Bengals Moving Dax Hill to Cornerback | Is it the Right Decision? 

Absolutely. His explosiveness and he’s very fluid in the hips. Could be a very good fit for him😊

If I recall, most of his best highlights were from press coverage near the line. So at least this gives him a chance to do what he does.

The details I heard were that actual play wasn't as much a problem at safety as was being the "quarterback of the defense" and calling coverages. He wasn't able to handle playing the position AND being in charge of that communication. That was why they decided to move him to corner where you just have your assignment and aren't quarterbacking the defense. If that's true I feel like the move to CB could work out.

Dax is talented. But let’s be honest he was drafted to be Bates’ replacement at safety. After Dax’s 1st year starting, we signed a free agent to take his place. You don’t sign a free agent to take the place of your 1st round draft pick in year 3 unless there’s a problem.

I’m not frustrated with Dax in any way shape or form. I am frustrated with the coaches and the front office Duke Tobin in particular.

He plays best as a Box/nickel/TE cover guy.

He has all the talent... We didn't have a plan or a vision on how to use him... If, if, if,... 3rd year and we are moving him to corner... This is by all intents and purposes a miss... Again, not on talent but fit, and that is only affecting his value because we've drafted talent and don't know how to use him... I won't be surprised if he returns to safety midseason because stone isn't the guy we thought he'd be... idk, we'll see.

I do like James hope in Dax, I’m having my doubts about Dax but whilst he’s a Bengals I guess we all just keep to get behind him, give him our support and hope he comes good

I thought he was going be that TE covering, blitzing CB. You would think he can cover Kelce, Kittle, Andrews, Njoku, etc.

Battle & Stone at Safety! CTB & Dax at Corner! I’m all for that. DJ can learn from Hilton and take that slot role next season

We have 2 dam good outside CBs in Turner and CTB. DJ Ivey had the speed to play outside too. Josh Newton doesn’t. Dax Hill does too but he is better at Nickel.

Is there anything to the idea that players who can move all over the field can become a nightmare for the opposing offense? One example I am thinking of was Troy Polamalu. Sometimes he was at Safety, sometimes Linebacker, sometimes Corner. And Polamalu had to convince his coaches to give him that freedom. Dax is getting it baked into the defensive plan.

Yes I agree that Dax is the backup Nickel. There is just one problem there. Jalen Davis. If Dax is the backup what’s Jalen Davis the 3rd string nickel? There isn’t enough room on a roster to have a 3rd string anything. Davis needs to go. He isn’t that good anyway. He never plays for a reason he is t that good. I know Anaroumo said he could be a starting nickel on any team in the league well ok then release him and let him go do that.

I’m fine with it, The only real problem I have is you have 1 1st and 2 2nd round corners, & one isn’t going to start. We’re getting too many high picks sitting on the bench, these guys gotta start!

Of course it’s the right descision. Dax could play SS better but we drafted a dam good SS last year in Jordan Battle. I agree with them switching his CB because at Michigan that’s the position he played. He played Nickel CB primarily at Michigan and he played some outside CB there too. It would b like Jackson Carman had been playing guard and really sucking and asking if I think it’s a good idea to move him to left tackle. Of course that would have been a good idea. Why? BECAUSE LITERALLY EVER SNAP HE PLAYED AT CLEMSON WAS FROM LEFT TACKLE!!! Next year Mike Hilton will be gone. Jalen Davis this is his last year under contract. Dax Hill will be the starting nickel next year and I think they got Josh Newton this year primarily to back Dax up next year because Newton doesn’t have the speed to may outside CB in the NFL. He does have the speed to play nickel. And next year Bell will be gone and then Jordan Battle will slide into the SS spot. I still think it was fucking nuts to bench Bsttle after making the fucking All Rookie team and having the best grade from a rookie safety since 2018 Derwin James. But I’m not in charge of the team.

I think dax got too much blame last year. Nick Scott wasn't good. Dax was still learning. Chido didn't have a good year . And the d was on the field a lot cause the offense couldn't convert early on.

There will be plenty of opportunities for Dax to enter the lineup. The versatility to play in the box as a nickel corner is like running a hybrid 4-3.

I’m hearing that Mims is in the top 3 drafted players to bust in the NFL? I hope that’s not the case and he turns out to be a future hall of fame right tackle! But as for the defense I truly think that Jesse Bates made everyone else in the backfield look like ballers. Hopefully I’m wrong and they get back to the 2021-2022 defense that was lockdown at times?

