I brought one two weeks back After putting 8 cards and 3 papers of cash the magnetic almost not working The ideal application 5 cards 2 papers of cash 6.5/10

Thanks Radwan, I'm carrying the wallet now and your carry configuration is about where I'm at and it's spot on. Anything more and it won't close, so it "might" have the capacity, but the feature of the magnets becomes useless.

Bellroy has great customer service they swapped my gray zip wallet when it had dye from my jeans rub off no questions asked. Kind of like a cheap step can versus a simple human can its just so much better designed with a 10 year warranty. I also have A peak design 3l sling that is a great small everyday carry bag for electronics and cameras. In the end u get what u pay for most of the time In terms of customer support and warranty. Enjoy ur videos.

I am usually carrying 6-7 cards with me. At first, I was also a bit disappointed seeing that the magnets are not strong enough to fully close the wallet when it’s pretty stuffed inside. However after approx. 2 weeks the leather relaxes a bit around the cards and the wallet almost closes completely. It’s not perfect, but way better than in the first few days. I’d hoped that I’d love the apex slim sleeve, but I just like it, cannot love it for the price. Expected more!

I'm the same way. I'm into my 3rd week of carrying it and the closure is adjusting a bit. The moulding is hanging in there, not collapsing like I thought, but I carry in my front pocket. But yes, overpriced for the concept.

I was quite literally about to buy one of these - thought it looked really nice, really minimalist - but just couldn't choose between the colours. Now I'm glad I found this video because I've realised it's better for me to spend my money on another, more study product. I was mainly worried about it not closing nicely with the magnets and I did notice you pinching it together to even it out, or so it seemed. Great video and so thankful I found it before actually buying the product.

Great review as always! Ever since your last review of a wallet with magnets, I cringe a little inside. No matter how "safe" some companies will tout them, I simply pass on them the moment a magnet is mentioned.

Bought this because I thought it was interesting. It does not seal for me even w/ 6 cards in it, and the left card slot had nearly identical wrinkles to the one you show. Currently in the process of returning it.

That's too bad about the wrinkles, you'd think it was something uncommon. And yes, mine never fully closed with less than the complete number of cards they say it can carry, even after carrying it for a month (that review is coming up).

Hey Mark, love your reviews! I was wondering if you could do a review of the Farrah wallet? It's very similar to the Mitchell, but also very different. Since I live in the EU, it would be helpful to see the cash insertion test with Euro as well, which you did here. So thumbs up!!!

From Australia? We have that one! A while back we began including cash insertions test for US, Yen and Euro, so it's a standard now.

I got one, was immediately disappointed and wanted to send it back. Felt overly cheap and thin af. I know they brag about how thin is better, but it just felt shitty as the seal was unimpressive. I prefer the note sleeve.

Yes, the "multiple" layers of leather equate to very thin, sliver thin to make it work. Time will tell if this new direction will work for them.

I’m struggling to see how you gave quality a 4/5, especially at this price point, when you show issues with the leather. I’m curious as to how you came to that score as I’m sure I’ve seen other wallets getting similar or lower scores which appear to be better made

Quality is independent from score, and in this case the leather is the same type as other Bellroy products. I’ve had my concerns with the leather of all Bellroy wallet, but it’s proven to be pretty good, not great. In the case of the defect, if it was a systemic problem with all the wallets in this model then it would get a lower score. Unfortunately the one I received was not the best but doesn’t reflect on every one they produce.

walletopia received mine today (onyx), no sooner received than returned. 4 standard cards and 2 twenty euro notes and the wallet won’t close with the magnetic seal. Even If it did, this is not a £123 wallet (Amazon UK). I do suspect I got a used item, the Belroy paper insert was not within the wallet and the leather card pouch was stretched to such an extent the card would fall out if turned upside down. Some scuffs and scratches on the exterior leather also. Either way, the minimal amount of cards and notes and it would still not close was a dealbreaker. You’ve pointed out these flaws rightly but surely they are so crucial to wallet performance and usage that it would mean a very low rating overall?

Thanks Daniel. Yes, still a big demand in my opinion. SECRID pioneered it and there are at least a dozen companies selling them now. There is an appealing component to these wallets which has pulled in a good following.

