The Benchmade 940 is an iconic knife. But does the icon still hold up to the competition like it used to? I’ve carried and used mine for about a year now, and here are my thoughts
I have the 940 and I bought some fancy titanium scales to put on it... Have not gotten around to doing it yet... I also have 940-1....it is really nice. and planning on purchasing the 9400. I really appreciate this knife and highly recommend it as a first time knife owner. Its very dependable....my husband uses his 940 every day.... The best advice I can give you is to clean it once in a while.... pocket dust, dirt, and grime isn't good for any knife...... Take are of your knife and it will take care of you. :)
I’m so close to getting this as I’ve heard nothing but good thing about it but it’s currently $240 on the benchmade website I currently carry a buck 110 for my edc and it’s super solid and it’s an $80 knife and i thought that was a lot for a edc however I know benchmade are some of the best blades ever made my only concern is I have large hands so do u think this will fit my hand comfortably and also will it stand up to a lot of use and keep its edge ?
I have fairly large hands, and both the 940 and the buck 110 fit comfortably. You’ll notice that the 940 is significantly lighter and easier to carry than the Buck while retaining virtually all of the cutting edge that the buck provides. I got my 940 off of eBay for a little more than 100$. New ones on eBay can be had for about 200. Amazon and other knife retailers (bladehq, knife center, etc) also likely have better deals than the benchmade website. Hope this helps!
It’s close but I believe that has more to do with the two new versions I have the carbon fiber one and the aluminum I don’t. But I also have the green 940
@@right8630 I’ve owned my original 940 for 4 years now and carry it quite a bit. Other than the blade being scratched up a bit, it’s never had any issues. Still dead center with zero blade play, and never had a problem with the axis lock on that model. The 940 is a super solid design. I really like the Bugout also, but if I had to choose one over the other for functionality, I think the 940 takes the cake every time.
