Very haunting.

This is my husbands account, but I just have to say this... I began listening to Tori at the age of 10... my mother bought me the tape..(whatta badass mother) And even at 10I was totally entranced... so much so that years later my mother and i tore apart her piano, modified it with 2 different things... we put those floor protectors, like the kind u get to prevent scratching on ur floor,... and mounted them to the hammers of my piano to mimic the sound used in this song... worked excellent....

This song has a very personal and tragic meaning to me also(can't stop what's coming)... As we all will meet in the by and by, such a truly haunting tune to me today. You have a remarkable eye for your taste in perception meeting music. Beautifully done...

My sister introduced me to this album when I was just a child. I must have been in 4th or 5tj grade. She was very troubled. She jumped off a bridge to her death in March, and I'm pretty much ruined. This is the closest I think you can get to a visual representation of my sorrow.

Tori Amos is poetry. I’m glad her music is part of the Yellowjacket’s soundtrack. This generation gets to appreciate her magic.

Friendships do change when boyfriends/girlfriends/husbands/ or wives enter the picture. The title Bell for Her means having bells that will stop the silence. She will be heard. Just my take.

@lucybells0 Bells For Her is about Beenie, who was in an abusive relationship with a man at the time of Tori's writing UTP. Tori tried to get Beenie to see that, but that backfired and so they had a falling out. When you think about abusive relationships, you often see women sticking up for the abusive men. We can't recognise them. Hence "you have her face and her eyes, but you are not her."

only now do I understand these lyrics...after 20 years...her and her best friend grew up together but her friend left her for an abusive man that one or the other of them killed and they are now in prison saying their last goodbyes before the execution...can't stop what's coming...

Your video is hauntingly intuitive to the song ~ bells means so much to me. There was a time when I couldn't understand, couldn't appreciate the sentiment behind it ..... but there was this girl, she hurt me very deeply. All I could do was listen to bells. And I was left with this one thought ~ maybe someone knows ~~ what's worse the death of a friendship or the death of a friend I always thought it was the latter until I till I lost the first..................................

I think Tori would love that visual - you did a great job of capturing the feeling of the song. ❤ How I think about this song has changed over the years. 'Now she seems to be sand under his shoes. There's nothing I can do.' It's a terrible thing to watch a girl you love sacrifice herself, her happiness, her sanity and almost her life to an unworthy man, and know there's nothing you can do but hope she gets out in time, and be there to help pick up the pieces if she does. I've experienced that from the perspective of the friend watching it unfold, and thank god, she did get out in the end. But I think about all those women who never do. The ghostly atmosphere of this song makes me wonder if their own spirits feel the same way - watching powerless as they become sand under some man's shoes. Imagine.

I may be wrong, but I think this song might be about a young lady who was killed while riding her bicycle.

During the month my wife was cheating on me and I knew it but she was still denying it, the lyrics “and now I speak to you are you in there/you have her face and her eyes but you are not her” resounded in my soul. In retrospect, those words were apropos long before just that month. I lost her long before I lost her, if you get my drift. So it goes.

I think what this song is trying to convey is how a child's innocence is lost from incest. Unfortunately millions of children in this country have suffered from the hands who supposebly love them. We need to bring awareness to this problem and protect our children in this country.

i believe this song is about her friend that was molested by a man in her family. I know one of her songs is about that. I'm not sure which one. I read it in one of her many books. She has another song about her miscarriage . Very sad songs most of them are.

@doctortabby its described as a "treated piano" on the sleeve notes :-) it sounds like theres some sort of stuff jammed in the strings or like the dampming has been altered and its been knocked out of tune.Or it might just be a knackered old paino they had lying about,there sone at my rehearsal studio thats pretty whacky too
