On March 21, 2024, I gave a trial lecture (Norwegian: prøveforelesning) as part of my PhD defense at UiT, The Arctic University of Norway on 'Benefits and challenges of conducting research as an insider'. The PhD evaluation committee released the topic for this lecture 10 working days before the set date. The 45-minute lecture was designed for students who have been through one year or more of university education (as per PhD regulations at the university). Hope this lecture helps others who are thinking through similar topics in academic research, particularly in the humanities and social sciences.
