@B M-Y Depends on which Bencic shows up...imo Osaka cant beat Andresscu...Bianca will beat her off the court. Right now Osaka is too fragile on the court when she falls behind but Andresscu is not fragile at all. She's lioness. Serena for the first time was fragile this year.imo
Bdawg02 yep, I’m not really a fan of Andreescu but she is no doubt the future of women’s tennis. An amazing all around game and she is so mentally tough, she is exactly what women’s tennis needs.
Bdawg02 It’s because I’m a huge Simona fan and I just know with Bianca in the way, simona’s not gonna win a lot of slams anymore, same with Serena. Bibi is really kind and an amazing talent though, so I look forward to watching her.
Bianca from 200+ ranking summer of last year & not able to qualify to the US Open to hoisting the cup this year & moving up, no....catapulted herself to top #5 is a testament to her drive, motivation, determination & hard work. Of course credit is also given to her entire team for guiding her along the way. What impresses me about Bianca is that she's a smart player, that wraps everything else in her game. Her ability to recover is admirable considering her age. This shows that tennis is more than just ones ability to hit the ball, one has to be really smart as well. I just hope she's able to avoid injury if she wants a career as long as Serena's.
To win against bencic is absolutely the highlight of this tournament if you look at the niveau of this match! In comparison with the final is this match defenetly better!
Kevin Smith no, Osaka is a really streaky player. These two have all the tools to be successful, they both have power and touch. Osaka is just a plain power hitter who will have some good days and some bad days. She’ll probably be another muguruza, she’ll win a slam one year and then go on a string of losses. Just my opinion.

Though only 2 sets but took 2hr 13min, the longest match Andreescu face in this US open run. Bencic is a very smart player equipped with lots of weapons only runs a little short in strength; she is definitely one great rival for Andreescu in the WTA new era.

Bencic has lost weight and is playing like she used to. Great! I wish she was a bit more versatile. But this match shows that she belongs. Bianca is hitting so well.

Bencic was more than a few lbs heavier in 2017 & I guess the first half of 2018. She's looking very fit now., but this match highlights the gulf in natural athleticism between her and Andreescu. Belinda needs to be aggressive to win in this match-up.

Last year Naomi and this year Bianca... They had nothing to lose especially against Serena in NY since the crowd is not on them. I guess if the opponent in the final had been Sharapova, Halep, or other former slam champs in US open, Serena had had less pressure I guess. It's just my opinion, but yeah. I really want to congratulate Bianca, and hope she continues the chase to No.1!!!
I mean Halep played Serena at Wimbledon this year and won. In my opinion the crowd was for Serena there too. I just think it's a mental thing for Serena more than a physical thing.

I would say her mental thing or issue is mental fatigue and in the background she has to deal with sponsorship appearances, interviews with the press, hanging with celebrities, etc...

Bencic will rue the chances she had by literally giving the game away. She was not outplayed in anyway but allowed Andreescu to dominate the key moments when she should've taken the lead!
It was an extremely tight match which could have gone either way but it's clear to me that Andreescu took it - she won it rather than Bencic giving it away. She took it from Williams also in the final.

You said Bencic skills are very good and I agree about that. Her skills are better than Andreescu ? It's possible, but skills are just a part of a champion. Kyrgios have got very good skills but poor results. Maybe his skills are better than Nadal's, but the champion is Nadal. Tennis is a game, but it's also a sport. You have to get mental strength, desire to win ! BA gains 2 big titles (Miami and US Open) in one year. Bencic is waiting for just a final in 5 years. Injuries is also part of a champion. You have to prepare your body to hard fights. Maybe Bencic is the best tennis player in WTA tour. She is just the best with no title and no final in big tournaments. It's impossible to compare two players with victories against top 10 or 5. To beat Williams in a Premier5, is not the same than to beat Williams in final slam.
