Bell Tower Removal  

Thank you, Lower Colorado River Authority, for helping us remove our bell this week! The Lower Colorado River Authority loaned a crew with large bucket trucks to remove the rotted wood and bring the bell down. We are currently developing a plan to paint the bell tower and re-install the bell. If you have any thoughts or ideas, please email them to the church office. Drone filming: @hitownmedia
Cast by the Henry Shane Company of Baltimore Maryland in 1883, the church bell originally hung in the building built in 1882 located at the corner of Highway 281 and 29, where Walgreens is today. The church grew and added wings to handle the expanding congregation in the 1890’s, then built a new larger building at Main St and Johnson in 1939.
The church continued to grow and built our current building in 1977. The bell moved to its new home in the 60 ft high bell tower where it hung until recently. The cedar accents bolted to the steel frame, and the wooden beams supporting the bell have rotted, leaving the bell teetering on 3 legs instead of 4.
