Looking for a MagSafe power bank for your iPhone 12 or 13 series phone? Want something super small and slim? The Benks Magnetic Wireless Power Bank may be perfect for you. It’s designed to work with MagSafe compatible phones in the iPhone 12 or 13 series, but it also comes with an adhesive magnetic ring that you can attach to a non MagSafe phone or phone case and as long as that phone model supports Qi wireless charging, you can magnetically attach this Benks power bank to it and charge it up. Like other third party magnetic power banks, this Benks power bank isn’t going to charge your iphone at 15 watt MagSafe speeds…just regular 5 watt qi wireless speed. However, it is super convenient to use, super small and has enough power to charge an iPhone 13 Pro from zero to about 80%. Lots to love here from Benks!
Pros:
* small and sleek
* enough power to charge an iPhone 13 Pro to 80%
* strong magnets
* lower priced than competitor products
* soft touch finish and rounded edges feel nice against the palm
* supports pass through charging
* charges via USB-C (cable included)
* can charge a device via the USB-C port at 12 watts
Cons:
* no 15 watt MagSafe charging…only charges at 5 watts
The Benks Magnetic Power Bank is available directly from Benks as well as from Amazon.com and is priced at $39.99. It currently comes in two colors: the navy blue and black featured in this review. Many thanks to the kind folks at Benks for sending me out this sample to review.

Nice video. Could you please review the Anker MagGo 622 battery bank? I’m interested if it would fit with the Pitaka MagEZ case pro on the iPhone 13 Pro. Thanks!

hi, thanks for the review. do you think it'd work with the 13 mini? could you please measure the length and width of this power bank?

Hi Zsolt! I don't have the 13 mini, but my husband has the 12 mini (which is the same size as the 13 mini) and this powerbank works great with his phone. The product specifications on the manufacturer webpage also mention that it is compatible with the 13 mini. Great product! www.benks.com/products/magnetic-power-bank

Can my iphone 8 plus use this power bank if the ring is attached?
@TheTechReviewer
@TheTechReviewer Год назад
Hi Alarie! I think that should work from what I understand, but I can't say for sure as I have never tried it. Essentially what you would be doing is just using wireless charging (which your 8 Plus can do), but using the magnetic ring to stick the power bank in place. I think it would probably work, but it might not charge as efficiently...You also might want to reach out to Benks and ask...

Hi there. I believe the ring should be attached to phone body with trasparent sticker should be applied on the phone body 1st and the ring next on top of the transparent sticker. It's meant to protect the phone body from scratches and the ring adhesive. Next u can fix your case while hiding the weird ring!! 🤣 Ive bought the 10k version to pair with my Z Flip 3 though. My S21+ has been a magsafe phone with the help of this ring.

Thanks so much! I finally came across some installation instructions recently, and saw that I had installed it wrong (and what you are describing is right!) I’ll have to try to do it right next time…Thanks for setting me straight, and thanks for watching 😀

Hi. Come to think to this.. the mag sticker attached to the back protector film, the case also got magnetic feature. What will happen to magnetic mechanism?
@TheTechReviewer
@TheTechReviewer Год назад
It should make the case able to be used with MagSafe accessories. So if you are using a phone which is able to do wireless charging, then the magnets in the adhesive ring will position the phone case properly so that it can be used with MagSafe chargers/power banks.

@@TheTechReviewer hi.. thanks for your respond… yes thats correct, but what if there are 3 items that has magnet feature and we use it all together ; magnet ring attached to the phone, mag case, and the mag charger.. do you think it will work? I ask this because im new with this “mag” thing, and my case not all has mag feature 😁😁 some of them, yes. To attach the mag ring to the phone, I’m afraid will disrupt the mag-mechanism when i use the mag-case
@TheTechReviewer
@TheTechReviewer Год назад
Hi Frances! If the phone is already MagSafe, why do you want to attach another MagSafe ring to it? Those rings are to make non MagSafe phones or cases into MagSafe ones…