I guess that the “heat seal” claimed by Bellroy is no more than just a glue...then magnets could affect cards too!

Oh yes, there HAS to be glue involved so without sewing, but time will tell on the thermo forming persistency.

Thanks for asking Byron. I've been a little inconsistent in the past with the currency check as I've been fine-tuning. If a wallet could take the currency (in any way), they would always get a green check mark, but I didn't account for when the currency was a single versus double fold. That's somewhat of an important thing to me (and many who have commented over time) as it removes a step and many don't like folding it twice. Soooo, the yellow check mark means it does fit, but you have to fold it twice or in thirds to fit. I'll bring this up in a future video(s) for education.

I would say most people do. It'll be interesting to see how long Bellroy keeps this model around. If the new manufacturing methods hold up, they might keep it....if it sells consistently.

With this wallet, I’m told no. I’ve not heard any reports if it has, and I believe the magnets are low power enough and placed as such to not do it.

I would expect this wallet to have a perfect closure from day 1 (given the price), which clearly has not 6:18 and also the quality of the leather is quite low for the price tag.

IDK. I'm not feeling this one. I given away two Bellroy wallets as gifts and own one of my own. Two slim sleeve wallets (one grey and one java brown) and a black leather (zipper style) card pocket. This new Apex slim sleeve is going to be a hard pass for me. Thanks for the review! Take care!

They all rely on either a money clip or some attached material piece (leather, plastic, pleather, etc.) for cash folding. It comes down to how you like to carry our cash.

Too weak to do that, but cash fits in the back slot just fine. You can place items within the clam shell, but it's not super strong, just enough to keep the wallet closed.

Not very, just enough. But when I did a carry test it couldn't close completely as I added cards, and I didn't stuff it. But it was still close enough to keep it closed, but the strength was even more diminished.

Hello! You have to review the Jaimie Jacobs Magstar( I did the first video on RU-vid, check it out) it is the same os apex slim Sleeve but have the heat bonde and stiches to get stronger and fit 100€ notes folded in half! Is the same design same magents Same é very thing but have this two vantagens! Fit 100€ and have a nice stiching in case os the heat bonde undo! Give it a change and you Will not refreat! Thanks PS- it closes nicely design in Germany and made by hand in European Union! They give 10 years warranty

For the price tag I have to say I am not very impressed with this. I was'nt all that impressed with it's predecessor either. There's been alot of hype over it, but for $129 you can get much better wallets.

Yes, that's something that comes up every so often, but should be considered immediately. Is the price you're paying for a wallet the price you could pay for a handmade, custom if you'd like, wallet from high quality leather? If so, then that should be a serious consideration.

@@walletopia Absolutely... For the average person $129 is on the steep side. I don't think the price tag is justified for this wallet. I'd rather have 2 decent wallets for that cost, or like you say, a custom made wallet. Surprised to see yet more "Puckering" on the Bellroy product. Either you have bad luck or it's a very common issue with their wallets. 🤔

What's your reasoning for giving this wallet 2 rating for price? In my opinion it should be a definitive 1 rating. It seems like the leather was falling apart just from you doing the review.. It's overpriced by about $80. This wallet should be no more than $49.

Hey Justin, yes it was close to be a 1. In evaluating our review on the Bellroy Designer Slim Sleeve it's priced at $139 and was a 2 on price. The normal Slim Sleeve was rated a 3 at $79. Given the newness and apparent investment in the Apex platform (Bellroy intends to continue investment) we felt it was best at a 2 right now.

Bough there solid card holder. I've noticed a trend in there wallets. Basically they are thin, easily scratched, easy to damage, never hold the actual cards advertised, over priced, garbage.

I doubt the durability of that seal , its for sure not as durable as thread stitching, also the look of this wallet is not the best, it looks ugly for me, and the price is very high for what you get.

Hi, I've been buying Bellroy from day 1 and am familiar with their range of wallets. I have Mont Blanc as well as numerous other quality wallets and I am very sure that the flimsy feel of this product. The small amounts of leather used, combined with the overall feel do not in any way justify this price.
