RU-vidr Ben Potter, also known as the Comicstorian, had died. His wife announcing on X that Ben was killed in an 'unfortunate accident. His Comicstorian RU-vid page has more than 3 million subscribers. He was 40-years-old.
The man served his country, US Army I believe, and helped forge or rekindle a love of comics in millions. His presence will be missed. RIP Benny Potter.
@@mananimal3644 Benny's wife Nathalie just posted it was an "unfortunate accident". I don't want to speculate but since Rob of Comics Explained just saw him shortly before it occurred, it must have been really sudden maybe doing something innocuous. (I don't work on my own car or roof for fear of the risk.)
@@theotherguy21 I wouldn't know DC or Marvel comics nearly at all if it wasn't for Benny man I just watched Dark Multiverse on comicstorian man I'm not sure if I'm going to be able to finish it hard times man. Benny is a loss man.
I remember the first time I met him. I was tongue-tied, but he still took time to talk to me on his way to get Nat some money from the ATM. Afterwards, we had a cool conversation. As a wise man said, he was a big guy with a big voice, a big heart, and a big presence. I know his future plans would have been amazing. Miss you, Benny. As Dr. Hiriluk said, we will remember you forever. Rest well, Benny.
ik u aren't lying either becuz after so long i finally have caught back up witchu like u 🤯u be everywhere like 2 years ago i seen u under imdontai's dwayne n jazz, and dashie's too like u were consistently everywhere until i commented under ur comment and I didnt see u for a while then here u are (my bad if it sound like im d ridin, no diddy🤣) but how u been my guy
He contributed so much joy to people's lives. He was a kind and passionate force in his line of work, a titan. Cherish life, everyone. May he rest in peace.
I've never cried at a celebrity or content creators passing, as sad as some of them made me. But Benny... I'm fighting back tears typing this. Bawled when I found out thru Rob's video. They say you don't know how much someone means to you until they're gone. He gave so much to so many, I'm just one of millions who got thru dark times with Benny by our side getting us excited and lost in the comic stories he brought to life. I'm gonna miss his iconic "KRAKAKOOM", comics won't be the same without him 😢
OMG 😮. I found out from his good friend Rob on his channel Comics Explained. Benny getting so much coverage from ET, Inside Edition, and other, programs like it is really saying something. He was fun to listen to. RIP 😢.
When i was younger 20s i had hard times and sometimes listenen to comicstorian was the only time i had peace of mind. I am truly sad to hear this. He has been around a long time
I got off work a few hours ago and pulled my phone out because I wanted to look at something on RU-vid and I saw the news and it broke me. I’ve been subscribed to his channel for so long. I don’t remember. He just covered the crossover comic with DC comics and the monster verse, and he did such a great job like he always did. I just can’t believe this. in a time where everyone that starts a RU-vid channel just to sit up there and complain constantly about something they claim to love his was a positive place where you just had a smile on your face while you watched his videos. Rest In Peace Ben. Thank you for everything brother 🙏
Just found out and mann, we lost a good one. Huge unfortunate news, always looked up to this guy as a fellow comic book guy. Best wishes to the family and friends
Very heart breaking to hear this man is gone. Taken way too soon. My condolences to his family I loved his videos made me pick up Old Man Logan after listening to his video about it.
OMG. This guy was a genuine superhero. The good truly die young. This channel was so beneficial to me as far as listening to graphic novels and catch8ng up on stories and events I missed. His retelling of stories were so engaging. I'm torn up over this😪💯🙏🏾
😮 Break my heart!! I've LOVED his narrative acting of my favorites graphic novels!!! His enthusiasm was apparent and his love for comics is STELLAR!!! I will miss him terribly! My condolences to his family and friends!!!😢😢😢 RIP
It’s honestly incredible to see ET recognising and paying respect to Benny. He absolutely deserves it, he was a legend, an inspiration and one of my personal heroes. Thank you Benny for introducing me to so many worlds I’ve grown to love. Rest In Peace.
I remember watching the full spider-man stories. That was a part of my childhood. This man will always be rememberd and never be forgotten. Rest In Peace Man ✌🏿🕊️😔
Thank you for honoring this man and showing respect to the medium he loved. It is heartening to see his presence and the gifts he offered through his RU-vid channel have been recognized by mainstream media. He deserved it. My son and I have bonded over comics all of his life and he and I both loved Comicstorian.
Im gonna miss that man, ive loved his audio dramas and ive been watching his videos simce 2017. I hope for his loved ones to recover. May ben rest easy. thanks for everything, Ben.
I am still in shock and disbelief. He was such a positive influence for all fans of comics and also reignited many people's love for comics. He will greatly be missed.
I used to spend hours listening to his retelling of comics...only way I learned about Last Ronin...gonna miss this guy...Glad he's being acknowledged for his good work😢
This is shocking! We lost another legend. Ben...we will never forget you. You are what made most people interested in comics. Thank you Ben for everything. ❤
Im 25 and i can say when im 80 and look back on comic i will remember Comicstorian. man this man was amazing for what he did and brought comics to all who he brought comics to and its not a small amount. Thanks you Ben and may you rest in peace. God loves you.
