Being Too Nosey 

I don’t know what irked me more, Doug touching and moving the girls hair or the old man saying “ you can’t always tell by the color of their skin”

The judge getting jumpscared at the beginning took me OUT 😂😂

Every time I move into a new rental, I spend at least 2 hours filling out the condition report. I normally contradict everything they have written, because these landlords want to rent out slums, but be given back a house or apt that looks like new, & when it looks the same as when you move in, they keep your security deposit

For once, the landlord has reasonable paperwork. People should READ their lease-- ALL OF IT!

Never move in before the landlord has finished whatever repairs needs to be done. Let him finish or keep looking for a different place.

Even if the plaintiff's never told him about the mold he could clearly see it for himself. As a landlord I'm sure he viewed the unit before they moved in and saw the mold. I would think he should have done something regardless if the tenant said anything about it. And based on the before picture of the bathroom , I believe the plaintiff that the burn mark was already on the floor and other damages were there already too.

What on earth did the landlord say at the end? “They seem like very lovely people” and his response was “sometimes you can’t tell by the color of their skin, right?” I wish they hadn’t let that slide and asked him what he meant by that

They left that apartment spotless! Even the oven was sparkling clean! They are unicorns! And they got rid of the mold in the bathroom, even though they did a sloppy paint job. I would have happily repainted (that has to be done anyway) & only charged them for repairing the floor.

Why is everyone so surprised when someone actually speaks the truth. He said exactly what he meant to say. No beating around the bush.

SO WE NOT GONNA ADDRESS THE FACT THAT THIS MAN VIOLATED FAIR HOUSING LAWS AND SAID HE JUDGED THEM BASED ON THE COLOR OF THEIR SKIN!???? Whew…. Whatever state/city this guy is in better shut him down asap or sue his ass for violating federal fair housing laws!!!😡😡😡😡😡

In the after verdict interview. Doug asked the old creepy racist. They seemed like lovely people. And old racist said you can’t always tell by the color of their skin. WTH was that??? Did the editor take off his headset and just not listen to the interview and he just trusted it was ok? I hope anyone who rents from him watches this mini interview so they know what kind of landlord he is.

In the hallway interview with Doug, the defendant meant it exactly as he said it. If someone is speaking of a person's character or personality and the other person mentions their skin color, they definitely are bigots. Nobody else is thinking abt the color of a person's skin but THEM, which is why they dont have any qualms saying so.

Goes back to never sign paperwork without reading and understanding it ! I think they moved in the father and landlord found out and they didn’t want to pay extra charge, so they mutually parted but both sides were angry at each other about it so here we are .

Back in 85 I sued a landlord that wouldn't return my deposit. I left because of a noisy neighbour. The resident manager handed me a blank lease, asked me to read it and fill it out myself later. I got my deposit back, he tried to counter sue me for 3 months rent which he said took that long to rent the apartment. However someone from a lower floor moved into my place right after I moved out. Judge could see through the lies.

Has Doug Llewelyn ever asked a reasonable question that brought an interesting answer?

As a renter I am always amazed about the lay back attitude these renters take. It's obvious that you must pay for damage sometime. Wear and tear after 6 mths. Please!!!

As a single professional women in the 90s I HAD TO RENT a DUMP to keep my animals after a breakup. MET My hubby who is a contractor, we have done everything for over 30 years. Our landlords have passed and still rent from kids. You can Rent a so called dump and make it beautiful. You just have to have a good relationship with your landlords, never miss a day in rent. Adding Granite and replacing everything that is needed to make a home helps!

Harsh lesson on C.Y.A (Cover Your A**). Always read something you're signing and get all amendments in some form of writing! They did an amazing job cleaning up for the move out. I really liked the plaintiffs personalities, they both seemed sweet.

Idk if she’s all the way there… even at 18 with my first place I opened and examined everything for my move in inspection and took in depth video. Don’t just sign and then expect money back for damage!

The one thing I will say is, the Planiff are honest people. With that said, I own rental property, and everything he's withholding is legit. I had a tenant move out and we kept all the security deposit, due to excessive holes in the wall, repainting a bedroom, replacing a damaged door, and trim. We had to resand and restain the living area because they had potted plants and left ring stain on the hardwood floor. I spent 5k to repair the damage they did to the home. I've been renting properties for 15 years and that was the first time I withheld security. I understand holes in the wall that just living in damage and I'm okay with that. But it was like someone took a machine gun and shot up my house, that was the amount of holes I had to patch, which meant I had to paint the whole wall. Lived in damage is one thing, destruction of property is another.

And the color of their skin🤦🏾‍♀️ that was uncalled for, smh
