Ben Platt won the 2017 Tony Award for Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role in a Musical for his performance in the Broadway musical "Dear Evan Hansen" as the title character, Evan Hansen. The musical was nominated for nine awards and won six, including Best Musical, Best Score, Best Actor in a Musical for Platt, and Best Featured Actress in a Musical for Rachel Bay Jones. At the performance, he sang "Waving Through a Window" with the rest of the original Broadway cast, including Laura Dreyfuss, Rachel Bay Jones, Will Roland, Mike Faist, Michael Park, Jennifer Laura Thompson, and Kristolyn Lloyd.
