Awesome! You are correct. The one you have is not made in America. However, we will have our own American made option available within a couple months and we will keep the price very close to that of the import. We are in the process of making the rubber and aluminum casting tools right now. Thanks for mentioning us in the video!

I will be buying several of your wheels when they become available. Will they come with Timken bearings or other USA made bearings? Thank you in advance!!
@AmeriBradeOfficial
@AmeriBradeOfficial 6 лет назад
Jeff Conti Hi Jeff, we are talking with our bearing supplier. He says none of the American companies actually make their small ball bearings in America anymore, but he would still get us a price on Timken and Nachi bearings. How do you feel about Japanese bearings?
@jcknives4162
@jcknives4162 6 лет назад
At this point anything except Chinese. Lol. Seriously. The Japanese probably do very well. I would wounded of the Germans make bearings? The quest is for high quality. I make custom and handmade knives. My customers spend quite a bit of money. I do too... on my tools.
@SnorrioK
@SnorrioK 6 лет назад
There also exist high quality bearings from Sweden, company's name is SKF - almost entirely the only brand used in all of Iceland and we make a lot of our own machinery here (or well, used to, until imports became more readily available).

Before buying this sander I would use a rotary sander ru-vid.comUgkx3Pc2vLXfcgM5oIpF1iYcIWyFhHUC-G6v and didn't see the need for a belt sander. Boy was I wrong. this belt sander does the job quickly and gives a professional finish to the wood work.

I love how meticulous you are and how you explain your decisions appropriately. Some makers can be kind of jerks. You’re pleasant and pretty funny in a dry way.

Alex Gordon Agreed. I particularly enjoyed the hacksaw bit in this one. It's a good reminder that if you don't have a vertical bandsaw you can use a hacksaw, but if you do have one it makes sense to use the hacksaw FAR less often.

So Jeremy can weld, drill, grind, cut and finally fabricate. No not finally. He can conceive the mechanism before fabrication. As well he can eloquently describe what he is doing as he is fabricating. He has confidence enough to admit to minor mistakes as he goes. A doer and a teacher. I am jealous. I can barely weld. I look forward to more wizardry in his videos.

it is not often you come across a you tube video of a product build that is so detailed anyone could build it just off the video, no plans needed, as a welder and mfg for over 50 years making everything i ever built from a plan in my head, you did a hel of a great job, showing just about every detail, everyone else is so into making sure there video is not over 12 min.. now i ask what can one learn in 12 min,,, other then how to build a bomb...

I've watched your series on these grinders so many times over the last year. You are a very clever designer and I love your way of putting your content across. Your very clear and easy to understand. After watching many videos on making one of these grinders yours is by far the best and the cost of your plans are very reasonable. I will be purchasing them very soon now. Thanks again...

This is my first visit to your video. Retired Electronics Technician for 30 years. Woodworking has been a life passion. Now I find myself making things to make things. Getting more and more metal working tools than I thought I would ever use. I think that you are a good teacher of your Craft. I was teaching algebra and trigonometry at 17, in the Navy. Knowledge is power, keep it up. And sell these on EBAY.

It’s always nice to have a free shop full of professional tools and plenty of perfect scrap metal at your disposal as well as an ample amount of time growing up around tradesmen with a vast knowledge of metal working for you to learn from to “build-your-own” “homemade” sander isn’t it? I guess if I had had all the above I too could build my very own “homemade” belt sander too.

Answers to your frequently asked questions: 1) Several have suggested using various different kinds of wheels as contact wheels, like forklift tires, donut tires, or wrapping rubber around a wood disk... Keep in mind first that a wheel like the one I used is made for the job, and is only $120. The wheel needs to be very precise; round, and flat across the face. It has to be the correct hardness too. Pretty difficult to find something that costs less that $120 and meets that criteria. 2) Could you use a longer belt to accommodate a 12" wheel? Yes. However this means you'll need to have two full sets of belts in the shop since the longer belts can't be used with the platen or small wheel attachment. Longer belts are also non-standard, so you'll have to special order them. Selection will be limited, and prices will be higher. But if you need to run a 12" wheel, you can certainly work through the downsides... Thanks everyone for your feedback!
