Join us as we try a whole range of traditional Taiwanese breakfast foods at one of the top breakfast spots in Kaohsiung. Taiwanese people eat many different kinds of street food for breakfast. We tried a whole bunch of them, including Dan Bing (breakfast crepe with egg), Sha Bing with a delicious yet spicy filling, turnip cake; bao zi (steamed buns with broth and meat) and some things for which we don't even know what it was after eating it. We will definitely return to try more of the street food in Taiwan! We will be living in Taiwan for the coming weeks/months. Din Tai Fung is my default recommendation for good eats in Taiwan. It is a little pricier, but the good food and service IMHO are well worth it. Be warned of the long waiting times though, as they're wildly popular. I would suggest going at an off-peak time. For your consideration, perhaps Tainan City would be of interest to you for a short visit, as there are quite a few historical heritage sites there, and it is not too far from Kaohsiung. Stay safe and enjoy the rest of your stay in Taiwan!

The whitish cake is made from ground rice, together with slices of radish,then steamed into the cake you ate. We call that”radish cake”

2:30 "little" breakfast? I can't imagine what a big breakfast would be like! My wife is Taiwanese but I've only been once. I love the desserts and bubble teas, the rest of Taiwanese cuisine is so-so to this Canadian. Exploring the night markets and trying new things was a highlight!

I would add 掛包 Qua Bao to the list. It's Taiwan hamburger that went famous in UK. Now you have to try the original in Taiwan but it's hard to find because it's a very traditional food.

The brown drink is米漿(mǐ jiāng) made by rice and peanut. The Vegetable buns inside is Chinese chives. Chinese name is 韭菜盒子(Jiǔcài hézi) Next time when you go to traditional Taiwanese breakfast store please try below…. 1.Local Kaohsiung drink--- Black tea mix soy milk. 紅茶豆漿(Hóng chá dòu jiāng) or 紅茶豆奶(Hóng chá dòu nǎi) 2.Local Taiwanese drink --- Rice milk mix soy milk 米漿加豆漿(Mǐ jiāng jiā dòujiāng) 3.Sticky rice balls---飯糰(Fàntuán) 4.Chinese Biscuit-燒餅(Shāobǐng) 5.Sweet Chinese Biscuit -甜燒餅(Tián shāobǐng) My hometown is Kaohsiung but I am living in LA now. I hope you are like your life is Taiwan and Kaohsiung.

I’ve been to this place when I was in Kaohsiung in July! Yes the food is super tasty and actually I ordered turnip cake with scrambled egg. Just amazing. The brown drink is a brown rice & peanut drink. A lot of people call them rice milk but there’s no dairy product in it, just like soy milk. Watching this in the middle of the night just made me super hungry 😂

We feel comfortable here in Kaohsiung. Really nice place. It's a bigger city, but still feels very relaxed. The breakfast was great. We don't eat out breakfast so often, we should do it more.

Last brown drink or liquid is the peanut butter / rice powder drink with sugar....sometimes they put ground sesame seeds as well. It’s called Mi Jiang 米漿）

How did I miss this earlier. I love Taiwanese breakfast. It is so good. The Luo Buo Gao is a radish base not turnip. It is so good with Huasan sauce. This is making me so hungry and I just ate lunch.

Wow! You went to one of the most famous breakfast restaurant in Kaohsiung! It was very very very crowded before the corona virus pendamic. One of their best selling items is Tsai Pu with fried egg in Mantou (饅頭夾菜脯荷包蛋). Give it a try if you eat there again next time.

a fast food restaurant called Dan Dan Han Bao (丹丹漢堡) is famous in South of Taiwan. You could go there in KaoHsiung and try some food! (sorry for my poor English) =_=

10:01 That is peanut butter milk, one of the two Taiwanese breakfast drink. The other is soy bean milk. To make them is easily. Soaking soy bean or peanut overnight. Then grounding them in the early morning and add sugar, water.

That turnip cake ,we called radish cake.Made by white radish or daikon, but in Taiwan we usually called daikon only that Japan planted.

Wow! Great job! You tried this. This is my favorite breakfast spot in Kaohsiung. The taditional way to eat 油條 is put it in "hot" soybean milk, you should try next time, haha. Definitely better then that with cold soybean milk. Another suggestion is eating 肉包 (pork bao) must go with their special sauce (特製醬油) which is put on the front table beside the counter. The sauce you put in pork bao in this video is just ok but not "special". The flavor will be totally elevated to another level with the special sauce. My no.1 beef noodles in Kaohsiung is 老紀牛肉麵 (高雄市鼓山區明華路222-1號), you must try. Near to your place. Then, after 老紀 beef noodles, 港城豆花 is nearby and would be a perfect ending of a meal.

It is a very famous traditional breakfast shop in ZuoYing area for its price and variety. The brown drink is a mixture of rice and peanuts called ( mi- Jiang 米漿) . Salted soy milk( xian dou jiang 鹹豆漿）is something worthy to try if you have a chance.

You need to try TAIWAN fruits that the season fruits has pineapple, watermelon and Guava. The fruits are very delicious and cheaper. The mango season just come in .. you must to try ... enjoy your trip 😃

Had you tried "丹丹漢堡" (Dan-Dan Hamburg)？It's a chain fast food only in Kaohsiung, you can go there for breakfast or brunch.

have u guys been to a Belgium beer bar called "BEER TALK" at The Pier-2 Art Center? theres beer is amazing! if u guys live in Zuoying u must go "The Lighthouse Bar & Grill",the best time to go is on the weeken after 10 pm. also recommend "Taroko Park" n "E-DA Theme Park".

The brown drink you had is simply called Rice Milk. or en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rice_milk. Thank you for visiting and showing my home country and my home city. Go and find a creek nearby that has hot spring. There are many all over Taiwan and they are open and free, and you get to see the mountain side of the country.

你們居然知道油條沾豆漿.這確實是好的吃法.很多遊客因為不了解.就吃不出好滋味.就拿皮蛋來說吧.直接吃味道不怎樣.可拿去煮成皮蛋瘦肉粥再加點肉鬆.吃起來感受完全不同.夏天還有一種涼拌吃法.皮蛋豆腐淋上一點醬油或醬油膏.上面撒上蔥花或柴魚或肉鬆和著吃就可以很美味.有機會你們也試試順道一提...你們喝的豆漿應該不是傳統口味.現在的豆漿多數都加入奶製品進去.如果你們喝到傳統真豆漿.就會吃出一股青味或說是菜味最後你們喝的那杯是"米漿".主要原料是炒過的米以及炒過的花生研磨過後再煮熱.裡面當然會加點糖及水
