(Vast oversimplification about going to Heaven, since there is no way to go to Heaven without God's grace, since any sin separates you from God) Plus, owning slaves does not mean you go to Hell. There are things in the Bible about owning slaves, but that you should treat them well, and respect them. Although slavery in Biblical times was very different from slavery in the 1800's, since most of the time the slaves were working to pay off a debt, rather than born into the system with no hope of getting out.

The act of owning slaves, regardless of any excuses made by some old religious drivel, is irredeemable. Therefore, Franklin and all the Founding Fathers who owned slaves for that matter, are bastards.

@@meleeludens I do not, the owning of slaves has benefited countless generations of children that may never have been born in Africa and improved their lives by large margins. Benjamin Franklin is certainly in heaven.
