'Belfast Bus Set On FIRE with Petrol Bomb as Tensions Rise in Northern Ireland'
Rioters set a hijacked bus on fire during another night of violence in Northern Ireland.
Projectiles and petrol bombs were thrown at police on Wednesday night.
The Police Federation said officers faced the unrest in West Belfast.
More than 40 police officers were injured in parts of Northern Ireland over Easter.
Prime Minister Boris Johnson appealed for calm and condemned the unrest.
The disturbances have been blamed on loyalist frustrations over the NI protocol in the Brexit deal.
A decision not to prosecute those who attended a large-scale IRA funeral in 2020 has also caused tension.
The funeral of Bobby Storey drew a large crowd, despite coronavirus restrictions.
Unionists are also angry at police for not prosecuting Sinn Fein politicians who attended the funeral.

Bus driver got a week old baby and mother off the bus after being pelted. The video starts from when he was off it. The kids took the handbrake off then setting the bus in motion.

I’m actually from Northern Ireland, it’s primarily about the Irish Sea border and Sinn Fein members going to an IRA funeral kicked it off. Also, these aren’t protests.

This is not protesting. They don't like that police confiscated drugs from the criminal gangs that call themselves UDA, UVF and RHC, aka LCC. The LCC and, the political side, DUP don't like the police decisions on not prosecuting breaches of covid regulations of their political opponents. Even though they also break these regulations themselves. They also don't like that leaving the EU means that the UK will be outside the EU and will be treated as such. This has all been too much for their minds and has now came to a head just as anyone throwing a tantrum would do. Luckily it is only a few streets. Not as some news outlets have been claiming. To sum up, it's not a protest but a tantrum. It is not everywhere in Northern Ireland, just a few streets. It is not because of one issue but many.

Brexit will not be reversed. Northern Ireland will remain part of the UK. You have both and it is up to the UK Government to work through the issues. Northern Ireland isn't going anywhere. You can't simply "dump" it out of The UK. Ireland won't take it off your hands. The majority of the "rioters" in Northern Ireland are teenagers - stronger policing would put an end to that nonsense.

@@georgebrowne5935 yes the violence is been orchestrated by the loyalist group the UDA. They are very unhappy with the increased scrutiny that they are receiving from the PSNI. There have been a number of arrests of their members along with weapons and drugs seizures. This is a criminal issue. But you are correct that it won't be easy. The loyalists still maintain high levels of support within their communities and with the DUP. The rhetoric coming from the DUP and the UK Government has not helped the situation. It may take the loss of life before this violence and rioting is brought to an end. But this is just the start of many months of unrest and violence in Northern Ireland. When Unionists are unhappy it usually results in violence spilling out on to the streets.

Where? and the lack of funding in Working Class areas for education etc. has not come to fruition over the years. These issues should have been dealt with by the DUP Party before the Brexit Vote. If we want to own Northern Ireland? We must own the Problems along with it also.

Northern Ireland is governed by the terrorists - Loyalists and republicans. Neither cope very well with change. Right now it looks like no matter what Johnson does it is going to increase the tensions and lead to more violence. He created this mess so it is up to him and Westminster to fix it.

You sure it has nothing to do with the unionist drug cartels flexing their muscles to intimidate the police after they recently seized their product and arrested some of their goons? If it really is about customs checks on some goods moving across the Irish Sea, why did Foster reject the plan that the May government negotiated which would of avoided such a perceived border? What viable alternative have the DUP put forward? That's a stupid question; isn't it? The DUP proudly carries on Ian Paisley's tradition of saying "NO!" to everything while never offering anything constructive. Anyone who paid attention to opinion polls would have known that the harder the form Brexit took, the more sentiments in NI would favor a United Ireland, yet the DUP consistently pushed for the hardest Brexit possible. The DUP has done more to make a United Ireland likely than anything the 'shinners' ever have done.

The answer has been to make NI the Quebec of a united Ireland. The south doesn’t even attend church anymore. The anxiety of becoming Catholic is old,.
