The Al Jazeera presenter knows more about N.I. than any British politician that I've ever heard... that tells us everything we need to know about the integrity of the British Government towards N.I. Nothing has changed since the 60's regarding how N.I. is viewed from across the water.
Northern Ireland is better of joining the Republic of Ireland and Scotland a independent country. No point hanging on to a dying decayed entity that is UK. It's a broken country.
@@Dom-fx4kt Arlene Foster has publicly stated if United Ireland happened she would move to GB. I think alot who could afford it would follow. This could be catastrophic for the minority Loyalists numbers and hopefully leading to us all living peacefully together. After Brexit alot more Unionists welcome a United Ireland as they know it's better for their future.

Please double the length of this program, but do not extend the number of questions asked. That way we can actually hear what your panelists have to say without constant "ok, yep, yep, erm, eh" rushing them to finish their statements. I don't want to hear an AJ narrative, I want to hear what the panelists have to say. And every episode they're constantly being cut off when they give an answer to a complex question that doesn't fit into a neat little 15 second slot. If you're going to tackle complex questions about complex issues, then plan for the answers to last in the minutes, plural, as opposed to seconds. It's every episode and it's frustrating to have answers being rushed or cut off.

And when the time comes, all the fence-sitters will vote to keep Northern Ireland. They all know what side their bread is buttered on. @@donnachamcgowan It didn't look good for Sinn Fein, SDLP, Alliance and even the Irish Government to stoke up tension by threatening that there would be a return of Republican violence if there was a land border. What did they expect to happen? Seriously? Loyalists and Unionists feel just as strongly about the issue of a border in the Irish Sea. The Protocol is simply not workable. A sovereign nation voted for Brexit and should be allowed to leave the European Union as one state. The pandering to the threat of IRA violence has been a disaster from start to finish and that includes the GFA. There surely is a compromise somewhere and something more acceptable than the Protocol has to be found or unfortunately we will have more of the same.

I need to read more about the currant situation. My first thought is now that the UK left the EU....Brexit, Republic of Ireland will use any means to choke NI out. Ireland has gotten much more politically involved and are using tactics used on them. I could list British oppressions of the Irish people over 100s of years. The anger runs deep. Ireland was created one island, by God {if you will} It should not be divided. Why? It won't stop the violence and then it'll be the Irish footing the bill for policing this violence. Ireland and Britain agreed in the Good Friday Agreement that the people of Northern Ireland will decide their own fate, so it's not for either of them to force them to do anything.

This was good. The guest had a lot of information. They wanted to tell and say what going on and why. But the host of the show kept cutting trying to cut them off n the host wanted to make his point n get his messages across. But is the problem with cable television and broadcasting. They are sumtimes to short or they try and fit a massive problem in the world, in 24 min or less. Most times u get 1 or 2 min on the news, and with problems like this you can't sometimes fit what needs to be said in that little bit of time. They should took as long as they needed, then cut n edit what they want they, then they should at less have the whole interview online, they can make it as long as they want.
As an Irish person I totally relate to everyone in China that wants to be independent. Ideally, something like the UN should hold a referendum in disputed territories. If the majority (~60%) want to be independent, then the UN should help them set up their own government and declare them a country. It’s so unfair that foreign governments that don’t care about you, decide if you’re allowed to be independent, and not the people who live there themselves. What I mentioned above is similar to the good Friday agreement and it literally ended conflict (mostly). “Riots are the voices of the unheard” - MLK. If people believe there is a fair democratic system into getting independence, they don’t resort to violence. Most people who fight for independence have tried all the peaceful routes and failed. They use violence as a last resort. This is a way to make sure lives aren’t lost again. Although Bigger countries will probably just get their population to disputed territories.
But violent riots are not a rare thing in Northern Ireland. It happened in 2019, it happened in 2013, it happened in 2011, it happened in 2005... and these are just major ones I'm talking about. Smaller riots happen every year.
