BENDING STUBBORN HEARTS | The Word Exposed with Cardinal Tagle (May 19, 2024)
Brothers and sisters, today is Pentecost Sunday. We are celebrating the descent of the Holy Spirit on the apostles in Jerusalem, marking the birth of the Church in mission.
In the gospel, the Risen Lord speaks of the Holy Spirit to his disciples. He told them that the Holy Spirit is the Advocate, whom he would send from the Father. The Spirit of Truth who would testify to him and guide them to all truth.
The Risen Lord breathes the Holy Spirit on his fearful disciples. Their hearts were opened. Their protective walls were torn down. They can now be sent as witnesses of Christ.
Friends, let us invoke the Holy Spirit not only when times are difficult but every day. He is our comforter. He is divine light. He heals and strengthens us. He bends stubborn hearts. He is the love that proceeds from the Father and the Son.
Come, Holy Spirit!
