Phil Simms breaks down "The Wind Bowl" and "The Drive" on Giants' road to Super Bowl XXI. We also talk legendary Parcells and Belichick coaching tactics.
It's cringe talk to hear the likes of Skippy downgrading Belichick for talking bad about Skippy's boy. This shit has been going on for generations. Coaches have to establish an order, a culture, and find ways to hold everybody to it. No, Brady did not create that in NE. Brady got his ass chewed out just like Simms, just like Bradshaw, just like Montana, and all the rest. Of course, things change over time, but many newbies to the sport don't even remember 2000 and 2001, let alone 2007. Am I talking ancient history? Am I talking Sumeria, or the NFL?
Uhh Belichick even said that Tom Brady is the one who asked him to rip him, so there goes your theory. Now that Bill doesn’t have the respect of someone like Tom in the locker room, it all goes to sht. There is no culture. Stop with the Brady belichick nonsense. I hate the comparisons because I love them both but you will lose every time if you bring up Brady….by a LOT.
Agreed. Wth does Skip know about football. Did he ever play it? Brady and Belichick needed each other to get to the mountain top. I don't like what Belichick did with the team last year but what I appreciate is him realizing I screwed him and I'm gonna fix it. I think O'Brian coming back is going to make a difference
@@dml143 Sometimes Belichick reads his Press coverage and gets a bit too in love with his brilliance. The whole OC thing blew up in his face last year and I think he did it out of spite for the way the media was questioning the great Bill Belichick. Benching Malcolm Butler and even though he knew that he needed Butler out there, he just stuck with his stubborn BS and kept him out. Bench him for a series. The kid won you the SB the year earlier.
@@Relayer6a I mean even before Football Bill B comes from a Military family. The idea that no one is above to the team is his core principle. Then working with L.T and watching him piss away his talent and legacy on vanity really helped to shape the Bill we know today. Dude would gladly sacrifice one super bowl win to hold true to his principles just to come back and win 2 more. Fortunately, he is lucky enough to work with GOATS on both sides of the ball.
Think about how crazy it is that Julian kept making the Patriots 53 man roster for 3 or 4 seasons before he was even a regular starter. Then, the man gets in the game, becomes a starter, and has a hall of fame career winning Superbowl MVP. No fuckin 4 year punt returner in history has then began playing slot receiver and become the best receiver in the NFL at the time.
Easy there cowboy. Hall of fame? Best NFL receiver? Not even in the galaxy of those things. Jules was amazing and arguably our top 2 most dependable receiver in NE, but there’s levels to this. Even Wes was a much much better receiver and paved the way for Jules. Wes just got really really unlucky with injuries and some untimely drops. Jules had drops towards the end of his career too, it just so happened that his clutch catches happened at the right time when new england’s luck was going the other way, otherwise it’s Wes that’s sitting with the super bowls. The game can be unforgiving like that.
@@knowyourenemy50 If you think Wes Welker was better than Julian Edelman you definitely are not a Pats fan and didn't watch the games. Julian was a better receiver who came up bigger in the biggest moments. It's nonsense to call Wes better than Julian. That's only true if you judge careers and football players by stats and stats alone.