Hi, love the review. Bought this magsafe powerbank and i love it. However i do notice that it gets warm. But my biggest concern is that i heard it makes this loud tinkling sound near the charging port. Imagine analog watch’s sound. I am wondering if your unit is affected by this and should i be worried? Thank you. Jaqkuin Malaysia
@TheTechReviewer
@TheTechReviewer 2 года назад
Hi Jaqkuin! Thanks so much for your message. And yes, all MagSafe power banks get warm, unfortunately. MagSafe chargers as well! But the noise issue was new to me. I think I typically don't listen so closely to my power banks, even though they are a daily use item for me. So, you caused me to round up all six of the magnetic power banks that I had lying around my home and hold them very close to my ear! Most of them made a very small buzzing/clicking sound like the one you describe, although it typically decreases quite a bit once the unit has been on for a while...but interestingly, out of the two Benks power banks that I was able to find, one made the noise, and one didn't. Out of 2 Anker power banks, one made it and one didn't. The mophie power banks that I looked at either made no noise, or an extremely soft one. I will say that the one Benks power bank that made the noise was the loudest of all six units that I looked at. However, still had to be within 6 inches of my ear to be heard at all. And the noise lessened when it had been on for a while. How loud is yours?

hi, when this powerbank is attached to the phone, does it automatically start charging by itself? or do we need to press the power button for it to start? im looking for a powerbank to be attached to my phone but i also do not want it to be charging all the time
@TheTechReviewer
@TheTechReviewer 2 года назад
Hi Shine! So, this Benks Magnetic Power Bank requires you to turn on the power button in order to start charging, so you should be in good shape there. The Anker MagGo 622 Power Bank that I just reviewed, however, turns on automatically when attached to a MagSafe phone, so that model would not work for your purposes.

Hello nice review, considering this after watching your review, just a few things to know before I make my decision, can you charge iPhone13 by USB C instead of magnetic? And can i charge iPhone 13 magnetically and other device with USB c at the same time ? Is it Made for Magsafe certified or just Magsafe compatible, thank you.
@TheTechReviewer
@TheTechReviewer 2 года назад
Hi Noy! It is MagSafe compatible, but not Apple certified Made for MagSafe. And it doesn't charge at MagSafe charging speeds...just 7.5 watt fast wireless charging. If you don't want to use the wireless charging functionality to charge your iPhone, you can plug your phone into a lightning to USB-C cable and charge via the USB-C port of the power bank. You can charge the power bank via USB-C and your phone, via MagSafe attached wireless charging, at the same time, but if you are trying to charge two devices at the same time (one via USB-C and one via wireless charging), it won't work. Hope this helps!

Hello, I have a question about the Magsave Powerbanks. I can't really decide between the Anker MagGo 622 and the Benks On-Go. I don't care whether I have to switch them on manually or not. I don't need the stand on the Anker either necessarily. My main concerns are charging speed, heat development, size and weight. I also have the feeling that the anchors could discharge themselves more quickly because they don't have a switch. Which one would you advise? Kind regards, Karsten Seifert Germany
@TheTechReviewer
@TheTechReviewer 2 года назад
Hi Karsten. Greetings to you in Germany! OK, first off, I suspect that Benks might have changed their magnetic power bank slightly from the version I reviewed, because the name is slightly different. Or perhaps they are just trying to be similar to the name of Anker's MagGo line. But at any rate, based on the Benks power bank version I reviewed, versus the Anker MagGo 622, I haven't timed the charging speed of the two exactly, but I think that they are more or less equivalent. The Benks power bank is smaller in all dimensions (length, width, thickness) as compared with the Anker MagGo, and although both power banks get warm while charging, the Benks version runs slightly cooler than the Anker. However, the stand function on the Anker MagGo is really excellent, and I find myself using it a lot. Both are great products...hope this helps! And thanks for watching!
@Googelmann
@Googelmann 2 года назад
Thank you for replying. I have already ordered the Benks power bank. I think she was the right choice for me. According to data, the Benks has the same charging speed (7.5 watts) as the Anker. You say that the Benks generate less heat, I think that's a good thing. Since the Benks are also better than the anchors in all dimensions (weight) and I don't need the stand function and automatic loading, I'm sure that the Benks were the right choice.

Their website says it wirelessly charges at 7.5W. Kindly confirm.
@TheTechReviewer
@TheTechReviewer 2 года назад
Hi Edwin! That is correct. 7.5 watts is the 'fast' qi wireless charging that Apple devices are limited to. Android devices are allowed to charge at faster speeds, but not Apple devices. MagSafe charging charges at 15 watts, but this power bank does not do MagSafe charging...just MagSafe attachment, with fast qi wireless charging. Hope this helps!

How long does it take to charge iPhone 12 from 30% to 100%?
@TheTechReviewer
@TheTechReviewer 2 года назад
Hi @Style! So, the last 20% of charging, from 80% to 100%, is very slow and inefficient. A better use of the Benks powerbank is charging from 0%-70%, and that will take around 3 hours. The focus here is on convenient and portability, not speed. Hope this helps!
