Thank you very much for your excellent review! I'm new to IPSC (just one year with pistol and rifle) and I've been flirting with a pump gun for a long time. Your great presentation finally convinced me: today I ordered my Nova Speed 😃
Thanks! I also got the M2 Speed, it has a very similar feeling to the Nova Speed. The InnovaTAC gen1 adapters will work fine, but the gen2 will be a little nicer looking fit with the Comfortech 3 stock. They will be available very soon.
Thanks a looot. I'm going to start with IPSC Practical Shotgun Manual (pump action). I already do IPSC pistol and mini-rifle (cal .22). I don't know what shotgun should buy (or avoid). My shooting club has areas about 25 meters long. Targets will be from 2 meters to a maximum of 15 meters. There is a proyect to construct new areas about 50 m but I don't know if shotguns will be allowed in the new areas. As I can see most people use Benelli Nova - supernova. There are 2 Benelli models Nova Tactical and Nova Slug that comes in 50 cm (20 inches) barrels (I'm writing from Spain). I don't know if those models can be competitive, having in mind the shooting areas (25 meters x 45 metros) and targets distance. Seems that those Tactical models don't allow chokes. Sure I'm wrong but 61 cm (24 inches) seems too long (Again having in mind the kind of stages that can be set in the shooting range I go). Or may be just it's a question of practice / training. I'm abosolute lost and, please, I need a little "enlightment". Thanks a lot.
Thanks Antonio! Targets in IPSC shotgun competitions are mostly (90%) 8-15 meters away, when shooting birdshot. But sometimes closer or further, usually up to 25m. So you can train in 25m range, no problem. But it will be good to train also for longer distances. And of course slug up to 50m and further if possible. The Nova Speed is now the best choice for IPSC standard manual and ready out of the box. Every other shotgun will require a lot of extra parts and gunsmithing (and still won't be so fast). Recommended barrel length 24" or 26". Personally I do not recommend shorter barrel.
Dear Jaakko, great review. I already have Nova Speed. What I found - it shoots quite high. On 25m distance about 18cm above PoA with slugs with **** (IC) choke and already B-DX stock adjustment - any advice?
@@antonisdgr the answer was in the video :D . Both are competitive, the 24" is slightly more agile and 26" slightly easier to shoot. Depends on the stage which one can give advantage. You need to choose what fits your style and make a personal decision. I know I could personally shoot a little faster with the 26", but I have chosen to learn to work with the more snappy 24". So I gain a little time in handling and transitions, but shooting takes more effort than with a longer and heavier gun.
Nice video. I'm just curious what other mag tubes are compatible with Nova Speed, because the original tube is too long to fit most of hard shell cases. And it's almost impossible to find the tube you mentioned in your video in Canada. Do you have any other options on mag tubes for this model? Thanks in advance.
All Benelli extension tubes have the same thread. The extension tube nut (the red nut in Nova Speed) varies to model to model. But you can attach any Benelli tube to the nut. The Nova Speed thread is M3, so complete M3 tubes should also fit.
@@jasuhepThanks a ton! That makes my life a lot easier to just find tubes to attach on the original red nut instead of finding tube&nut sets, since M3 is prohibited in Canada which makes it nearly impossible to find.
Most likely a old M1 has a old standard Mobil choke. The new Benelli chokes are Crio Plus and are longer. The rifled Benelli Ampliator shown in the video is a special shot disperser choke.
If the action is unlocked (trigger has been pulled and forend can move), the lifter will not lock. The shotgun needs always to be cycled before a reload.
Thank you for your reply. The shotgun is in the exact same mechanical condition as yours is featured at 8:00 minutes in the video. For some reason, the shell loader will not stay down. I brought it to the gun store from which I purchased it and we had approximately 10% success rate at pushing it down and it staying down. This makes loading very inconvenient. Here in Canada, all warranty claims are handled by Stoeger Canada and would take 4-6 weeks and also I would have to pay for shipping. Is there something I can do to troubleshoot the problem myself before having to submit a warranty claim?
@@robertconyers6207 the lifter system is mechanically quite simple. If there is some issue in the detent mechanism, I would first suspect something disturbing the function of the spring loaded pin in the side of trigger group. That pin keeps the lifter down. You can DM me a picture / more detailed description in facebook/instagram.
Thanks Jaakko. I ordered the semi auto as it maybe more beginner friendly. Do you know when the Orlov performance telescopic extension tube will be back in stock?
Very Good Video, thumbs up. I have a question. How can i get these exploded drawings. I cant find it on benelliusa or benelli italy. I cant see no specific manual to the Nova Speed and in my Package was also only that Quick guide. Greetings
You can find it on benelli.it, scroll down on the Nova Speed page and click ”download manual” . The page asks for email, but once the form is filled the manual can be downloaded benelli.it/en/arma/nova-speed
I'm just wondering why someone would choose the 24 inch barrel over the 26 inch barrel when doing so doesn't shorten the overall length since the magazine tube extends past the muzzle? Trying to decide between the two lengths myself, and don't know the pros and cons.
@@jasuhep Thank you Jaakko! I also found it shortly after watching your review video. I am mainly a IPSC handgun shooter trying to dip my foot into shotgun. Thank you for sharing your knowledge.
@@jasuhep wow why they did that, m3 magazine extension are almost nowhere to be found. It make the customization of the mag a nighmare and really expensive. Good job benelli!
@@joebob9292 Nova Speed has some parts that are from the M3, like the fixed magazine tube. For the factory it makes a lot of sense. But it is good to know that all the Benelli orginal magazine extensions fit the (red) tube nut, so it is possible to fit the shotgun with shorter tube if needed. The 12 round tube comes with the set.
