Ricky Bell was so underrated as a singer. He had an impressive range as well as good power and control. He could give a song that little bit of extra “attitude” that made it great.
New Edition is one of the most talented groups ever. Ralph, Bobby, and Johnny, all had platinum solo projects and BBD just flip the script with the New Jack Swing Groove. Classic's Crate.
I remember folks doubting if these three could be successful and that album shut em all up. Plus, I’ve always loved when other NE members show up to support in the others’ videos.
Kind of funny story that is kind of related to this song. I was in Walmart around Christmas time 2023 & it was packed & all the self-checkouts were Looong. A register opened with an old guy & folks were almost running to that empty line. I was 2nd in line. When it was my turn, he said he was wondering why people were running to his register and he thought it was because he was such a good employee. I thought of this song & chuckled a little. He kept talking while scanning my stuff. He said, "Honestly, I thought it was me who made everybody run up here". I started laughing quietly because THIS SONG kept going through my mind from what he was saying. Some folks behind me chuckled at me laughing. The old man kept talking & said, "I found out that it was because the lines were long, but I really thought it was me that they thought was so good". I busted out laughing loud & couldn't stop laughing; I was almost crying. The people in line started laughing at me & the old guy was laughing at me too. When I was walking away with my basket, everybody in line was still laughing & smiling & the old guy was still chuckling at me & I was still laughing, cause he thought it was him!
As big as they were, I always felt they could've been so much bigger. They helped to strengthen the bridge between R&B and Hip Hop. They set the table for many groups in the 90s, like TLC and quite a few others. Awesome video for an awesome song. Thanks for posting!
Watched them perform this in November of 2022 and they still got it! Ricky still sounds the same and Mike and Ron were doing the dance moves from the music video killing it just like on here! They really are the best and still look amazing doing what they do! Love them ❤
Back when music was fun, and rappers weren't killing each other. Before Tyler Perry jacked BET with wimpy soap operas and Donny Simpson was the host of Video Soul. THEY GOT THE GAME F*CKED UP
I remember when they dropped poison I was suspect about them at first but when I heard this joint it became my high school anthem when I had my 18th birthday party this was my intro when I came into the party!!! Man the good ole days
I had this cassette tape when I was about 8 years old. That was in '91. Haven't heard this track since those days, and it still sounds fresh! Love that funky bass/guitar. I've been obsessed with music like this lately: BBD, New Edition, Babyface, Levert, etc. This was my first favorite music that I can remember. I got way into grunge and metal a year or so later, but I still love me some Bell Biv Devoe.
it was good back then and still good today but huge thanks to that rebel guy in school with names like Nirvana,Metallica and Testament drawn on his pencil pouch.
What is a crazy thing out BBD, this was going to be the group we were going to get anyways if Ralph had left. They thought they needed Ralph and Bobby to make hits, but they made bangers regardless
