This gear I bought from van ec film services is nothing like the all aluminum gear. There’s alot of play side to side I had to fix and there is also play between the gear teeth but I got it working good thank goodness. I like the all aluminum gear much better tho.
I have managed to disassemble my projector and am about to order a new worm gear from Van Eck. Thank you for posting this video, it will be very useful when the part arrives
It doesnt hurt to ask crazy questions when were talking about lots of work, time and know how correct ? Would it hurt to smear some epoxy into these cracks ( not the big ones ) and then wipe ( brush ) off the excess to give these worm gears more running time ?
Thank you for your posting Mike. Whilst this part is a very welcome addition to the Van Eck parts listing, and is capable of getting a projector up and running again, it does look like the surface finish is quite rough when compared with the original. I guess that's an artefact of the 3D printing process. Do you anticipate any excessive wear with extended use Mike? Will lubrication of some sort help perhaps? Not that I'd know what to use - something like Molykote(tm) white grease perhaps?
I found that there’s a lever on the clutch that disengages the shuttle. If the clutch is not in a certain position then the shuttle disengagement is interrupted.
Interesting. I have a 1575A (slot loader) with a cracked worm gear. No 'still' funtion. Runs, but getting louder. Not sure if I want to take on the complex replacement.
I bought one of these gears and the still function works as it should with no film but when there’s film it does not function properly also there is play from side to side with the new gear. Something’s not right.
Hey mike! Is there a special position that that clutch has to be in conjunction with the loop restorer? I’m watching your videos and there one position but I see here it’s different. Please any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thank you
