The Apple MagSafe absolutely is the best. Two words: power management. It knows when to sip and it knows when to pause, regular power banks only have one mode: charge all the way. The integration is top tier and as you rightly mentioned, when used properly you will be up to 90% on your phone late in the evening. It will keep your phone battery in tip top condition as well. A 5-star device from Apple.

Another thing I like about it is that It's heat sensitive. If you're power-using your phone with the pack attached it will stop charging if your internal battery gets too hot and resume when it cools down. An excellent feature for battery preservation.

@@MrNicePotatowrong. You clearly didn’t watch the video. Apple’s is meant to be used be sticking it on when your phone is nearly full then keeping it there so it stays at like i0% forever. It communicates with the phone to know when to give it 1% or 2% at a time. It truly makes your phone last longer. Third parties on the other hand, only one way - to charge until it dies. This generates a lot of heat and really can only be used when your phone is at low battery. Instead of making your battery last longer, it adds percentage to your battery, which in turn makes your battery last longer.

About once every dozen or so videos they get it right and it’s nice to see you have gotten it right. The Apple MagSafe battery pack is a battery extender and it’s meant to be attached to a fully charged iPhone to maintain the charge level in the phone at about 90% for as long as it can. It adds many more hours so the phone can be charged less often. As this device is basically a trickle charger it doesn’t do any harm to the iPhone battery unlike many other battery packs

I love the apple one. Got it for travel and everyday use when I don't feel like using a normal charger. Works amazing at keeping your phone around 80% without heating it up. That played a huge factor considering my destinations for traveling are very warm usually. I also use it as a wireless charger for at night, and sometimes for my airpod pros when I'm on the go. One last thing I enjoy is that it uses the same cable as my phone, eliminating the need for another charger.

@DanielGoff527
@DanielGoff527 Год назад
Dude. I used to LOVE my MagSafe Battery Pack. It was one of the most beautifully engineered Apple products I had seen when I got it 2 years ago, back when I was rocking an iPhone 12 mini. It worked flawlessly. I left it on the phone 24/7, plugged a lightning cable up to the battery pack to charge both batteries overnight and it would keep my 12 mini at 90% until about 6-7PM most days. More than enough battery to get me through a heavy day and I loved how it preserved my battery health and maximized battery life by keeping it at 90%. But a year or so ago all of a sudden when I unplug the charger (with the battery pack on my phone) it automatically charges to 100% even though that setting is not toggled on in my control center. While it's charging to 100% it's getting hotter, it's wasting more energy so I'm losing battery life, and it's putting more stress on my internal battery. And the only way to get it to stop charging past 90% is to remove the battery pack from the phone and reattach it. Is it the end of the world? No. The battery pack is still good to have if I'm in a pinch and don't have an outlet all day. But it's really annoying most days as many times as I plug in and unplug for CarPlay in my truck throughout the day to have to manually fix this bug every time I unplug. Can you see if your battery pack behaves the same or if this is a bug with my particular device? I've already gotten a warranty replacement from Apple and it does the exact same thing. I've left comments on Apple support communities and submitted a feature request and nobody knows anything about it, the folks working at Apple Stores have no clue how this thing is supposed to work, probably because most people just slap it on for a quick charge in a pinch. But I really liked being able to just leave it on the phone all the time and have the peace of mind of having the maximum possible battery life whenever I happened to need it, and I liked reducing the wear and tear on my internal battery as much as possible. It's been super frustrating having no fix for this for this long when it used to work so freaking well.
@jayvenson1260
@jayvenson1260 Год назад
I legit started having the same problems last year. Even got a warranty replacement via Apple Store. And yes, they have not one clue how this thing supposed to work when I explained it to them. This product is probably the most misunderstood piece of tech in recent memory imo.
@DanielGoff527
@DanielGoff527 Год назад
@@jayvenson1260 It has to just be a simple software bug that has gone unnoticed because so few people just leave it on the phone all the time. It’s like they just left out a line of code that tells the phone to go back to limiting charging to 90% after you unplug it. So freaking frustrating.

lmao the fact most casual Apple fans couldn't comprehend this on its release is staggering to me. Magsafe and this Apple Magsafe battery EXTENDER was so big for Apple that a lot of Android enthusiast applauded it. The fact that iOS can split power consumption on both the battery extender and the phone means there's less wear on the battery health with usage and charging cycles.

This!!! Love how you simple explain its use cases and give real world examples. It’s crazy because none of apples battery cases have ever been designed to charge from 0-100. They were always designed to keep your phone between 90-100 and preserve the battery health while doing so. So I’m confused why people are all upset and confused that it doesn’t have a lot of MAH. It will charge it from about 0-50 depending on your device, but it’s literally to keep your phone at 90, so when it dies later in the evening, your phone will still have a high charge. I love mine and I don’t go anywhere without it because of that peace of mind.
@Jmort93
@Jmort93 Год назад
This man is absolutely correct because charging to 100% is proven to be worse for the battery longevity than keeping at around 80-90%. Most EV manufacturers even recommend keeping the battery charge between 20-80%. So that means to keep your battery lasting a long time on an EV, you’re really only looking at 60-70% of the rated range

Love the Apple MagSafe battery pack and how it keeps the main phone battery consistently at 91%. However since I started using the battery pack full time the auto iCloud backup has stopped and I am having to manually do the backup every second or third day. Is this a consequence of using the battery “extender” and the phone is not recognising it as a “plugged in” power source to kick off the backup?

It has a charging light indicator but when I connect to my phone, it says it’s dead even when still plugged in. Apple only recommended to use different outlets and charging bricks but that’s it. Hey T I got the concept with the Apple MagSafe battery extender and wanted to get your suggestion. I’m a pretty heavy user. I start at about 5:30 am and at about 9:30am I’m at around 40% battery on my iPhone. Then I charge to about 100%, then at around 2:00 I’m around 60% when I leave for work. I plug in again on my Anker on my way home so I’ll have battery to last me the rest of the day. I’m wondering with my usage of the Apple MagSafe will be ok for my usage. I would slap it on at 5:30am and use it until it dies. I’m wondering with my usage when the Apple MagSafe will die. If it dies at 9:30am and I’m at 90% I suppose that’s better than being at 40%. Then when I use my iPhone again until 2:00 when I leave work I might be at 50-60% then I could charge on my way home on my Anker. Reason I don’t like the Anker is because my iPhone can get hot when I’m using it while it’s charging. Thanks!

It will charge it to 90 percent as long as you tick off the option to not charge past 90. Then if it is 90 percent, it will maintain it that way until the battery pack dies off

99$ is overpriced for what it is 5,000 mah is pathetic for that price I got a 10,000 mah for 20$ and the pocket juice has wireless charging. You are being silly

The MagSafe charger is just a replacement for the battery cases Apple had. It’s just supposed maintain your battery level, not completely recharge your phone.

Another major feature which is great for me is it doubles as a MagSafe charger for over night charging when plugged into the wall. The MagSafe charger puck alone is $40, so for $60 more you also get the battery extender. It also never runs hot, barely even gets warm. Gets my 14 Pro through 2 days. Thanks for the video!

Charging through the magsafe battery will wear out the external battery quicker as you are putting more charge cycles on it when you could just plug your phone directly.

@Konnnichiwasayounara

I think that the anker magsafe charger is pointless because when it charges it gets super hot so you don’t want to use it while your using your phone and if your going to use it while your not using your phone a normal power bank is better because they are more efficient and have a larger capacity
