Myself and Tam@themunrobagger decided to head to Glen Lyon to take on the round bike trip round Loch lyon and taking on the Munro Beinn Mhanach but due to high river levels crossing the rivers we decided to take on the Corbett Beinn nam Fuaran turned out to be a great day , very tiring but great.

Nice Corbett Ally, always good to have a backup plan when the rivers are high. The flowing clouds on your lunch timelapse were lovely.

Hi Andy Plan B turned out to be a great day its a cracking cycle round the loch its self but would recommend in the summer due to the amount of river crossings , the Corbett was quite short as was straight up and down but great views down the loch it has a real feeling of remoteness even thought its not to far in. looking forward to getting back up to do the Munro. Atb Ally 👍

Brian it's a cracking bike ride round the loch but would recommend in the summer when the rivers are a bit lower but loads of camping spots round it , bumer never got the munro but still good to get the corbett done. Had a cracking day out with tam we were both do by the end 🤣. Atb Ally 👍

Great wee video Ally! Even though you didnt get the Munro it still looked like great fun! Those river crossings 😂😂😂😂 youre not cycling over those easily. Looked like there was lots of good camping spots along the loch? Good for a wee overnight trip....fantastic mate! Paul

Thanks Paul really enjoyed it the route made for a different day reather that yhe usual route in , brilliant cycle route round the loch lots of rivers so would be better in dryer weather but had a cracking day was hard going thought I had broken Tam with that route 🤣🤣 al in a really enjoyable day. Gives me an excuse to go back up that route to to do beinn Mhanach. looking forward to the trip 😀 Atb Ally 👍

Well done guys.I would of crashed and drowned trying to cycle through water that deep.😂😂. Loch Lyon has a remoteness feel to it .That was my way in for Hesgearnich and Creag Mhor by bike.Love doing alternative routes when I can.😀🚶‍♂️‍➡️🚲

Hi Andy yip I didn't fancy doing beinn Mhanach the usual way. I thought this would be a better option more scenic and there is a feeling of remoteness wee necer seen anyone. Was disappointed about beinn Mhanach as the corbetts was a great option as we hadn't do it before. Will be back to do beinn Mhanach probably just cycle up the the North side and of the loch to do it might wait till summer though the last river is pretty deep. All in ne and tam had a great day. As you said alternative routes are great for the usual .🤣 Atb Ally 👍

What a day Davie brilliant to get the bike back out on a super route just those river crossing were a bit high but in summer would be perfect and there's load of camping spots as well, it was my turn for the slips and falls this week i was entertaining Tam 🤣roll on the weekend to do it all over again. Ally 👍👍👍

Nice one Ally, glad you still got a hike done even tho it wasn’t 1st choice. It’s a lovely way in and yeh, there are a few river crossings😂😂. The one where I dumped my bike to do the munros looked dodgy when I was there and there wasn’t as much rain as you prob had to deal with. It’s still a great cycle up there, altho I wouldn’t fancy lifting my Ebike over the gate now.😂😂 ATB Frank

Frank it was a cracking route it was after seeing your video i thought about using that route as an alternative i have to say it was great even with about 20 river crossings 🤣 it was my turn to fall in the rivers and in the snow and lost my gloves what a day, i wouldn't fancy taking the e bike through the deeper rivers probs be ok in the summer though, it had that remoteness felling about it never seen anyone all day just me and Tam had a great day out again. Atb Ally 👍👍

Thanks Andy it was a brilliant day first time on the bike this year so it was hard going and good we got the corbett in as never got to the munro but will be back to do it. I ended up in most of the rivers 🤣 bike kept stopping in the middle of them so of them were to deep, but had a brilliant day out with tam great company. ATB ALLY 👍

Great video Ally. Can I ask which Garmin you have? It seems like you rode along the top of the dam instead of having to lift the bikes over the gate at the south end as Frank did. I might have to walk that way next time to get my dog over, he's too big to lift 😉 Nice seeing the outlet from the tunnel all the way from Glen Lochay and beyond, lots of water coming though. Sorry I'm a bit of a hydro nerd 🙃

Hi I have the garmin 66sr , we went up the right hand side had to lift the bikes over the fence to get on to the dam then we cycled along the dam but there's a gate at the other end we had to lift the bike over again its a great route and has a real remoteness feeling great track all the way round but a lot of river crossings think the summer would be the best time when the rivers aren't as high. Atb Ally 👍

@@Allysmountainwalks6462 Thanks, great advice 😃I'm always a bit weary when reading walk reports or watching hiking vlogs and they mention stiles or locked gates. My Skye is a bit of a wuss and not one for climbing stiles or gates 😉I've had to lift his front legs over fences and then lift his bum afterwards, but he's not happy about it. Better when he finds a hole under the fence that sheep have made 🙃I'm leaning towards the newer 67s as it seems to have a few advantages over other models. Also looking at the inReach mini, but I would maybe like to have the option of having the route in it rather than relying on my phone. I'm using offline route maps from Walkhighlands usually. But also carry ordinary map and compass. Other times I print out and laminate the route maps from Walkhighlands if I don't have a map of the area. ATB Karl

@karlejnarch I used to use my phone but it was running the battery done really quick and In winter, the cold made it worse so when I got the garmin it was some difference as battery life is brilliant, I still download the gpx files from walk Highlands and import in to the the garmin. I still have the app on my phone with he gpx aswell for back up. Took me a while to get to grips with the garmin but it is the most important piece of kit and great at that. Atb Ally 👍

@@Allysmountainwalks6462 Thanks again Ally, your advice and remarks are greatly appreciated.👍 I'm just a newbie at hillwalking - at 67! Came to Scotland last July with only one Corbett in the bag from way back in January 2006. Seeing I was the sole carer for my late wife, who was in a wheelchair. I kept to the low grounds all those years. Returned from Scotland in November with 6 Sub2000, 7 Fionas, 3 Corbetts and even 2 Munros. Had to bail out on another few summits but they will be there for another day. Planning to come back over for a couple of months in the spring. Will the rivers flowing into Loch Lyon still be this bad in April and May, do you think? ATB Karl🙂

@@karlejnarch That's great Karl great to see you have done a mixture of the hills there all great in there own way brilliant walks, i think the rivers shouldn't be as bad by then as wee have snow over the last few months up there and its been melting so keeping the rivers high. Keeping my fingers crossed the weather will start to change as got some big days out this year in the mountains. Atb Ally 👍
