I went to the Ben Thanh Market in Ho Chi Minh and the food market was awesome. So many foods and dishes I have never seen before. Compared to America these dishes look so interesting and the way they prepare food out here is completely different as well.
Food is a HUGE topic that engulfs cultures and allows people to socialize while haveing the pleasurable experience of eating. I have noticed here in Vietnam the culture has WAY MORE of an emphasis on community. More often than not you will see families and friends eating together and having genuine conversations. Even if they are not eating, the people here get together on the daily to gossip and socialize. It's really refreshing to see. In America we ignore each other and don't spend too much time together aside from the holidays.
