Adam took an bomb to the face, his build was barely a choice, he was so messed up they gave him a choice, death or battle tank and the rest is history.
Another detail though is that it's intentionally unclear whether Cyberpsychosis truly exists or if it's just the mentally vulnerable cracking due to lack of any social safety nets, and corpos just use it as an excuse to not help the mentally ill.
@@mrskellybones4514 One of the early symptoms is identifying more with machines than people. Saying, "I feel more comfortable in chrome than my own skin" would fall under that category. Granted it's a statement said in passing, but, you have to keep in mind that the Ripper Doc says David needs to slow down on the implants otherwise he'll end up needing meds and that by this point somebody else would have likely already gone psycho Based on those statements tells us that, David had been getting a lot if implants, and that the amount he has by this point is, more than likely above what a normal person would be able to have/tolerate. In fact he looks, basically just like Maine did by this time. At this particular point, to me at least, it seems that David is still in the initial stages, where it could easily be reverseable, I can't remember if he was developing the twitch by this point but, still
The adding of more chrome was a symptom and metaphor for David's addiction to it and how deep trauma can really push people over the edge, both physically and mentally.
Right? Like a body builder having to back off of their anabolic steroids for a little to keep from messing up their body. The whole "I gotta keep all of this metal despite having gotten this far with only the sandestine" thing was a little annoying.
@@SinisterSkyler yes and no. As the bodybuilding analogy. Most will go through 'blast' and 'cruise' phases. Cruise will probably be just a high(er) test dose to maintain what they've built, then the blast would be them stacking multiple compounds for a 6-16 week period to gajn
@@Bbbbar123 that ain't gonna fly with David's case. In the first fight we see post time skip, he only won the battle because of his new leg implant. Those moments are gonna keep happening which means that to David, he can't stop now or else he'll fail.
Except that's not true. Micheal Pondsmith said that psychosis is brought about by PTSD and stress. It's in large part a mental health issue. Downgraded would lessen the symptoms but the two would need immense therapy and support, as well as to lessen the use of their cybernetics, to deal with the problems, at which point they're easy targets to opposing gangs and bounty hunters that are eager to take their place. Even if David downgraded he was fucked anyway due to Kiwi and Faraday's incoming betrayal.
Some of the last lines he ever spoke were something like "Fine, you can have the damn immunoblockers, but this is the last time we'll meet. Youll be just another warning story for the next guy."
Whats upsetting is that the ripperdoc warned him, the entire show, down to the end. And his last phrase? Something about being another story for the next one. Thats messed up... seen em all come n go. Probs messed up the doc mentally just seeing so many ignore his warnings at this point
@@Chrishansen999 he did stop, actually. in the game if you go to the same location this ripperdoc is in the show, V mentions how young he is for a doc. insinuates the spot only just opened up recently, sometime in the last thirty years.
@@armin4298 some, genetics. There are those that can only make up four packs. Genetically speaking we all have eight packs but it depends again on genetics on how pronounced your sixth and eighth set are for them to show when you put time getting shredded.
@@Mediados exactly and it sucked so much to see Davey almost kill him. Like that is what I have a issuebwith story line wise. I get they had to end it but he literally watched Maine do this to himself that alone should've stopped him as well as everyone else telling you chill. When ya doc tells u even as a joke you gotta listen.
@@anthonyrivera4547 I feel like that’s the point though. The writers frame the whole cyberpsychosis thing similar to roid rage, as they had said. So the chrome to David is an addiction like gaining muscle from steroid usage: it makes him feel strong. And he wants to feel strong so he can fill Maine’s place. He knows the risks, but he keeps deluding himself into thinking that he’s special, into thinking that he needs to fulfill both Maine’s and his mother’s dreams. The implants feed this delusion.
@@anthonyrivera4547 The thing is that he genuinely believed that it wouldn't happen to him because he is special. He wanted to fulfill both Lucy's and Maine's dreams and fill in Maine's shoes. Everybody tried to make him stop but they couldn't, at this point they'd just refuse to scale down and stop running.
