@dogchaser520

Well, they're legends; anyone who devours comedy voraciously are fans. But yeah, the weird Pythonesque absurdism disappeared after a bit. To be fair, Python sometimes went to far and couldn't stay funny, because they had to find increasingly more absurd ways to express humor until at a point it stopped surprising you and instead just confusing you. See Season 3 of Flying Circus especially. But goddamn, when they were on it, they were just about the best.

Shred La Vallie Yes, and Mrs. Belushi worked at the drug store next to the Seven Dwarfs Restaurant on Roosevelt Road. What was the name of that? She was a sweet lady and not mich got past her. In high school Jim said, "I want to move to California and buy a house in Brentwood. I want to buy a house for my mom in California." And he did, and she lived out there. I remember the old, 100% wood bleachers on the football field at the school, and the huge stairway inside the front entrance. I remember the huge wooden windows in the original building, and the small Student Commons area in the addition. We all had big plans. 🙂

That's what happens to things when they become too big and too mainstream. SNL had its run of dominance from its inception until the early 2000's and the show began to fall apart. The acting and writing was still great at that time, but it started to lose its edge. Like that one old dude who would randomly show up to a college party hitting on college freshman chicks. It just kind of gets weird at a certain point. The Jokes became too simple and they cared too much about making sure everyone can understand the jokes, and the subject matter they made fun of went from being somewhat complex and metaphysical at times, to poo poo and pee pee jokes.

What a great talent and a great show! If you didn’t live during the 70’s you don’t understand what a revolutionary thing Saturday Night Live was then. It was a new, realer kind of comedy. When SNL first hit the air waves, I remember as a third grader I’d spend the night at my best friend’s house. We would stay up late watching the show. I’d usually fall asleep before making it to the end, but not because the show was boring. Just because I was a kid. I tried watching the show at my parent’s house, but my father didn’t much care for it. He used to call it, “that common show” with “the dirty humor.” It used to bug the Hell out of me, because he’d sit there smoking a cigarette and look at me saying, “Why aren’t you laughing? I thought you liked this common show.” Kinda ruined the mood, but it didn’t stop me from watching. I still watch the show today.
