Was thinking the same thing! There were a few similarities between that character & the one on Seinfeld, but Arthur had more sweetness & vulnerability, all played beautifully by Jerry Stiller. Arthur was instrumental to the success of that show. Fun to see Stiller & Meara on old Tattle Tales game shows! Their love seemed so genuine, and is reflected by their lovely son. Thanks for the laughs, and my best to their families.
I love King of Queens, watching all the episodes on the NBC app Peacock currently. It was a well written show with other very talented actors but I don’t know if it coulda made it without him as Arthur Spooner
How do you know that? Family member? I think he was an amazing actor, but I am not arrogant enough to say anything more about someone I didn't know personally.
So many great scenes! I loved the one whete Arthur asks Doug to help him send back a package of deodorant that gave him a rash, and it turned out to be industrial glue (or something).
Condolences to the Stiller family. I watched him first on Seinfeld and he was hilarious. I lost my father 6 years ago to agent orange exposure in Vietnam working on planes. He did 3 tours and served 22 years. He was the best dad and I still feel the void because we spent a lot of time together.
I never knew how much he looked like his dad...wow! I never watched Seinfeld but laughed so hard watching him on Queens as the neurotic dad. His timing with the others on Queens was impeccable! A natural who absolutely loved his work!
Jerry Stiller was hilarious in Seinfeld and King of Queens. I had so many good laughs watching him perform with the casts. I'm sorry to hear of his passing. It sounds like he was a very nice man, wonderful father and husband.
I'm old enough to remember Stiller and Meara. Even though I was young -- I still "got" their humor. So talented and I'm sure seeing their son's success brought them both great joy. I lost my dad, six years ago. It's surreal to lose a parent. A very personal private journey. (And my dad was stationed in Livorno in WWII.) Such a great generation.
Loved how Jerry Stiller could look absolutely angry or annoyed in a role, but at the same time be absolutely hilarious! He cracked me up on King of Queens! R.I.P. Jerry Stiller!
Just a perfectly beautiful interview. A devoted son sharing the love of his Dad, we could feel the profound depth between father and son in the interview. We shall never forget Jerry Stiller, he lives on through his son. Thank you
I would have paid a high price to hang out just one day at Mr. Stiller's house. He cracked me up. He was what I call a 'dangerous comedian', in that he could make you die of hysterics. Whether it was 'The king of Queens', 'Sienfeld', or anything he ever did, he was such a 'great guy'...he always lifted my spirits, and brought me so much laughter, especially in such hard times. (Well now, I guess we're 'gonna have to play reruns!♥️)
I didn't know the crazy funny Dad on Seinfeld was his Father. He was a fine actor and he just made the show, the yelling at George, seemed so real😂 RIP Ben.
What an amazing and humbling interview. King of Queens really helped pass the time and keep my mind off things when i was deployed. RIP Jerry and my prayers for his family.
My god this mans just the sweetest, he included everyone else and knowing that so many of us can’t see our loved ones, can’t be beside them when they pass, it’s heartbreaking. Rip Jerry stiller.
I love this family the stiller have always warmed my heart ever since I was a kid. Ben is one of my faves Jerry really left a lasting impression on the world.
I grew up watching Stiller and Meara, I remember watching them on Merv, Mike Douglas a show called Tattletales and the list goes on and on they brought family so many laughs over the years. Thank you for sharing your parents with us over the years. It is great to watch you grow in the business and continue to bring joy and laughter to millions of people just as your parents did. Stay safe, stay strong and please continue to shine the light that is in your heart when you are ready to.
I was just a kid at the time.....so I can't remember any of their routines...but I certainly recall seeing Stiller & Meara on Ed Sullivan. I was probably more into Topo Gigot ( the Italian mouse ) in those days. LOVED Frank Costanza.
Ben, your parents were comedy classcs! I grew up watching them and laughing with them for years!! Then to see your Dad on Seinfeld where he was so amazing...whata gist!!! Bless them both!!!
This was a absolutely wonderful interview but I have to come back another time and watch it because I have too many tears right now. Jerry Stiller was beloved by people from every Walk of Life I'm so glad that his son Ben is still here to carry on through him. I'm so sad that Ben now has two parents that are gone.
It's wonderful when the children of stars speak so warmly about their parents. We see the public side they see the private and in Jerry's case both were the same. He was a mensch. RIP dear funny man. We will be enjoying your work for many years to come. :o)
Good interview, and our deepest condolences to you Ben and family...I lost my both parents within a 10 month period....I miss the things we did, without realizing until you can do it any longer. Shalom!
Jerry was one of the funniest actors out there. He and Anne did a great job raising their two kids. We never heard bad things about Ben or his sister in the media.
I LOVE this guy!! Great actor, very funny & so handsome! 😊 I'm so sorry for your loss Ben, I know the pain of losing a parent also. My mother died in 2015 of Dementia and it is very heartbreaking. God bless you and your family. R.I.P. Jerry 🙏💙
Every time I see Jerry talking out of character, he seemed like he was such a sweet, nice man. Seeing Ben light up talking about him, I believe it for sure.
I m a huge Stiller fan, of all three. I remember a teen magazine back in the 70 s had a photo of Ben with his celebrate father Jerry, on the streets in NY.
This man was a genius in his comedic routine. I cant imagine what Seinfeld or King of Queens would be like without him!! He made these shows stand out, especially King of Queens as "Arthur Spooner!!" Just watched a few episodes today, and Im laughing so much!! RIP Mr Stiller..you have certainly touched so many lives with your humor!!
Jerry on Seinfeld and King of Queens was my every reason to watch those shows. His outbursts just made me laugh from inside out. Great family of actors. ❤
