One of these shorts is literally just Garnet saying “don’t be racist” and it still has mostly dislikes. If a cartoon character saying racism is bad makes you so angry you might just be racist. Maybe you need to examine why something so benign pisses you off so much.
100% racists having a hissy fit. Anyone remember just how much Mr. Rogers was demonized back in the day? Horrible people will be horrible, anything to stop the de-normalisation of bigotry.
@@herb2110 the only controversy I can think of was a leaked sketch of an unused gem named Concrete who was VERY stereotypically black and couldn’t read, but the show has always had very anti racist themes so imho it was just blown out of proportion by people who wanted an excuse to attack a non binary bisexual person 🤷♂️
Conservatives are not angry because this is offensive, but because its ideological poison. Conservatives take issues with idea, liberals take issue with how they're expressed, like if I call you a "colored person" or a "person of color." I hope you sleep well tonight knowing your "anti-racist" is the reason a woman who threw 1,500 (black) men in jail over pot is the VP.
@@Dennis-nc3vw thinking racism is bad and expressing this sentiment to children...is ideological poison? -you are right about liberals being obsessed with optics, though-
We're teaching children about racism, a learned behavior begining in childhood so they will hopefully grow up to be kind, compassionate people!?! Oh the humanity!
That’s not his point though! His point is these PC-gone-mad shows are indoctrinating our children that blacks, hispanics, females, and transgenders are equal to white men!
@@PittsburghSonido and thats... bad? cause that doesn’t sound bad to me. that sounds like the media that children are now consuming is reflecting on the diversity of our world now.
@@lillian.exe1013 I feel his comment was sarcastic, though I can never be certain that someone would say that unironically, it really feels like they said something so absurd it is a joke
bens followers who are also parents: WTF 🤬🤬 we’re boycotting cartoon network ! if i see any of my kids watching it i’m putting them tf out! idc if they’re 3 yrs old!!!🤬🤬
He could be calling out the current administration for things like re opening the child cages and flip flopping on minumum wage . Or the 2k checks they promised everyone.
the christopher columbus shit was so disturbing like imagine a child seeing that and thinking any of that was like fr like how inaccurate it is is disgusting
I'd rather show Cannibal Holocaust to children over Ben's cartoon. At least the moral of THAT movie is basically "just because a culture of people different from you are savages gives you no right to be a savage to them."
a children's cartoon: don't be mean to people based on their skin color. in fact, you should stand up for them! ben shartbeebo: i cannot fucking believe this is happening.
@@juvedoo99 I think that it's something that "society" says is concrete, but in reality it's abstract. Idk, don't quote me on that, that's just my guess 🤷

8:54 well kind of but that's erasing the fact the Muslim golden age was them copying down and translating Greek and Roman manuscripts as well as brutally invading India and ransacking Hindu and Buddhist universities and then translating the academic manuscripts (since India and China had loads of trade there were also lots of translated Chinese texts there as well) and burning all the religious and cultural texts...
Empathy I’ve found is very easy to confuse with projection. In many people’s attempts to be empathetic, they simply project their own views and feelings over the situation of others instead of trying to understand their feelings
@Polo Jack No, because you're an outlier in an ocean of people saying otherwise. There's nothing to empathise with when you're obviously ignorant and supporting Pencil Sharpener.
There's nothing wrong with getting mad at a kids show, kids deserve good entertainment just as much as anyone else. There is something wrong with Ben Shapiro because he got mad at a basic explanation of racism lol
@@sanjoabraham7316 Oh he definitely panders. That said, I do think he's pretty dumb because he's made some seriously just.... outright dumb statements. Like the famous 'sell your house and move' that he set himself up _for_ and it was still dumb.
That was pretty much what this psa was about. The basic plot of the short was that they were performing an anti-racism psa that needed heavy editing, and when they said the phrase “wether we’re black, white or purple, we’re equal!” (I’m paraphrasing but that’s about what they said), amethyst was like “woah hold up. Comparing the difference of experiences between black & white people, who are humans, to me, who is an alien, is kind of messed up. Racism shouldn’t be trivialized by making it about something it’s not.” It’s a pretty good short you should watch it.
