Yeah people are ridiculous about this. I'm very light skin, but can tan beautifully. My dad was a dark Dominican, and my mom is medium brown Dominican . I actually took after my great grandma on my dad's side who was full Japanese. Yes, Dominican Republic has a full Japanese community. I just identify with my culture, not any race,

I am too, I feel like there's a biracial supremacy that was created by the black community, where people think that they're the only ones who are mixed, when plenty of multiracial people globally have the same amount of black as a biracial or even less, so why in the hell is biracial the standard for mixed? Plenty of us mixed Latinos are only 50% black like a biracial or even less and also mgm Americans or Caribbeans can be only 50% black yet nobody mentions us when talking about mixed race? Why is biracial the only mixed race?I think it's because whiter combinations can call themselves "biracial" this is why the standard is white passing!

It's interesting how black people will tell me that I look 100% black yet other races do not see me as fully black. I think the goal post has moved when it comes to "looking mixed" I read somewhere how the standard of a mixed race woman is now someone who looks like Jenna Fumes (basically more white passing) it's strange because mixed can look like anything!

Ive been told I have “good hair” by black women which makes me uncomfortable. But when I'm tan I get told that I look fully black. I have had people from Africa point at me and call me mulatto. I used to get called "mulatto" as if it were my name by people that I knew. Yep, 25% makes a *big* difference. People would ask me: - Is your dad white? - Where are you from, ethnically? - Are you from the islands? I'm a little over 30% non-black, and it's very apparent in my phenotype. I have light skin and eyes, and relatively keen features. My hair is a mixture of kinky and curly. I have such an ambiguous phenotype despite being majority black because I'm the product of many mixed race people on both sides of my family. My dad was nearly 50% white, even though both of his parents were socialized as black. It's honestly a bit of a relief to stop pretending I have the same experience as an UABW. From dating prospects to jobs, it would be disingenuous to ignore the privileges my phenotype affords me. That's why even though I'll always be a strong ally for UABW, I'm going to focus on finding community with people who I can more readily relate to.