@@RenegadeY same for me, but night city is based near the Bay Area in Northern California where I live. So I gave the dub a shot. I think it’s on par with the classic dubs, like full metal, code geass, and cowboy bebop. The English cast did an amazing job.
Yup, I think it goes great with the character since he's kinda like a cyberware-installing witch doctor. You go to him to get an edge on solving your problems, but everything comes with a cost (and not just Eddies).
I love how they mix in lingo and slang. I can understand generally what it means but it’s still something said so naturally, it’s a really really really good worldbuilding detail
I wonder that's why they wanted Davis, they wanted someone to replace Smasher if anything was to happen to him. So quite literally he was Adam Smasher 2.0
A year late, but no. In the show they explained they did not wanted David specifically. David simply was the only person besides Adam that they could get their hands on, that would be able to wield the skeleton. They said it was originally Adam who was supposed to wear it, but I guess he didn’t want to or something, so they found David. They simply wanted data on the cyberskeleton to see if they would be able to mass produce it
The moment you start believing yourself to be special, you're gaslighting yourself to fulfill other people expectations. It will break you in the long run, and eventually you'll hate yourself when you fall and realize that you're nothing........it just that you had your moment, that's it. And then it ends.
I can understand getting lost limbs replaced with robotic arms that would be fully functional but voluntarily swapping out good body tissue for cyberware? Insanity. It's like losing a bit of yourself each time.
Weirdly I have designs in biomedical engineering for mechanical prosthetics. It was my dream to make em cause I was afraid of losing pieces of myself. Function to live normally and the idea of being incomplete. I thought it would make it less insufferable. Somewhere along the way I lost the ability to decide what’s better. If it’s even a worthy pursuit. Or if it’s just another form of technology that would become weaponized and detrimental to society rather than the good it’s meant to.
Meh, having lost an eye about a decade ago now, it's not nearly as dramatic as it sounds. I don't feel any less, because I am not just the sum of my body parts.
@@chaosgaming8318 unfortunately bringing them back from the end will spoil the message there are no happy endings in night city thus I propose a prequel to the ending episodes for s2 thus the message won't be spoilt and we get to see more of em
True, we literally only get one real scene where he shows off his new maturity, skill and power. The second one is already his last mission alive. I would like to see them cover what happened in the time jump, be it through a second season or comics/manga of some kind.
Unfortunately, if they even plan a second season, it most likely won’t have Studio Trigger’s involvement whatsoever due to their affinity for making one off anime
@@dillansizemore7095 it is one of my fav lines in the whole game just cuz it shows how much you DONT want to fuck with Adam smasher. Sucks he was such a pushover
@@Bigalinbklyn83 did you not read my comment correctly? Because the hell does silverhand being a narrator and a ttrpg have to do with me wishing the guy talked about silverhand being killed
@@Bigalinbklyn83In the tabletop Adam did kill Johnny, it just didn’t happen the way we see in game. Johnny rushed in when he saw Adam and got sawed in half with explosive rounds for his trouble. Shaitan and Morgan Blackhand were the ones who actually put up a fight against Adam.
He was becoming borderline nonganic, had changed most of his body with cyberware. So yeah this was never gonna end well. Only reason smasher isn't effected that much being literally only a brain is because he was psychotic before aha.
@@Gobbostoppernaah, I think he is affected a lot, he just figured out how to live with it, also he's under a constant care of arasaka specialists, has all the best cyberware and care, so that helps for shure. I'd call him a highly functional cyberpsycho, all just more machine than man
He was legit slipping and didn’t realize how consistent it was the fact Lizzie Wizzie express joy for becoming a cyberpyscho makes me think David is starting to truly think the better way to live is with chrome through every part of your body . He was special because he powerful with only the sandy and his organic parts … David essentially lost a piece of himself with each he replace until there was just a robot left
Yes and no. He taught him how to survive and have fun but he failed to teach him how to live properly. Maine was fighting his own battles too, let's not forget.
I just wish I could see normal people talk about V like that, marveling at his success like how he beat Adam smasher and brought arasaka to heel, about how he was the best merc in night city while being doomed all together, and how he just disappeared leaving it all behind.