Damn this hits, I'm going to miss him. I was watching him when he had like 300k subs and I loved all the content he made especially with Rob, Sal, and Tiffany, and Joel, they loved comics and seemed like great people to want to be around. Ben and Rob made me love comics again.
RiP Mr . Potter 🙏🙏🙏😔 thank you for all the insight and memories. My condolences to your friends and especially your family. You will be dearly missed 😢
It's still hard hitting that he's passed. He got my bf and me back into comics again after a long hiatus. We had gotten so many based on his recommendations. Absolutely heartbreaking....
I hope Marvel and DC pay Homage to him because he’s passively (along with others like Variant Comics and Comics Explained) kept the flame of relevance alive for both publishers. Rest in Peace Benny. You will be missed dearly
I listened to Comicstorian everyday for years. He got me into DC comics (I'm more of a Marvel reader). Nobody could read a comic book the way Benny could. His voice acting was top tier and he was just a really good guy. He loved what he did and we loved him for it. Thank you Benny. RIP.
RIP friend. Thank you for the story telling. I enjoyed them immensely. There was a time when I just couldn’t sleep because of severe anxiety and stress. Your channel, your voice, kept me occupied, distracted and provided the escape I needed. I used to nod off to sleep listening to your voice and the stories you told. I am much better today. Thank you. I am grateful for your time and appreciate your work. Thank you, once again.
Damn, That breaks my heart when i saw him passing. he's my favorite comic dude with a great voice, you make my teenhood moments very joyful. RIP my man, gone but never forgotten.
My introduction to his videos which got me hooked was when he talked about how Flash Thompson became Venom. It was one of the few works by Marc Guggenheim that didn't piss me off and really moved me... RIP
I still can't believe he's gone. May have started watching him less over the last 2 years but always checked up on his content. Kept me informed on so many series and got me back into comics 8yrs ago. Rest east Benny, you've touched the hearts of many and will be missed ❤
He was one of the people who introduced me to comic books And I remember it. That's one of how I love making comics. The first ever video that I watched from him was the Ultimate Spider-Man series. He was my childhood. He made the characters so alive and real. As if they have souls. I was shocked as I heard the news of his passing. Part of me didn't even want to accept it and refuse that he's dead. Like he posted 3 days ago and I thought he was fine and playing a prank. I was trying to hold it together but I was crying, I couldn't hold it together. He really is gone. He was my childhood. He is my childhood. And he was and still is a legend to comic book history. His family will miss him, his fans will miss him, I'll miss him. He was a super man, a brave man. He made a difference. R.I.P Comicstorian 🕊🕊🕊
I never been this heartbroken before to someone i didnt even personally know but ive been a fan and a subscriber since 2014,we share the same love to comics and superheroes and mangas and anime RIP brother i will miss you truly thank you for sharing youre love and knowledge of comicbooks to us.
As a fan it was earth shattering hearing about a man who helped me through so many dark times had passed... losing those closest to me personally i know what pain that brings...Bennys family has an army behind them and i hope they know the amount of love and support we represent...RIP you absolute legend...Benny "Comicstorian" Potter a white lantern for all of time
Ben is the reason i became a comic book fan because of his reading i started reading them myself R.I.P comicstorian he will be missed but his legacy will not be forgotten 🕊️❤️.
Rest in peace Ben. I’ve been watching your videos for so many years that I feels like I grew up with you. Your videos helped me make friends and feel like it’s okay to like comics before the MCU popped off. My condolences to your family and much love ❤️
Most comics I remember now I remember through his voice. Benny saved so many of us, and he saved the art of true storytelling. He also was a voice for the people when it came to his breakdowns of comics and the changes being made in the comic community. He was basically who we all wished we could be for what we love. If the Comicstorian doesn’t go down in history as one of the saving graces of our time I will be so sad. Thank you Benny, even when it was tough for you you still saved us. RIP Comicstorian. Peace to the Fallen.
This is truly upsetting, I remember following back in 2016 when RU-vid was a completely different platform, back then you could actually DM the channel creators and had friends lists, it was really nice to chat with him briefly, this was back when he had around 100,000 subs. He also introduced me to other great channels and personal friends of his, Rob and Sal, from Comics Explained and ComicPop. R.I.P. Benny, truly an entertaining guy.
I’m glad to see this man getting the recognition he deserves ❤💯 It was Benny’s full stories that truly kept my love for comics going, and I know that’s the case for many others. Being one of his long-time subscribers you really got to see the unwavering passion that Benny and his team put into each video. They faced copyright, channel fluctuations, and algorithmic changes. Through all that Comicstorian never stopped doing it’s best to make the world of comics easier to understand. The community he narrated for might be a niche one, but the loss is beyond huge. RIP Benny
The fact he served like me drew me to his content. I had more than one rough night at college and he got me through it. He was an absolute treasure and he will be missed. RIP you goat
