Forged all the way. I'm happy to give a few yards for increased playability. I feel like I hit them a touch higher and with a little extra spin. That's not scientifically proven lol 😂
I used to played forged back in high school had a set of Wilson Staffs!! I Iiked the feel and instant feedback!! Now I have a set I got when I got out of the Army and they are cavity backs they work for me since I don't get to play as much as I would like to!!
Zax Drums Definitely agree with liking the feedback it gives you but with you not playing as much that is probably a wise move to go into the cavity back to give you a bit more forgiveness!
I'm a french fitter, and still 2 months i used the same ping stickers and plate. But I've Seen the plate is 3-4 mm higher than the fairway, and for me the result of the lie angle is false. I prefer use a Sharpie and a sticker and sée the orientation of the mark
I have always bent my 60 to what my irons were. What a huge mistake. My 60* lie was 65.5 and I made it 63 and what a huge difference around the greens it has made. Your full swing is can be very different than the short swings esp in my case. No more bunker shots in the heel. Ball doesn't hook when pitching and I can keep my hands in a more relaxed position. So glad I flattened my 60 and 54.
I’ve owned a Mitchell loft and lie machine for 12 years. One of the purchases I’ve ever made in golf. It’s amazing how much better an iron hits when the lie is right.
My Specialty!!! Lofts and Lies.....I always hype these up in my area as I do all the clubs work for about 6 courses. Average Golfers don’t know lofts and lies will adjust on their own every 10ish rounds.
Eric you definitely seem to know what you’re talking about… I play Callaway Apex irons and hit them really high. What is a standard loft adjustment to lessen the height for better trajectory.. 2 degrees?
jmitchell2112 to take the flight down, yeah 2 degrees would be ideal however it will effect the bounce of the club. If you get it done at a shop alway have them check the Lie angle if you make the club stronger. Sometime it will effect that so you need that set back, sometime it can flatten or raise the toe end of the club. Shops tend to over look that part.
This was extremely informative. Im a new golfer getting lessons and very short at 5'7". My instructor told me that I should go see a fitter to maybe get my irons bent down 2°.
Great vid mate! Really enjoyed it, very interesting I play 716cb Titleist and love them also 2 deg upright but am going to get them checked after seeing this vid, cheers from Australia mate!!
I recently did a fitting for my driver and the guy told me I have long arms which can affect my ability to swing longer clubs. I had the lie angles on my 4 and 5 irons adjusted and I’m really excited to see what changes
Zac I would be totally scared that I would bend it too much!! I never seen this before really interesting Zac!! Never fix something whích is working in retrospect to the stinger club!! But it looks like it worked with your 4iron!! Lets us know how you do in that tournament!!
Zax Drums You are absolutely right and I would normally agree don’t mess with something that works but thought I could improve with the angle the face is making contact with the ground through impact. So we didn’t touch the loft just lie angle! Will do 😀👊
@Zac quick question here. I put your numbers in a list to see your yardage gapping out of curiosity and would appreciate if you could enlighten us on it. Understand that the numbers shown in the video may not have been averages but seemed like just from 1 shot for each club, but am still curious about your thought process on the gapping. Carry Gap (to 1 less club) 60* 105 - 56* 118 13 54* 126 8 (this makes sense given on 2* change from 56 to 54) 50* 140 14 PW 153 13 9i 162 9 (anomaly or intentional?) 8i 171 9 (anomaly or intentional?) 7i 190 19 (anomaly or intentional?) 6i 204 14 5i 218 14 4i 239 21 From the numbers it seems you got a pretty consistent gapping of about 13-14 yards between clubs, except 1) between 9 iron and 8 iron you have 9 yards gap 2) between PW and 9 iron you have 9 yards gap 3) between 7 iron and 8 iron you got a whooping 19 yards gap.. Were you just trying to get the irons to be bent to manufacturer specs, or was the process to get it bent to your playing yardages? the inconsistent gapping between your PW and 7 irons seem odd, given that if anything these should be the clubs that you would want more control over distance gapping to hit more greens? especially the gapping between 7 and 8, say if you left yourself 182 yards from the pin, wouldn't that be a hard yardage to hit with these gappings?
Brian Myung Hey Brian I really appreciate your questions! So for the video I just used one swing from each club. There were some yardage gaps that were not exactly what we were looking for from PW-7 so we will need to slightly adjust those clubs to get the numbers more consistent. The range session after was more of a test and did notice some clubs needed to be tweaked. I want for most of the gaps to fall between 12-14 yards. Thanks again for addressing this topic!
@@ZacRadford Thank you for the response. That makes a whole lot of sense now. Its still a mystery to me how clubs with consistent 3*-4*-5* differences can sometimes give quite inconsistent yardage gapping.. i've checked the lofts on all my clubs as well, but some clubs just gave pretty inconsistent gappings... almost like some clubs are "hotter" than others... Anyways.. Huge huge huge fan of you and I absolutely love your videos. Thank you for the many hours of pure joy you've provided watching you shoot absolutely brilliant golf. Cheers
Brian Myung I can definitely agree with that that for some reason even though the loft says it should be a consistent gap the yardages do not show the same. I’m so glad you enjoy the content and will keep it coming! Thanks so much for your awesome support 👊
Christopher Acker So glad you enjoyed the video! It is possible that your wedges will be the same. I would recommend to get them the same then take them out to the range to test just to make sure! Because a couple of my clubs differ just a bit on the lie angles. Hope this helps 👊
dumb question, but does loft and lie changes on the club over time if you hit them too much? I don't understand how when you got your lob wedge at 60, but it was actually at 61. is that because it was adjusted before?
Jun Wu Yes over time forged clubs will change and that’s why I’d recommend to get them checked fairly often if you are playing regularly! The 60 was not adjusted before so that is what it changed to over time.
So how tall are you Zac? I am 6'2'' or 188 cm but I'm long in the body and short in the legs. I have previously been 1/4 inch long and 1 degree upright. And I am trying to make my swing plane more upright as it is too flat at the moment. I would appreciate any advice you might give. After not playing for many years standard clubs feel too short.
Yooo !! :) Great Video my friend! Really like it! keep em coming. By the way; just happen that Zac is being on Dallas when there were Dallas S vs Nashville P. coincidence? ;)
MATTI Helenius So glad you enjoyed the video Matti!! Haha that actually was just by coincidence and an unfortunate outcome to the series 😞 and already ready for next season!! Lesssss goooo Preds!!
I play cast and am getting a lot of hooks. I think my clubs are to upright for me. I'm 5'7". I've heard that you can't bend cast clubs... they'll break. Am I screwed?
Are your clubs Ping by chance? If so you can send them to Ping and they will bend the lie and if one was to break they keep backups around for clubs many model cycle back so you won’t be out of a club. Otherwise only ever bother having forged clubs adjusted with the exception of some non forged wedges but those are typically milled and not cast. Vokey’s are a good example of this. Don’t bend cast Cleveland Wedges. I’ve seen many of those snap off at the hosel including two of my own. Vokey, Callaway, and really anything forged you are free and clear.
good lord, please don't touch the stinger club... don't. just don't.. If i were you i'd have a insurance policy on that club. and have Titleist make some back-up stinger clubs just for you. please don't...
