The 12" benchtop bandsaw Steel City model 50112 assembly. Carefully open the box. There are two layers of packing. The top layer holds the the table
the fence assembly, the miter gauge, the fence rail and screws, the wrenches, the push stick, the leg supports and legs. Also in this layer are the hex head screws and the carriage bolts for the leg assembly.
Below this first layer is the bandsaw unit itself. Once you remove the components from the first layer then remove the styrofoam packing to access the unit beneath. This bench bandsaw is quite heavy so make sure you get someone to assist you to lift the it from the box.
We suggest you follow the procedure described here to assemble the bandsaw. Start by mounting the table onto its trunnion. Remove the hex head screws from the table's underside. Level the trunnion then ease the table into position. Tighten the first two screws then tip the table onto approximately a 45 degree angle. This makes it easier to tighten the remaining two hex head screws. Once all the screws are tight, return the table to the level position.
The next step is to fit the front rail and the fence that runs along this. Tighten the locknuts about half way in the first instance this will allow you to fit the front rail snugly into position. Slide the rail and its attached fence into position then fully tighten all four locknuts. Avoid over-tightening these.
If your band saw is not going on a bench you'll want to fit the leg assembly. Carefully lay the bandsaw on its side. Attach each of the legs in turn with two hex head screws. Once these have been done attach the supports.
Carefully stand the bandsaw upright on the legs. Put the tools into their tool holder and screw the push stick holder into the aperture provided for that purpose. Place the push stick on the holder and the basic assembly is complete.
