Curtis was my foreman for about 5 months. I went on storm with him after Irma hit Florida. He worked us to death but he always put us first. I learned a lot from him during those 5 months.

Quick review: Curtis is a highly trained, and hard working man man who loves his dad and family and believes and trusts in Our Lord, America and loyalty to his brothers. Benchmark is an American owned company that puts people first, quality first and safety first and all else second. Together they keep America and American's working safely and that is what it's all about. I did not know that 5 foot could be so tall. You, Curtis, are a giant in my eyes. Rock on - and stay safe. 1972 my dad started working for PG&E, 40 years later as he retired my brother followed. I was fortunate and unfortunate to walk a blue line. The utmost fucking respect given for the guys I work along side for energy and gas.

My son is a Lineman here in North Carolina and I could not be more prouder. Everyday when he walks out the door we say I Love You and I tell him to be safe. Not only from the idiots on the road but what he does every single day. God Bless You All.

One of the best videos I’ve seen yet on what it takes to be a linesman my father was and I know what it takes didn’t see him much but the time that he was around and in my life I learned a lot from and it made me the man I am today

They do it for the money. A guy who does it cuz he likes it won't talk about all that danger shit. A guy who does it cuz he loves it, looks at it as working with big toys, the bucket trucks. Guys who do it straight for the money are the ones who are "it's about going home every day". I did communications linework and never thought of it as dangerous, having a guy drive you down the road while you're extended out 40 feet in a truck with a cable attached to you. I loved it. Never thought of it as dangerous. All you gotta do is watch what the fuck you're doing. Stop watching what yur doing and yeah you'll get hurt, or worse, like my coworker, killed by 19,900 volts on a slackspan which ran thru a tree. Must have been hard to jig out cable thru a tree with the cable right at the neutral cuz if we slacked it with power, it'd been on the ground. So a fucked up spot will get ya, but if you're watching everything, you'll be fine.

Working on underground now. Want to move to overhead and learn both sides then move to a co op. This a great line of work, just follow your safety protocols. Safety saves lives. Never overlook anything. Even when I was in commercial electric with 120, 277, and 408 we checked everything to make sure it was dead. 120 is aggravating when it hits you with a load, but 277 and up can hospitalize and even kill. A couple thousand will cook you like dinner. Always check, always ground. No job is worth a life

Outstanding . I worked for Pike and put myself through college . Then Bellsouth ( at that time called me up ) I went with them instead of Duke ( better pay better benefits ) . I had much rather work power than what I do . In power you have brothers around you there to help as a cable repairman it's one man one bucket truck . Stay safe and always be your brothers KEEPER . Lineman talk about being all brothers but Ive built line for non union and union companies and there’s definitely a divide there!! I just don’t get the division. It’s not ALWAYS the case but have witnessed the despise on both sides.

mikeyd1513 not that I’ve ever seen, you just have to be ocd about looking or listening for generators. Back feed will damn sure will get ya especially when you got them idiot sticks on your legs and tired. I never went into the job thinking i would lose a co worker one day, but it damn sure didn’t take long to figure out it was a possibility.
