! In the UK if you are home during the day and turn on the TV the ads are all for senior plans for over 50's and funeral plans for over 50's it's crazy. Love watching, enjoy the chats even if you have had a quiet week! My nephew turned 1 on August 24th and we had his birthday party yesterday! We also had my aunt's funeral last Tuesday, It was a blessing to have this time with him, he is such a character! Have a blessed week!

There’s old old and there’s young old and you are definitely young old, as I am. You still have a zest for life and enjoy your little Squish. It’s ok not to be able to do the things you used to do or as quickly. I’ve finally accepted that I’m not lazy because I don’t feel like working on some task from 8 to 5. You've been on my mind. Thank you for checking in. Recently, I have been assisting my sister in downsizing her residence. Sadly, she had to put her husband in a memory care facility recently, so she will be moving to a 55 and over community in September. It's not an easy process to downsize when we're older, but it will be worth it in the end, as you know. I adore hearing about your adventures with Squish!

Your body and mind are registering the beauty of the season around you and the necessity of slowing down enough to consciously take in this amazing gift. I went to Attleboro many years ago at Christmas. It’s absolutely beautiful! I must revisit when seeing friends and relatives in the area. I love that trail! Get a good walking stick. I have a new baby too! He’s two months old. Then I feel my age a bit so we do have to keep moving. Keep enjoying yourself. You have a lot of wisdom to share and I thank you.

I walk at least half an hour a day- sometimes in a park and sometimes as a neighborhood wander. I love that pathway that you were on.

I’ll be 74 in two days and it just doesn’t seem real. I wasn’t happy about turning 70 I kept saying I was 69 for a long time because 70 sounds old. Oddly enough I don’t mind the term old as much as elderly, elderly to me, is mid 80s. Of course if we look back in history and we see pictures of old people and then we find out they’re 50. I think people looked older than then they do now.

10:30. Here’s a challenge. Name the tune the bells are playing. It’s familiar but I can’t remember what it is called but as soon as I heard it I thought that it was out of the range of bell ringing so was very impressed. Trail walking. Take a photo of the map on your phone so if you feel like you have missed a turn or are looking for something in particular you can refer to the map. Next week for us is the start of spring. I love spring. It is like being reborn again. Everyone’s moods are crazy, smiling, a spring in their step, going walking and stopping for a chat. Flowers blooming, birds with their young playing in the birdbath. 😎. Enjoyed the walk!!!

Fall has always been a time for me to look inward, its actually my favorite time of year. The colors changing and everything to do with the season. I always become lazy also, you are not alone in feeling this way. I pushed myself outside this morning for a long walk in nature, just what was needed! I guess it is because summer is an energizing time for me, I am outside more than inside- when I am not working. I am in SE Pennsylvania, the weather has been great this past week, a great time to be outside. I turned 55 this year, and have been thinking about the aging process, what lies ahead, etc. You are not old... I like the word "seasoned". I am enjoying the process of getting older, the aches that are starting ...not so much. Important to keep moving!! Blessings to you Margaret for a great week ahead!

Maybe you need to change your location to change your luck and life. I moved to The Villages in June 2020 and can’t imagine living anywhere else. I love my home, the thousands of activities to do each day, the beauty and ease of living here, the safety! The fun and adventures just makes me feel younger each day.

Been picking bumper crop of cucumbers, tomatoes and peppers at my daughter’s veggie garden boxes. Going to forage for plantain, dandelion and comfrey to make teas and salves for myself and family. Currently pet and house sitting for daughter and her family while they have a few days away in Kelowna to shop and play. So good to see and hear you again, missed you!

I agree, I'm going to be 64 next month. If I didn't know how old I was I would say 46. We are in the process of living, getting older but not old. My mom's doctor once said in a medical report that she was a "woman of advanced age" She was 57 and highly insulted. I'm no good with riddles either. LOL. Definitely get to walking, I'm doing 3.1 miles every day. What a beautiful place to walk, love the bells. Our small town has a church on the square that plays every hour and at none they play How great Thou Art. I think you are just in a bit of a transition period with the house, your DIL going back to work, all the changes. It will pass in time.

I'm glad you checked in and it's okay to be lazy. I've had Covid and I'm so tired of being sick. I'm missing out on life.

I was alone since 1984. I needed 4 hours of sleep.i enjoyed life if anyone had told me I would slow way down in my middle 70s I would ignore them. I’m 77 now and live in Arizona in a consista in my daughter and son-in-laws yard. No stove no kitchen just a fridge and microwave. I miss my kitchen and my independence. I drive do as I please but you know how different this is. Family is wonderful to me. Life is slow she has huge kitchen with any and everything in it but it ain’t home which by the way is 3000 miles away. I am so thankful but I’m old and it’s different.

Hi Margaret..I loved the bells. My Grandma lived in a town called Jordan, New York and her house was right behind a church that played the bells and I loved hearing them. I’m 74 now and Grandma is gone and I still miss her so much. That was such a nice walk. I can’t even go outside because our air quality is so bad here right now and I have asthma. I live in Georgia. Right there with you on feeling unmotivated. Maybe it's the time of the year? I react the same when someone calls us old or elderly. Media does it constantly to anyone over 60. I never thought of my parents in that way. Great walk! Enjoy your week and don't feel the least bit guilty having down time whenever you feel like it. That's a healthy thing to do actually. You are adjusting to your new life and enjoy!

I think older people look younger theses days. I remember my grandmother looking like a real old lady. Tight blue rinsed perm and dowdy clothing. She was only in her 60s! Today's older generation seem to dress younger and take care of themselves better.

Library good idea, or those play dates. Mommy day out are good for two hour socializing with other kids plus you can go until she gets used to it. Or a town playground with an area for toddlers. You already go and do more than I so I’m not any help there. Although I did just think of one thing, checking stores for new yarn selections for a fall/winter project for yourself! Something I want to do but shouldn’t till I use what I already have! 😉

I’m 58 and I absolutely hate my life. I’ve had cancer and the aftermath left me with permanent medical issues. My kids are grown and have struggled badly. I miss my parents and it depresses me; one sister dead and the other hates me. I will likely never live to see a grandchild. I can’t imagine feeling “content”.

Enjoy this time. It is meant to be. I love it when I get like that. I recharge. I caught COVID and negative after two weeks. Boy let me tell you it is so rough. I was doing so good before I caught it. Doing yard work every day and I so enjoyed it. Now I get tired so quick. Pray for me on recovering. Yep 1 step forward 2 steps back.

Margaret school will be starting and you will be able to use the kitchen during their work hours and that may help you with that. Happy about the building permit. Do you have a library toddler program you can take Squish to, our libraries have weekly ones. With book reading, games and crafts.

Hello Margaret! You're looking good, no sign of being in a frump...if that's the word you used, I forgot 😢. You are the least lazy person I've ever known, though we've never met. You took a rest to sit & not work on a project yet still made a video for us. Something like this hits me in winter. And anytime I think I'm having a bad day 😅. Yes, water filtration is important especially with a well. I won't drink this water, or give to my bird or fur babies. However I don't have control over the well out here & had filters on the faucets they clogged when pipe from well broke. I need a filtration system put in this teeny home. You will be over the moon when can settle in yoir new home. In the meantime you make the best of situations even when people are....very bad business people. You make lemon merengue pie out of lemons. Lord I wish I was not fasting sweets. Have fun with Squish this week 💕.
