Great Video. Simple, effective and informative. What is the temperature of the iron? would you do anything differently with highly figured maple rim? In your prep for bending do you chamfer the edges and sand the surface?
Hey Honestly, I heat the element on highest setting and then turn it down one “click”. If I’m using propane torch and a piece of pipe, I’ll just hear it until water turns to steam immediately. Different woods are thicknessed a bit differently. The more figure the more you have to aware of grain run out and cross grain patterns. I don’t pre-soak wood. Some do. I’m general, I’ll thickness sides to 0.085”-0.100”…depending on wood species. Hope that helps some!