I think you play him the same as the RatBirds do with Hamilton! Dax is similar but way more athletic

Ok now that he's a corner, that's basically having 3 safeties on the field at one time. It's going to be crazy awesome... This move isn't just made to just move him... There's a bigger picture that we don't see yet!!! But we will!!!!!

I was a big fan of Dax when he was drafted. This organization/coaching staff never really seemed to have a solid plan for him. Knew this was going to be an issue when they essentially didn't let him play his rookie year. They totally ruined this guys career.

They are finally moving Dax to the position he played in college. Dax is an elite nickel but alas we already have an elite nickel on the roster so it will be next year before he starts or if Hilton is injured. Hilton is 30 already though so almost time for new blood at that position. But anyone who thinks Dax was a complete failure last year and that HE was what was wrong with the defense is an utter fool. Dax stats from last year were 110 tackles, 1.5 sacks, 12 pass break ups, 2 interceptions. That’s better than Jessie Bates rookie year. Bates rookie year he had 111 tackles, 0 sacks, 8 pass breakups, 3 interceptions. And Bates had the luxury of playing his college position. DAX HAD NEVER PLAYED FS UNTIL LAST YEAR!!! PLAYING FS AND PLAYING NICKEL ARE 2 TOTALLY DIFFERENT THINGS!!

I blame scouting for 1 just because Dax is athletic doesn't mean he can play a position he's never played & I blame coaching for thinking the same Dax was a athletic nickel/ corner in college not a deep free safety an just because a guy is athletic like a true CB doesn't make him a great WR and this is what happens when you just take the best guy available and try molding him into something he's not

If Dax doesn’t play outside CB this year do not be surprised. Why? Because again at Michigan 90% of Dax’s snaps We’re from the nickel CB position guarding guys in the slot not on the outside. At Michigan outside CB is the only place DJ Turner played. Turner is an outside CB if I have ever seen one. 6’ 185 and fast as lightning. I hope that CTB and Turner are our outside CBs this year. Dax is a nickel who played some outside CB and some SS in college. Like I said before he was never a roaming center field type FS. I could have told the Bengals that when they drafted him. It makes me Think they don’t know what The fuck they are doing in that side of the ball. If this defense is drastically and I mean drastically better This year Lou Anaroumo needs to dust off the old resume because he will be history.

Bengals fooked up their defense by letting both their safeties walk 2 years ago. They needed to keep one of them. Hill was not good nor were any of the other people there we signed as free agents. Carter was not good on the line and now that DJ Reader is gone unless both drafted DTs Jenkins and Jackson play up to their presumed levels Bengals defense will remain a sieve. I dont know if Ananrumo has lost his mojo but the defense last year was pure caca. They are not anywhere near a Super Bowl defense. i know the video is about defense but the offense needs something besides Joe throwing 35 or 40 times a game and taking 3 sack and multiple hits doing so. Our "glass eater" mentality that our line coach has , is more like the matador in a bullring "Ole!" we have no depth at guard and we can only hope that a 7th round center can replace Karas if he were to be injured unless Trey Hill is capable enough to start. We miss Samaje Perine. Maybe Pitcher can get this offense to reach its capabilities because realistically Burrow, Chase and maybe Higgins are the only guys we can count on week in and week out

The Bengals now have the most unathletic safety tandem maybe ever lol. Both of their RAS is under 3.90. UNDER 3.90.

For a team that’s trying to get more athletic at every position boy with Geno Stone that’s not the case. He has the worse RAS that I have EVER seen from a defensive back or safety. Geno Stones RAS is 3.81. Yea 3.81. Poor explosion grade Poor speed Grade and Poor size grade. He didn’t do agility testing but rest assured they probably would have been Poor. Von Bell also has a pretty poor RAS of 3.69. The reason his is lower is because she he skipped some of the testing events but at least Bell has a speed grade of OKAY. So we might just have the most unathletic safety tandem in football. Maybe ever! Way to go Bengals!

No way in heck you don’t sign a real veteran to start at CB. Turner isn’t ready and it’s crazy to rely on Dax for that role.

Lot a ifs in your scenario. Dax Hill probably will be off the team after this season unless he balls out at corner but doubt it.

He's hiltons replacement when hilton leaves next year. Simple as that