Useless to say, but a lot of indigenous people had written languages, like has he never heard of Mayan. The smartest thing about Ben Shapiro is being able to realize that using big words will convince idiots you aren’t one of them.

I like how Hasan has to explain basic stuff to a fully-grown manchild that has kids of his own. Ben Shapiro doesn't understand basic empathy -- something I learned as a young child.
He’s the kid who got so mad when they got out that they boot the ball on the roof. Like in paintball when they get shot and they just rub off the paint like YOU DIDNT GET ME LOOK THERES JO MORE PAINT

He literally looked at Steven Universe; a show with tons of POC, lesbian aliens who kiss, and has deep, serious concepts and said “Yes, this is the hill I will die on”
@@BlakeGeometrio They keeping telling me to assimilate... I tell them to quit being racist and than they call me a racist as they tell me about how confederate statues being taken down is erasing history... As they try to convince me to assimilate. While also telling me to "just get over it" Hard to when I grew up on a reservation HAHAHA
I can’t stop laughing at the part where the cartoon says be anti-racist and Ben just repeats it like the phrase kicked his mother in the shins and stole her change.
@@tintin6291 Seeing color is normal. Pretending you don’t notice my skin color makes me feel weird because it’s like you’re saying my skin is a bad thing so you try not to see it. It’s odd. Just be normal.
@@jubilantsleep seeing color is racist because you are seeing someone for their color and not their personality. @@IAmTheBugInsideYou Steven universe has been airing since 2013 and has always had content that would trigger this complete knob of a person. From LGBTQ+ representation, good cast diversity, anti body shaming, feminism, and of course anti-racist messaging, it's surprising he hasn't talked about it earlier.
@@Nicole-gt7nv That's what I thought cause I was a kid once obviously & we all were. I didn't like Steven Universe but it has lots of positive messages & information to give, & it's important for children to learn about these important issues when they're younger to better absorb & understand them. Yet what is this at least twice now, that Benny is getting awfully bent over something that has nothing to do with him lol.
@@IAmTheBugInsideYou Yeah! as a fan of american TV animation, i can't say SU was my favorite but definitely worth a watch. It catches more flack than it deserves, tbh. But yeah, this is once again an example of Mr. Shabino being completely out of touch. Makes sense though, he's just catering to his audience.
@@Nicole-gt7nv I remember Foster's Home & Teen Titans & others like that from around that time, or Adventure Time/Regular Show(which was an adult swim program but got tuned down a little bit for a younger audience.) Anything for them to get upset about I suppose, culture war distractions keeps us divided so we forget about class identity.
I mean most children don't know what racism is either so why put it there ,when I was a kid I did not even know what the word racist is I was thought to treat other people with respect by my parents no matter who they are ... whatever
@@DefaultDanielS Kids being brought up in racist households who get taught through cartoons like these about the world view outside their own home: “Am I a joke to you?”
Ben is so annoying. So telling insensitive jokes in the past that *he* didnt realize was offensive is ok, but teaching kids to be better humans is bad.
The video isn’t teaching kids to be better humans. The video is teaching kids that they are at a disadvantage because of their skin color. Which is false. That is why Ben Shapiro doesn’t like it.
He also doesn't understand that people, in general, no matter their race, have different experiences in everything. For example: Some people have good parents, others have terrible parents. Some people were bullied and some weren't.
Lmfao this is a man who lives in his own tiny bubble. And because he hasn't experienced something, it isn't real to him. It doesn't exist. The ignorance is insane.
A Literal Kids Show: "People of different colors are treated differently because of racism" The Guy who talks about facts over feelings: "IM SO UPSET RN HOW COULD THEY SAY THIS TO CHILDREN"
If I saw this as a kid, my first reaction would not be “wE sHoUlD tReAt eAchOthEr dIffErenT bC oF oUr rAcE” but “o, black people experience oppression and we shouldn’t ignore that”
I don’t get why some people get so offended when we start talking about equality and privilege. It’s sus. It’s like they’re overcompensating for something.
honestly, love that steven universe’s characters are delivering these commercials. these animated characters are more educated than ben, a fully functioning adult.