To be fair David definitely had an extremely high resistance to cybernetics, but V and Smasher are also better in that field… David straight lost his mind. Smasher was broken before he got his augmentations, so he was able to go full cyborg without the drawback of cybersychosis. V can go near full cyborg, and all he gets is the starting cybersychosis symptoms. All he gets is auditory and visual hallucinations, and his actions become more erratic and chaotic in heavy combat.
All these short on cyber punk, makes me wana re watch for the 20th time. Ty RU-vid shorts for making me re watch for my office 21st😂😂😂. Joke’s aside so happy to see it on the short trend atm. Great show and highly recommend!
Well it makes sense when you realize David was a civilian being fed a diet or Corpo bullshit. I bet Arasaka doesn't even have to advertise the chained Cerberus they have in the tower.
Bruh, sure,it's like being born in Hell, learning the teachings of Hades and not learning about the Guardian of Hell's Gate,Cerberus. Smasher is a private property of Arasaka, the protector of the top dogs and the exterminator of HVTs from opposing corpos. The fucker has his own body extension in the form of the DaiOni exo-suit that further on enhances his overall power output with auto shotguns, rocket pods, auto railcannons and a jet tank amount of drugs, hardwiring into his brain.
Fun fact it’s been mentioned that Adams Smasher is actually the most controlled cyber psycho, similar to some MaxTac operators. Which would explain his lack of empathy and his cruelty, even though he was known for it prior to his Borging it’s noted it only made him more brutal after
Adam Smasher was also a sociopath before he really got chromed, the whole losing your humanity thing probably doesn't matter much if you don't have a lot of it to start.
David's a lot closer maelstrom than animals by this point. His implants just looked more aesthetic. V's edge against david was he knew his implants and didnt "borg out" like david, maelstrom dudes and adam smasher
i think the only upgrades i would want is my left leg to fix my knee, my lower back(if possible JUST the lower) for my messed up back and my eyes and that would be about it, i could never go as far as an actual cyber punker
Me who has a character with no cybernetics or physical alterations and just a revolver with maxed pistol stats and cold blood and is naked to piss everyone I'm killing off "yeah no amount metal you put on your body will help you survive a clip from my gun" this game is so fun since you can choose to have no cyberware or ugly metal stuff and simply have a weapon and good skills and be able to kill cyborgs who gave up their bodies just to be killed by a guy with no mods just pure flesh and bones
Gonna do a Blade build my next playthrough. Right now I am borged, but once I got to the katana from a crazy side quest as a reward. I started speccing as a swordsman and gawd damn it's fun to go ham on people before they can shoot me.
What really confuses me about cyberpunk is if the technology is so advanced and you go crazy from too much metal implants than why not just wear it as armor instead of mutilating yourself? Like I understand the runners who need to get full dive tech straight to their brains but like cmon some common sense…
@@JoseRodriguez-eu5ez no if that where the case his mental decline would have started earlier he only started showing signs of cyberpychosis once he said the words "im special"
It has over 100 vibration settings, 10x the sensitivity of the real thing, has a spin function, and 6 additional modes; including corkscrew, sine-wave, and groovy curve.
Correct me if im wrong. But i am pretty sure that before this scene in the timeline at least. David suffered from hallucinations and accidentally murdered someones mother.
Was accidental, he purposely did so because she was a witness to an assassination. In this scene, he's also letting slip that he's going off the deep side by saying he feels better in chrome than flesh.
@@insertname3977 I also took that as David accidentally killed her because well he was spazing and looked like he was going to let her go and then we'll. Bang
In the end I sympathized with David and his cost but I didn’t feel bad when he went insane and died because everyone warned him and tried to edge him to stop he didn’t listen he had this whole epiphany that he was someone or something “special” that he believed he knew what’s better for himself even when he was on his knees gasping for air and was at risk of dying right then and there he still refused to listen which makes him seem uncaring and inconsiderate for the people who care about his health and feelings
I assumed the only part of Davids real flesh that was left was his face but I jus realised when Adam Smasher is about to end David u can see he has a metal frame In his eye did he really cover himself in chrome by the end but it was jus colored like skin?
