Despite what some people say, early 90s was my favorite generation: Chris Rock, Adam Sandler, Mike Myers, Rob Schneider, Dana Carvey, David Spade, Tim Meadows, Chris Farley, Ben Stiller, Norm McDonald, Jon Lovitz, Phil Hartman.

There were some really forgettable seasons though. Like when Janeane Garofalo and Chris Elliott were on...weird, 'cause I love both of them. But thems was some lean years, writing wise.

All sketch comedy shows are hit and miss, but Stiller's Fox show had probably the most good sketches to lame ones. And Stiller was a very versatile performer, doing impressions of Tom Cruise, Bruce Willis, Ron Perlman, Yakov Smirnoff, Andre Agassi, Daniel Day-Lewis, Bruce Springsteen, and even Sydney Pollack as Frankenstein's monster.

Most comics today agree, it was Ben Stiller who took sketch comedy to it's next level. I hear Belushi and Chevy were huge fans back in the day.. especially of his cutting edge jokes about Eddie Munster and the way he noticed that Tom Cruise smiles a lot. His material just brought sketch comedy to new heights. He really paved the way, as did the TV show All That which I believe was the first comedy variety show to air in the US.

Wonder why Howard has never hosted SNL (he hasn't has he?)? He's done a lot of promotion for his movie and books when they release and he's obviously a big fan of the show. Hell, they're both in New York as well. Did he say no because of the late night hours he'd have to do? He could easily not do his show for a week while he's working on SNL. I know he goes to bed at 8pm so maybe it would just throw him off his schedule too much or something. You'd think he'd consider it worth it though to get to host just once.
