An in-depth look at the New England Patriots' Dime 5-0 package with a focus on the Odd Mac 0 call. This features a 5-man rush with various stunts, twists, and games. The coverage is what the Patriots call, "Cover 0." It's Cover 1 with the 4 DBs underneath covering the 4 eligible receivers, man-to-man, and a Deep Safety dropping down to cover the Running Back and the other Safety playing the Deep Middle 1/3.
The video contains an explanation of 5-0 fronts, various presentations of the concept, a review of 2-, and 3-man stunts/twists/games with diagrams, and then film from the 2018 Patriots' playoff run, to demonstrate the different calls, all in the Patriots' language/terminology.

This is such a good explanation of bear front stunts, as well as what people (who know more about football than me) mean when they talk about being able to scheme up pressure. It seem like one benefit of this (beyond having the QB starting to throw without fully weighting his front foot even when the pocket is clean) is that coaches and players may have to spend a great deal of time trying to prepare for this in advance. The more time you can get the other team to waste during practice, the better. Thanks Coach. I'm having so much more fun watching the games since I found this channel.

As an OL coach, I hate this. As a DL coach, I love this. Our big rival that we need to beat runs a myriad of 5-0 games and other sims/creepers. I think OL coaches need to find a menu of answers to counter these. You defensive guys are getting too good to just sit in Half-Slide on every pass attempt! Good stuff, Vass

100% agree! I’m just so new at Adobe Premiere (I learned it last week), so I didn’t want to further slow down production because I’d promised it two weeks ago! I will definitely add that, as well as more diagrams, and actual video of me. Thank you for the feedback!

Great video Coach! If it isn't too much of an editing pain I would love to see the drawn-up version just for a second before the clip of it being run. Although I did really enjoy you going through the concepts and then explaining them again during the clip. It made learning/remembering it much easier.

Thanks Coach. This wasn't that easy as a novice-level viewer but I got there by the end I think, especially with understanding the stunts on the line. It's interesting to see how it works as a synergistic approach and get the media and fans pick out one player as being the one to praise.

Bear is making a big comeback. With all the RPO and multiple receiver offenses, it turns into basketball all on grass, with most teams taking away the inside hard and letting anyone in man key on their one guy. It lets you match up guys easier and still lets a rushers rushers rush hard. It makes run fits hard sometimes and rely puts a lot of trust on coverage men IDing run and pass. But its fun to watch and guys like Walters, DC at Illinois and Purdue new head coach, asre basically at this point base bear teams. at least Illini were last year.

Great video coach! Fan from overseas Turkey! I have a question though, how would you coach this schemes if this is a run play? do they loop again or when they feel the run they just go 5 0 defense gap control scheme? Thanks again!

I would say continue to learn how and why things are happening. Look for clinics given by football coaches. You will start to notice patterns. It’s a long process, but every bit of info helps.

Thanks for the video. I'd like to see your thoughts on how Patriots defended Lamar Jackson in 2019. I saw them line up 3 rushers to the left (offense right) & 1 opposite to force LJ8 to scramble left, I'd love to see your breakdown of it. Thanks!

Hey, sorry for the dumb question, but I'm kind of learning all the Xs and Os of the game. A lot of times they aren't disguising this at all, so are they just completely unconcerned about the offense checking out into man beaters when they see it? I would think with the Pats versatility in their positional groups they'd be able to run some pretty tricky rotations, but with 4, sometimes 5 DBs all the way over on one side of the formation, I would think they run the risk of getting toasted deep by teams with incredible receiving cores. (great vid btw)
