I wish this version of Candy-O was on an album along with his unreleased songs from the '90s. Ben created some excellent music after the Cars split. He reinvented himself.
Saw The Cars on The Panorama Tour.Been a diehard fan since the beginning. Ben is and always was and will be my favorite. Sitting off close to the side of the stage ( security let us sit there)....watching Beautiful BEN on stage so close was something l will treasure for ever.43 yrs.later still dreaming of him.Sweet Blessed Angel. Actually, most rockers are very sociable people… Especially when they’re surrounded by people they trust, just like the rest of us. But as they become more popular, that circle of trust gets smaller and the dickishness is a defense mechanism against the idiots who hound them.

MusicZombieGirl9999 this is a fucking heavy song period.....it was heavy when the Cars did it and it's heavy here....check out Electric Frankenstein's version, it is not only super heavy it also totally does the song all of the justice it is due
I love the cars and I always have from the beginning. Ben was similar to Ronan Farrow, they both have such Ethereal appearance / presence, so pure like angels, so very rare, it almost hurts to look at them
The sonic experience of this recording is fantastic! I wish he would have released the harder rock Cars songs on his own solo record. I could listen to this 24/7. And for once his vocal is out front and, as always, perfect. And you’ve done a great job with the video and effects. Thank you 🙏
*When one hears just even BENJAMIN ORR'S singing voice -- one can totally understand and/or can picture what a Wonderful Person BENJAMIN was ...its just so so very very sad to me (and I'm sure to a great very many people and his fans when they heard of his passing...) that such a lovely Human Being like BENJAMIN had to be 'taken away' so soon like that. I like to suppose that some of us 'put' here on earth are just meant to become Angels in Heaven just a little sooner than others -- that's the only way I can make sense of it all to tell ya the truth...I just feel I must believe that...if not -- I'd be so utterly forever heartbroken & unable to function at all for the times I've had to 'lose' someone I had loved so purely with all my heart...* *~May God Rest Your Soul In Peace Forever More Dear Benjamin Orr~*
Love this! Such an all round talent, and gorgeous too! So sad that he didn’t get to show us more. I do hope that the unreleased material will one day be published for us to enjoy and remember. RIP Ben Orr ❤️

I've had a total crush on Benny since I was a tween....Unfortunately, I was only able to see him on random album covers, was way before MTV came about. And even then, the only actual video I ever remember seeing him in was "Drive"....He has a multitude of looks....Handsome, mysteriously sexy, and adorable, meaning just super cute (when he smiled big) a general babe, altogether. Although, he has blue eyes, in his more candid pics they look "a lot" more green than blue. And for some reason, my extremely green eyes appear blue in photos, just the opposite....I wonder why that is?? I could never figure that out....
Kelly S his eyes like mine are not really green or blue they are a hazel and depending on the clothing and background can appear either blue or green. As I get older they look gray like my hair.

Yes, Benjamin Orr was incredibly beautiful and sexy. But has anyone else noticed that this rendition of "Candy-O" by the Ben Orr Band is BETTER than the original Cars version? I love the psychedelic introduction, along with the extended guitar part at the end.
here i go, the good little Catholic girl comes out in me when I'm overtaken with, er, admiration for Benjamin Orr. jesus, mary and joseph!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! What a HOT song. Likely the hardest, most psychedelic song the Cars ever played! Except this is Benjamin's Orr Band I'm pretty sure I have seen a live video of this. The video quality is pretty awful and so I wasn't appreciating the quality of the playing and vocals as much. Plus, Benjamin was roaming around the stage and not with the studied, elegance and grace of the early days. Let's say it was a gritty, raw, loose performance, as far as stage craft went. But the audio of this, put to Carolyn's superb photos and effects puts this off the charts, raging mad-cool!!!!! WOW!!!

Went to Catholic school also 60’s early 70’s, those nuns pounded in our heads the seven deadly sins which lust was one, oh well can’t abide by that one when it comes to Benjamin. See you in purgatory. Haha.

Someone here had mentioned that they heard a bit of Iggy in this song. I agree, especially in this later version of Candy-0. There is a song that Iggy sang with Kate of the B-52s. The title is Candy. Ha funny yeah? Benjamin and the Cars covered an Iggy song. I just love the Benjamin/Cars version of it. "Fun Time" "Hey baby we like your pants"