Shapiro talks so quickly, because if he were to speak slowly, his surface level points would be much easier to dismiss as detached from the complicated discussion of reality 😉
Broo “algebra sounds a lot like al-qaeda” is fucking hilarious. If I were back in high school I’d want to randomly stand up in math class and say that!
That’s not what the video was saying. The video was saying that colored children are at a disadvantage because of their skin color. Which is false. That is what Ben Shapiro was criticizing.
The thing that's so hilariously inaccurate about the native American cartoon is the fact that we had an early colonizer settlement actually. The short version us people sailed over, set up their town, ran out of food, killed, salted and ate the women, and then died because the men didnt have practical skills like cooking and cleaning so the colony was wiped out. I can see if I can find a source but I read about in in an AP thick ass textbook at the time so it might be tough to track down. Point being showing native Americans as cannibalistic savages when we had a whole colony die off after our own white folk resorted to cannibalism and were too manly to know how to clean something is funny in the non hilarious way.
So I wasnt talking about Jamestown here but you can also see Jamestown and I believe they were 5 total colonies where white colonizer towns resorted to cannibalism. It also didnt help that awful relationships with the natives meant they were alone and not able to trade for food anymore after that bridge was burned. Also see the Mayflower. I cant find an internet article about the colony I mentioned because everyone wants to talk about Jamestown only but I can pull up the textbook that talked about it
@@avairejustdesserts9921 There have been several white groups that had to resort to cannibalism. Same thing happened with the Donner party, I believe since they couldn’t access an easier path to their destination due to natives owning the path and having a poor relationship with the colonizers, they tried to go through this mountain range and got stuck up there, I believe it was because of snowfall. Eventually they ran out of food, nothing else to eat besides each other, and they resorted to cannibalism.
Yeah that's the weirdest part of the ad, they could've been use a more informal dialogue for the kid character so that it becoming more realistic and probably can relate more to the children
I can just imagine Ben Shabibo eating his bowl of Froot Loops on saturday morning, seeing this cartoon and immediately spitting out his milk in a fit of rage
8:50 I actually chose to research this for a paper for school and it's insane how much math, astronomy, geometry, and engineering was pioneered by Arabians in the 1400s
-Systematic racism exists but, race itself doesn't (or at least it shouldn't). It was manufactured by rich Europeans trying to control this region of the world hundreds of years ago. -Race has even evolved as a concept over time too. I'm Irish and wouldn't have been considered 'white' a hundred years ago, but today I am. Barack Obama is literally half Irish and half Kenyan but is called 'black'. Also, the one drop rule, or the concept of the rule, is stupid and still prevalent in this country today when it shouldn't be. It is a result of America's racist past. -I would like to get rid of the idea of race and the categories we are all shoveled into. The "Dr." Umar Johnsons and Richard Spencers of the world must not exist in the future. -We share 99.99% of our DNA with one another, with the last 0.01% or so making up much of the differences we see on the outside of each individual human being.
Do people not understand that most kid shows have a moral/lesson in each episode. Saying that you don't want a lesson to educate people on equality is sorta suspicious.
That fucking Columbus cartoon was infuriating “No more scalping” like... THERE WERE LITERALLY BOUNTIES ON NATIVE SCALPS. WHITE PEOPLE SCALPED PEOPLE TOO. And also “human rights” ah yes the famous human rights of Columbus. All the native girls and women he forced into sex trafficking were treated so well. Remember when he said his favorites were under the age of 9? But I guess they didn’t count bc indigenous people don’t count as humans am I right????
the "colonizers brought mathematics to the natives" is LITERALLY UNTRUE like the mayans literally invented the concept of the number zero, that cartoon genuinely left my mouth agape
my coach would tell me all the time that she didn’t “see color” but would treat me differently than everyone else on the team (i was the only black girl)
