This was the song I played at my daughters Funeral. Ever time I hear it I break down and start crying, it's been 10 years since she has passed. I don't think I could have picked a better song for her.

It's sometimes hard to pick a favorite song by a great artist. When it comes to Ben this is hands down his best song ever lyrically, instrumentally and soulfully. Ben got me through a lost time in my life back in the 90s. Even now reflecting on his music, the power and the almost divine quality of his work shines on.

Shortly before my dad passed, I asked him who he thought would be there to greet him, he said "man, I hope everybody I have known, and God too of course"...I'll never forget that night, he was helping me wash my newborn baby's bottles; As God brought an angel into my life a month and a half later He took one as well, and a year and 10 months later took another angel, my mother, my 2nd born child was just 4 months old. I cling to His promise that I will see them both again one day. I love you Mommy and Daddy ❤
My sister asked me to sing this at her wedding in remembrance of our loved ones who couldn't be here. So I looked it up and, it's so beautiful it made me cry.
In 2005, I lost my three year old brother to Ewing's Sarcoma cancer. In November of 2011, I lost my dad to pancreatic cancer. In July of 2012, I lost my momma to a massive heart attack. My angels are the most amazing angels that I could ever imagine. I will be able to fly with ease when it's my time to go home with my three angels to carry me♥ Christopher Raymer, Jefferey Raymer, and Pamela Raymer are the angels arms that I will be flying in to carry me home.
In a shampoo bottle life of rinse and repeat, this song speaks to me and wrenches my soul. What a beautiful, aspirational song of what we should seek. A reminder to live simply and remember what is important, but bills have to be paid and life flies by so quickly that the important things become easy to forget. So songs like this one are immensely important reminders. I speak to people all the time that don't care for music and don't listen to it and I think what a sad proposition for one's life. Beauty right in front of you and you don't see it.

I lost a loved one recently , and I'm also a cancer patient , so I think about mortality a lot. I also have been single for awile. So , I get a double meaning from this song. Sometimes I think it's about the search for that special "angel" to share one's life with . But , then it also sounds like someone who realizes he doesn't have much longer to live and is waiting on an angel to take him "home" I guess the song was intentionally written that way , so that we can accept either meaning.

I know it's great to think of it as finding that special someone, but sometimes songs have no hidden meaning. Sometimes it is what it is. I view this song as someone who is waiting to die and is scared about death. He wants his angel to guide him to heaven safely.
i have never been, and will never be religious. Without my own belief in most peoples God, I assumed the Angel I have long since needed can not be found. I was wrong, and you are right karlottini .. she turned up right behind me, unexpected, and Heaven sent. Changing a career & a country has let me find & have what I have needed so much for so long, and in turn .. I have long been the same one that she has needed. I have found WHERE I am meant to be, and now I know WHO I am meant to be.

A wonderful song,the comments below are very valid but it's not just about death, or waiting for it and I'm sure many couples hold this song very personal. There is the element of death and the hope of an angel holding your hand at this time, but angels don't always neeed to be heavenly bodies with wings, there are many walking among us and the line 'speak kind to a stranger....' gives this away. I met mine in a very unlikely place and I certainly wasn't looking.

This was mine and my boyfriend's song. He said I was his angel and at that moment I knew i loved him. Years later, he recently and randomly breaks up with me because he wants to date other people. Now I find myself, waiting on my angel to come back to me. : (

I agree, this song sounds to be more about having someone to have with him as he is taken into the arms of the creator, so as to ease the pain of death rather than speaking of death itself, as to which he said himself "i don't wanna go alone"
